Hi
I want to tag my forum pages with web analytics code. We use Omniture Sitecatalyst (it's like Google Analytics on steriods). Anyway, I need to include some Javascript on each page of the forum. I have learnt that I can customise Templates in the Style manager to include some Javascript which is great.
However...
To get some really useful data into the web analytics program, I would like to include some information into the javascript:
1. The name of the page, e.g. "Forums home" "[forum name]" or "[post name]". So this would differ depending upon the page you visit. I'm flexible on this one really, as long as I can identify the page somehow. Does anyone know how to include this as a variable. Is conditional logic needed?
2. I would like to have some conditional logic in the Template which displays some minor changes to the Javascript when certain 'events' happen e.g. there is a new member signup or a new thread posted.
I have read that there are variables available to use in Templates. So perhaps someone will know which variables to use. Regarding the conditional logic, perhaps this can be done with "Replacement Variables". If only I could understand that section of the vB manual...
Has anyone done anything like this before, or can any vbulletin guru recommend a strategy to tackle this?
Thanks in advance
Tony
