Hey, thanks for fixing the bugs!

Just found out that after you delete someone off the team the number doesn't update on the 'Team List'. It still shows 3 when there's only 2 left on the team. :)

Edit: Now that you changed 1v1 to be called Single Elimination, the whole tournament table with the brackets on the tournament result page disappeared.

If you go in the phrase manager and change Single Elimination back to 1v1 or anything short, the brackets reappear!

Thanks for the new update, some new bugs when you upload a team logo nothing happens also when making a new team the upload logo is not in there you need to create then edit your team to add it.

And the comment redirect is not working still :(

This is not very big deal but if it's not too hard to fix:

- When user joins a tournament and later has his username changed, the old username will stay in the tournament page.

I was thinking something along those lines like if YAAS finally got automated awards, but IMO I think banana would work on combining his ladders + tournaments before implementing them to any other 3rd party modifications.

Sorry about that. I think its caused by an error in installation of ladder modification. Import attached product file and it should be fixed.

Admincp -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Edit vB Tournament

remove text from 2.4 uninstallation box

click save

Then try uninstalling it

When I tried that, I get

Looking back, maxteams was listed under the uninstall box for 2.3.8

so I removed everything from all uninstall boxes, and then it let me remove the product. I hope this was ok, lol.. but everytime I deleted the info from one box, when I tried to uninstall it referenced info from another.

Should it be safe now to try a new installation? If so, I have a question. The new Beta install you listed above, does it include all files needed to run both the ladders and tournaments? Only reason I ask, is because the ladder script no longer has any download available, and I have removed it from my forums.

When I did that, I kept getting the same error, for different tables.

So, instead I went in via myphpadmin and physically found, and deleted every table, or addition to existing tables the modification created. Took awhile, but when I was done, it installed correctly.

I have one suggestion. Is it possible to create, and include an additional file that will delete all modification DB changes encase anyone ever wants or needs to uninstall? I know some phpbb mods include an install / uninstall file you can upload, and click on to add/remove tables. Maybe something like that is possible here?

I know it was sure a hassle to find, and remove all the DB tables by hand, lol. Maybe save someone some heartbreak if they ever need to remove to upgrade or something?

BTW, I like the merged mods. Looks great together! Great job!

Found one small error to add.

When a user adds a comment to an event, it pops up the message that its been entered, and click here if you do not wish to wait. Clicking does nothing, and the message just stalls.

No biggie, the guys can just use the back button.. but just wanted to let you know.

I'm having a big problem.... I can't update usergroups because of a table from the tournament. I tried to uninstall the tournament and this is what I get everytime:

I tried reinstalling and upgrading the tournament as well, and no luck. I haven't even used the tournament software in about a week, so I'm unsure as to why it suddenly did this. I checked phpmyadmin and the table doesn't exist. What do I do here?

fyi: I was using/reinstalled/upgraded with version 2.4.

In response to my above post (#540), I fixed the usergroups. I just went into the profduct's xml file and manually entered the commands to fix the usergroups. Everytime there was a new error, I fixed it one by one until it was working fine again. I still can't upgrade or uninstall the tourney, but I'll give that an attempt later on tonight and give an update.

edit: Every time some of the tables are created again, different ones are deleted. I don't understand why the entire product won't install o reinstall and I'm getting pretty upset with it. Is there a way for me to manually UNinstall the whole thing, through phpmyadmin? I can try deleting every table/field, but how will it be taken out of the admincp and actual system?

I'm liking how things are shaping up. I think there really needs to be some sort of XP that teams can gain via the ladders they compete in so that there's kind of like a "true skill" ranking for overall competitors.

Members are asking what happened to the Ladder. however after changing the phrase and saving it the name on the navbar does not change.

I was just looking at this new install, and the new announcements part.

I assume that anyone can post an announcement, as I can't see any settings in ACP, for usergroup permissions, or in the tournaments options.

Am I just being silly here, but shouldn't this be usergroup controlled?

Upon testing, I also only see an edit option after an announcement is posted, any chance of a "delete" button in there?? (bit cheeky of me, but it would be handy for a lot of people I reckon.)

Aslo, the Coding is messed up when creating a tournament, it's not aligned like it was before, now it's all linear..

Hi I like this mod however I get this error when I import the xml file.

vBulletin Message:
"No file uploaded and no local file found."

I did upload all 4 files as instructed to my forums folder. And put import as ./includes/xml/product-tournament2008.xml

and yet still doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

I have a suggestion of maybe seperating the tournaments and ladders. While the same team form one can be used for the, they are still two very different things, in terms of competition on a forum. For the url's sake, having tournaments.php and ladders.php.

Also having a navbar/quicklinks option for "Ladders" as well, like how "Tournaments" has.

edit: I also have a question: For the slots in the tournament, how are they determined? When people sign up, are they just given a random 9-digit number, and then the slots go in order of those numbers assigned? If I want to change slots for people, I currently have to manually edit ther user ID and name fields in phpmyadmin, but would it be easier to just change the slot number to any number that would be, say the lowest, in order to get them in slot #1?

Bug: Well i think its a bug. there is no way to delete any of your Announcements
Suggestion: In the ladder it be good if you can added ladders for teams as well
because atm only players can signup and not teams
So it be good if when you create a ladder you can pick for teams or players (1v1)

This is the EXACT Issue I had 2 days ago. I opened up the XML file and a blank wordpad document. Copy all of the install codes down into the wordpad document, making sure to make the proper adjustments for it to be entered as an SQL Query. Once you have all of them, copy the entire thing and enter the query. It should write whatever is missing, and since you will have all tables/fields after that, it will be able to uninstall in the AdminCP. Or you can do it all in pieces, instead of at once.

For some reason after doing that, I had an issue with a table called "tournaments" which was actually from the ibProArcade, which I just deleted and solved.

If you have a custom navbar, you need to enter in there manually.

This is the EXACT Issue I had 2 days ago. I opened up the XML file and a blank wordpad document. Copy all of the install codes down into the wordpad document, making sure to make the proper adjustments for it to be entered as an SQL Query. Once you have all of them, copy the entire thing and enter the query. It should write whatever is missing, and since you will have all tables/fields after that, it will be able to uninstall in the AdminCP. Or you can do it all in pieces, instead of at once.

For some reason after doing that, I had an issue with a table called "tournaments" which was actually from the ibProArcade, which I just deleted and solved.

No, i uninstalled the ladders mod, currently have no ladder or tournament mod installed and can't install the tourney because of the columns already existing in the tables of my database

Oh, so when it uninstalled, it kept some left over? Well maybe you can try manually deleting the tables and the fields added by the ladders mod. I would back up my database before messing with any of that though.

Don't think you're understanding me fully.. its not the ladder mod with the duplicate column names anymore.. it got rid of those from the uninstall of the ladder mod. but before I uninstalled the ladder mod I tried installing the tourney mod.. so it made all those columns and then failed because of the ladder mod having some duplicates.. now that the ladder mod is gone it can't install because there's ones from the tourney mod's try to install so it has those duplicates now.. heh

if you have a custom style you'll need to add it to that style, it only auto-adds it for the default VB style not your custom ones.

You didn't load the file. I'm pretty sure that file was only in the earlier versions of the tourney mod, IIRC.

Brilliant script! a lot of people have been waiting for something like this and I think the commercial ladder script vendors should be very worried. My only issue so far has been when clicking on a player to challenge them the player challenging gets the error message: "Please complete both the subject and message fields." the challenge is still made though but it will cause users some confusion. Sorry if this has been reported - I read the first 18 pages of this thread :)

My suggestions/wish list


Players get a PM when challenged - this will stop challenges laying dormant should the ladder run for some time and players don't regulalry visit.
Admin ability to set points scored for wins, draws and losses in a ladder
Admin ability to restrict the number of places a challenger can challenge above him, i.e in a 20 player ladder you may want to restrict the challenges to 5 places above the challenger
Rules page - yes I know its coming but I thought I'd just add my 2 cents :)

I've got no experience with vB 3.5.x but obviously some additions were made in vB 3.6.x, which means it isn't backwards compatible. Sorry.

Upgrade to latest version of Forum Tournaments & Ladders. I added code in v2.4.6 which checks that the appropriate columns have been added.

Revert template tmnt_newplayer and upgrade to latest version of modification which does not require the file.

Then if you start playing people that are lower than you, you only get smaller amounts of points such as 90,80,70. If you decide to beat a team that's waaaay lower than you, it might be a very small reward like 10 or 20 points (GB has all of their winning values in multiples of 10). Then of course, if you beat someone a lot higher than you, you would get up to 200 points. So it basically increases the winning points value depending on the difference in your ranks.

It also does the same for losing values, like losing to a team that's better than you, doesn't cost as many points, but losing to a team that's lower than you can lose you a decent amount of points.

So in the end, it's a solid way to rank people effectively and not encourage people to cheat by playing the same team and getting the same, set amount of points they would for beating the best team on the ladder or some bad, 2-23 team. A team that's 10-2 that plays only good teams will be higher on the ladder than a team that's 10-2 that only plays bad teams.

Hope that helps. I use a point range to determine "levels" so users can see how beating a higher ranked team earns then more points and loosing to a lower ranked team, loses them more points.

I'll try out the new version probably next week, as I'm currently running a 256-person tournament (8 Divisions with 32 people each) and don't really want to do any upgrades now.

I have a glitch to report: This only happens in 32 person tournaments. The advancement for the person with the 16th spot is glitch, and it advances them to the bracket of what should be the 17th and 18th person. When hovering over and seeing the javascript, it looks as if the system thinks it is a 3-way fight. I'll show a screenshot:

As you can see (by the winner spot being all the way to right), I'm showing you the very middle of the 32-person bracket. The guy with the arrow go one bracket below of what he should. This is the case on every 32 person tournament I'm currently running and had happened during testing, but I forgot to report it.

On thing I find interesting is that you can create a tourny, add a player and then win it without them every agreeing . Shouldnt someone agree to be added? Perhaps PM the when you add a member so they have to come back and agree.

Also it seems you have more options when you edit a ladder than when you create one.

It would appear to me that when you are updating you re not allowing overwrite when you upload the new product XML file. I would uninstall the product then reinstall the latest version.

If you are currently running an active tournament, you could backup your DB, then go to your DB, browse the users table, scroll down until you see "tmnt_joins" and "tmnt_wins". Odds are, you have multiple rows with these names. Typically a DB structure will insert new rows underneath existing rows, so if you delete duplicate rows, except for the top ones, you should be good to go.

*If you do access your DB, make sure to back it up before you make any changes!*

During the first few weeks this mod was release, I had created few test tournaments, now when I check the Hall of Fame list, those the players added to the test tournament are in the hall of fame, Is there a way or can the ability to edit the Hall of Fame be added?

Only way I've found so far to remove the joins and wins from a profile is via myphpadmin. In the user table there's a join and win column. I just went in and reset them to 0 by hand.

I really think a way to do that from the script would be awesome though.

He was referring to fact that he had multiple instances of the "joined/won" section of the profile. I looked a members profile on his site, and saw 4 instances of it on the page.

A "clear player stats" option would be great either in the tourney options in ACP or on user options in ACP.

Look for multiple plugins called 'Tournament MemberInfo'.

If you only have one 'Tournament MemberInfo' plugin then open it and change '.=' to '='.

Yes but if you have a long set of rules and other info it just shows on a single line in the details section and looks very messy :(

Instead the details part should be about the tournament and then the rules should be in the tournament/ladder page.

Couple of suggestions. I haven't installed the latest releases (I don't want to put the ladder part in until you get the ELO rankings in, or something similar). I read through to see if these had just been put in and didn't see them, so I apologize if I missed them.

On my site we host our official site tournament plus we allow members to host their own tournaments. Would it be possible to allow for some sort of distinction between the two? Maybe allow tournaments that have been marked as official tournaments to show up in bold, and then have links where members can view all official tournaments or view all member tournaments. You could then just add an admin option to allow different usergroups/users to host official tournaments. I hope that makes sense.

Another is to allow team leaders to appoint other team leaders, or maybe team captains or something similar, and also give them the power to enter teams in tournaments and such. Oftentimes teams have multiple leaders, and if there can only be one team leader, and he isn't available for some reason, it would suck for the team to not be able to enter.

Yea, I like this. Maybe a Team/Player page in a ladder should show the last X matches they've done (maybe 5 or 10_ and have an option to click and view all matches. Perhaps the last X amount to display could be definable in the Admin CP.

You'll need to change the ". TABLE_PREFIX ."tmnt_tmnts description row to encoding which supports Russian characters (default is latin1_general_ci)

Are there any plans on creating two files, on "tournament.php" and "ladder.php" to sort of separate the directory for ladders and tournaments. Personally, I just don't really care for ladders being under a file called "tournament".

First I would like to say thanks this mod works great. A few of my members came up with a suggestion. So say a member(non staff) created a tournament and everything went fine, They would like to be able to end there tournament with out having to pm a tournament moderator.

This might be a very stupid question but unfortunately I am not a "games guru" like most of you out here...

I installed the mod but I am not sure how this thing works??? I went through all the posts but did not get much idea except that there are two modes i.e. LSM and 1v1.

My main question is, what GAME are the users competing against?? Does the user who creates the tournament, adds a mult-player game where people can compete against each other??? If this is case, where to download these multi-player games??

Any pointers would be appreciated.

1) this is the normal setup I think, I can see tournaments competitor and can delete those through the small icon (only 3 players registered there => I can see them!)

First off, voted for MOM. I've told you before but I've been waiting years for a decent script like this.

I've reported this one before but if you turn on redirect messages in vB Options - Cookies and HTTP Header Options - Remove Redirection Message Pages - No
You get this error when submitting certain commands on tournament.php "Could not find phrase ''. redirect message"

Also noticed a few styling issues, might just be me. The edit button goes to the default image directory not the dynamic skin directory. When removing a team from a tournament it refers to them as "player" a bit confusing.

Suggestions:

1. Map & Gametype Randomizer
2. Cut off date for signups - If the max number of players/teams isn't reached by a certain date registration closes and the tournament starts on the scheduled date regardless of if enough players have joined.
3. Notifications, I would love love love too see things added to vb 3.7 notification system. Such as request for players to join your team or to approve a win/lose etc..
4. Full ability to edit tournament details. I hate clicking the + or - to change the slots, give me all the editable options on one nice and neat page. When setting the time don't make it GMT+0 make it the tournament creaters time zone.
5. Ability to close comment system on a tournament
6. Ability for teams/players to report a win or lose and have a tournament mod OR the opposing team/player confirm.

The image tree_ltr.gif came with vBulletin i downloaded so it should be on your forum. atm, only tournaments create new thread.

My main question is, what GAME are the users competing against?? Does the user who creates the tournament, adds a mult-player game where people can compete against each other??? If this is case, where to download these multi-player games??

This might be a very stupid question but unfortunately I am not a "games guru" like most of you out here...

I installed the mod but I am not sure how this thing works??? I went through all the posts but did not get much idea except that there are two modes i.e. LSM and 1v1.

Do I have to create questions like "what will be the scoreline"..and then at the end whoever is closer, moves ahead to the second round???

A perfect world example would be really amazing as I want to use this MOD and also nominate it for MOM.....

I run a few of websites dedicated to PS3 online gaming. We run tourney's on games such as Call of Duty and Socom. I currently run an antiquated ladder/tourney script in a seperate directory from my forums. This script allows you to set up tournaments or ladders directly on your forums.

For example, I am about to launch an 8v8 tourney for Socom: Confrontation. With this mod, I can have the clan leaders sign up for the tourney, invite members to thier team, and set the individual matches up directly on the forums. When the tourney starts, the teams play online, and record the required stats in the mod, and the winner advances. No need for the extra script in the other directory. It combines both elements of my lsite into one.

We have run a couple of tournaments for clans in region, generally have a round robin match where everyone playes each other once, then top 8 go into the main finals and bottom 8 into the plate finals which are divided as per the stand quarter, semi and final system. Would it be possible to do this?

I can start working on a Level-Based scoring system, which uses a teams current score to talley points for wins and losses, based on their opponents total points. The end user will see that the higher ranked team you beat, earns you more points, and the lower ranked teams you lose too, loses you more points. I am also going to work on tracking game specific stats, and maybe add a map generator, and a "Best of" to the challenge system.

Under latest Tournaments it would be a great Idea to hide finished tournaments and place them under tournament history link.

Can we get the forum jump menu to be accessible from within the Tournament and ladder script.

Just import it like a normal product. Once it has installed you are free to uninstall it, to keep your product list tidy.

I have a other segestion for you:
Must leagues and cups now use xraygaming (aka xray anti cheat)
on there site there is a php code that will allow you to link your xray profile to your website.

Is there anyway you can add this in as well so when a use registers he must submit his profile info as well but you the opiton of turning it off.
Also be it be nice so that it will say his info so that he dont have to keep typing it in ever time to play a cup but be able to edit it if needed.

Each match could count towards the rankings and then the winner (and runner up?) would also get bonus points, based on the amount of people entered and the average rating of everyone entered.

If you allow everyone to create tournaments this is bound to happen. :( There are always kids out there... The best way is to let only adminds and mods and other people you can trust create tournaments imo. ;)

No special characters (outside numbers but I don't think it's the problem for sure) and I haven't modified your tournaments templates.
Created a new tournament now and added players manually, seems it's working (15 showing on page). I'll investigate more (still can't see the ones listed for the other tournament).

EDIT : After checking all players account in the bugged tournament, I've seen one of those was renamed (his forums account is renamed). I've removed him manually through the database in the table tmnt_players but the tourney still does not show the registered players... Any tip? (I'll recreate it adding each player manually otherwise)

Try opening tournament.php and replacing all $html with $tlhtml
Then open product and replace all $html with $tlhtml

By special characters I meant ' or " which might (shouldn't) break php code.

The tournament part of the hack should not be affected by name changes or accounts being deleted as those details are kept in tmnt_players table. Sorry I cannot think of anything else.

Now the registrations are full but the tournament is written "In Progress" and nothing is listed, neither players or drawings.
Created a new one, copied everyone there manually through "add player" and those were listed fine but at the end I have "In Progress" and same result.
(Used LMS tournament and date/hour is now "21 hours ago", don't know if that matter)

Possible features: How about the ability to challenge other players in a 1v1 match. A VBAdvanced module to display the Hall of Fame or up and coming matches etc would be great :D

Nice work by the way, I have it installed on our test site at the mo. Only prob I am seeing at the moment is the layout (pic attacted) whereby the menu and latest windows have a nice gap between them. I'm sure I saw a post on that before though so will look around. Unless of course someone else has the answer?

Before I try out the new version (I'm still on 2.4.6), do I have to uninstall my current, or can I just overwrite it? Because I remember a lot of problems with tables/fields that were going on during some upgrades before, where something wasn't being overwritten properly.
