Can you get the videos to sit next to each other rather than only being centered?
I would imagine that you can, but which templates do we use to change that?

Maybe I over looked the threads. But when I post Zshare links the images do not show up.
I have them in the misc folder.

Hi
I have installed this Mod, I have updated to the DJ database addon and deleted the other 4 or so ones that came with this Mod.
I want to embed some movies from Pure Pwnage , I have taken some screenshots, I can not get the blip.tv links to embed, can you go over my pic to see what I am doing wrong please?
Thanks in advance.

I am trying to install this but it sits on "Importing Product, Please Wait..." forever until I browse away from the page. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
How big is the post table? AME adds a column to your post, visitor message, blog and social group tables to enable users to disable embedding. More than likely it is simply taking a long time to add the column.
About a million posts. I've been letting it run for about 19 hours now. Any idea how much longer?

Cant really tell from the screenies, but it may be a conflict (i.e. duplicate definitions). Regardless, I cant really help with non default definitions :(

It shouldnt take anything like that amount of time. You can try adding the flag to your posts table ahead of the install. To do so, use phpmyadmin or similar and add a column called ame_flag of type tinyint to your posts table.
Please note that you should backup first.

Any chance you can give me a little more detail how to do this in phpmyadmin? My experience in phpmyadmin is limited although I've had no problems doing things in there with more details.
If I understand this correctly, in the Post table I would be adding a field - does it matter if it is at the beginning or end of the table or after any particular field? I'm guessing that the Field Name would be "ame_flag"? Do I need any values after the Type?
Thanks!

okay. I seem to have gotten 2.5 working... somewhat... All of the ame tags that were dead in my forums from running into all of the problems before are now displaying videos, yeah!!:D
But, no new embeds work. URL's don't get converted to the ame tag:(
I have:
Disable New Items -> No
Extract Destination Data -> Yes
Enable File Cache -> Yes (and CHMOD 777 the amecache folder)
Posting, vbBlogs, Social Group & Visitor Message Settings -> Yes
Was there something else that I'm missing?
EDIT: There must have been something wrong with the original file import. I just re-imported the product-ame.xml file and it's working fine now.

Sorry for the double post, but this is a totally unrelated question.
I think I may have originally misunderstood this plugin, or assumed something that I shouldn't have. Can we not use this plugin to auto embed images? I thought images were considered "media"?
One other question, any thoughts on adding the vBulletin lightbox feature to a future release? If so, any rough estimate on a timeframe?

This is too strange. My members are reporting that the videos just sit with the loading icon (spinny thing in the middle) running when they click play and the videos never play. It works just fine on my computer.

I'm having trouble with youtube videos lately. Most of them will start in gallery mode and not use high quality. I re-loaded the definitions but i'm getting the same random error (sometimes the videos just play fine). I'll attach a screenshot of what i get when pressing the Play button. I am using 2.02 version.

It's really a matter of practicality. I've considered doing a definition for Photobucket and ImageShack, but most of the time users are going to use embed code as a matter of habit, so that could create conflicts when they post their code. Any definitions would have to be created for specific sites. Essentially, it would likely not be practical.

These are both likely due to YouTube maintanance issues.

Hey Geek,
I've been running into a couple of problems with developing definitions for 2.5. Every so often, I make a definition and the $url and $title do not parse on certain people's forums, even with the brackets. I thought I goofed and needed to use the $ameinfo_ prefix, but that didn't work either. I've had a chance to test a few boards and see if their is a common, or conflicting hack, and can't quite find a common denominator just yet (other then the Post Thanks Hack, which I don't think is related). I forget, did I mention this already? My brain is not what I imagine it used to be.

Nope, it only does anything when a post is built. It's less server intensive then BBCode.

Great Mod...but having a problem. The youtube video plays fine until you try to go to full screen mode. If you select the full screen mode, the sound continues but the video freezes. When you hit the escape key to go back to minimized mode, the video plays correctly but the rest of the webpage goes pure white. Here is a link to what I'm talking about:

Update: It only appears to be happening in IE. Not Safari, Netscape, or Firefox.
Update: Now it seems to only be in my home browser IE7 Browser. At work it's fine but at home it's broke. I'm using IE7 in both places. I updated my Java at home to no effect. Is there something else I should check? 80% of my users use IE so I'd like to figure it out before it goes to my live board. Any ideas?

I wasn't suggesting it was easily dismissed, what I'm suggesting is that it's not a modification issue. All AME does is replicate the embed code provided by YouTube. It would either work, or it wouldn't. Bizzare behavior is generally an indication of a problem with the source of the video, which would explain why it's different for different users/computers.

Did you upload the contentsof the forums folder to your forums directory, or did you just put the entire folder there? The reason it's called forums is because most folks have their forum located in a folder called forums. Whatever folder you keep your forum in is your forum's root directory. So that's where the contents of the forums folder should go.

Update flash and/or ff.
REMEMBER: This system only transforms your URL into the destination sites embed code!
Finally the following type of errors:
failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php
Are because the files were either not uploaded into the correct location, some files weren't uploaded or the uploaded files do not have permission to be run.

it will be fine set to no. Having it on gives a performance boost though.
I suggest double checking the path and folder permissions again. Turn it back on to see if the cache gets built in the amecache folder. If that doesnt work, you wont be able to use it :)

Great work on 2.5, it was great before, but the new features are awesome.
I just saw someone post about this in DJs thread so I thought I'd bring it here since I ran into this too. When importing definitions like from DJ's master list, you're stopped completely from importing if you have any definitions included in the master list even if you deselect them from being imported. I understand it was built to avoid duplicates, but I think it should be changed to allow you to selectively import from the master list as long as you deselect the duplicates or just import the non-duplicates, or something like that...
For most I'm sure it's not an issue deleting the old, but if you edit the replacement codes you're then stuck to adding new or updated definitions one by one, or deleting the old and re-editing one by one.

I am trying to set it up so the mod displays some custom embedding code, while pulling some info from the target page and inserting it in the embedding code. For example, is it possible to have embedding code like this:
<a href="$p1">TEST</a>
and then have this mod load the target page, grab the link through regex and insert it into the code above. I feel it is possible somehow, but I cannot figure out how to do it. Anyone knows?

Hey,
I installed the 2.0 version.
It is converting all of my links to what the title is, is there any way I can disable this? and just have it embed videos, but not change regular links?
Is the beta stable enough?
Do you mean, it's not converting links into videos, or do you mean you don't want the title of the video above the embedded video?

Use the Embed regexp field to pull information from the source code of the page. Do you know anything about Regular Expressions? If not, refer to the guides in post 3 of this thread: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=175378

Yes, I am familiar with Regular Expressions. I am having difficulties identifying how this mod assigns variables that were matched in my regular expression. For example:
Regular expression field:
[http://]*www\.example\.com[/mediafolder]{0,1}/album\.php\?albumid=([0-9]+)
Replacement field inserts albumid as $p1:
<a href="http://www.example.com/mediafolder/album.php?albumid=$p1"><img border="0" src="images/photoalbum.png" /></a>
Then I pull additional info with Embedding Regexp field:
<span class="testclass">(.*?)</span>
Does Embedding Regexp field assign the match in parenthesis to $p2 that I can use at
the Replacement field field like this?
$p2<br /><a href="http://www.example.com/mediafolder/album.php?albumid=$p1"><img border="0" src="images/photoalbum.png" /></a>

which version is currently recommended to download 2.5rc or 2.0.2 for 3.7.3pl1 ?
And is it necessary to download master.xml to get google, youtube TO WORK OR are they included in 2.0.2 zip file ?

realmr, I'm using 2.5 on both 3.7.1 and 3.7.3 installs. Seems to be working okay on both. Little tweaks that need to be done to support certain definitions, but that's with either 2.0 or 2.5. So, I'd recommend 2.5 IMO.

I've a trouble.
Some videos of YouTube doesn't work. It tell VIDEO NO LONGER AVAILABLE also if video is available.
Look this: http://forum.fuoriditesta.it/video-musicali/75090-ana-johnsson-don-t-cry-for-pain.html the video is aviable on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDCN9mAQwoU but not in my website.

I think there is an error in replacement:

I guess the question you should pose is if you really need to. The conversion is just for converting threads created prior to installation of the mod. If you don't really need to convert the older threads, then I wouldn't bother.
hello! i looked and searched for this, apologies if it has been covered.

I have adjusted the display height and width to match... but the container still smooshes the video aspect ratio. am i missing something simple (please say yes). any help is appreciated.
Are you referring to AME 2.5? If so, and your using the Add-On definitions from my thread, I have not yet made the conversion for those definition that handles the Height and Width controls for 2.5. They have to be changed manually in the Replacement HTML for each respective definition.
Yes, I am familiar with Regular Expressions. I am having difficulties identifying how this mod assigns variables that were matched in my regular expression. For example:
Regular expression field:
[http://]*www\.example\.com[/mediafolder]{0,1}/album\.php\?albumid=([0-9]+)
Replacement field inserts albumid as $p1:
<a href="http://www.example.com/mediafolder/album.php?albumid=$p1"><img border="0" src="images/photoalbum.png" /></a>

the Replacement field field like this?
$p2<br /><a href="http://www.example.com/mediafolder/album.php?albumid=$p1"><img border="0" src="images/photoalbum.png" /></a>
It matches the groups in the order they appear in the RegEx, regardless of which field your using. So $p1 will be replaced by your first group, $p2 your second, $p3 your third and so on. If you really need something from the source code of the page, then it's best, usually, to keep all your groupings in the Embed Regexp and pull your album ID, etc. from there.

Post a couple of examples where your not getting the proper conversion. Could be you don't have extraction on in the global and/or definition settings. Could be something else entirely.

And is it necessary to download master.xml to get google, youtube TO WORK OR are they included in 2.0.2 zip file ?
Both work fine, although there's some small bugs in 2.5 that are not hugely a problem. Mostly parsing errors with some of the extra sites I made for the Add On. But that's being worked on. Also, I haven't updated the Master XML to support the resizing controls that come with 2.5, but they still convert without it.
There are just a few definitions included with the mod to get you started. The Master XML in my thread is if you want the full blown number of supported sites. Once you install the mod, you'll see which supported sites come stock in the definitions list. Then you can decide if you want the extra ones from my thread.

It appears to be the problem. That bit of code was added to support the HD versions of some YouTube videos. But it appears they're not doing it that way anymore (http://cybernetnews.com/2008/03/12/watch-youtube-high-quality-videos-by-default/). Removing both instances of it should correct the problem. Also drop the & right before it.

Did you upload the contentsof the forums folder to your forums directory, or did you just put the entire folder there? The reason it's called forums is because most folks have their forum located in a folder called forums. Whatever folder you keep your forum in is your forum's root directory. So that's where the contents of the forums folder should go.
Sorry I didn't get back to this before...are you saying that the "admincp" folder goes in the "admincp" in my forum directory, the "images" in "images" and "includes" in "includes"? Forgive me...I'm very clueless when it comes to this. :o I had assumed that you needed to put the entire forums folder into the forum directory as a whole.
How would I go about adding custom text to the container. I would like to add a link saying something to the affect of "Video not playing? Try updating your Flash player Here:". How would I go about doing that? Thanks.

No, just the forums folder's contents go into your forums directory. The reason your seeing an admincp folder, an images folder and an includes folder in the upload folder is because that's the way your forums is structured. In other words, everything in the upload folder is structured the exact same way it would be on your forums. So you only upload everything in one fell swoop.
Just think of it this way, if the contents of a folder say:
admincp
images
includes
etc.
Then you need to add those contents to the folder on your server that says the same thing:
admincp
images
includes
etc.
That way everything goes where it's supposed to.

If I'm not mistaken, that should happen automatically when a person's flash player is not up to date. But you can add the text to the container HTML. Depending on which version your using it will either be under Settings or will be part of the ame_container template as in 2.5.

It was only after clicking on the title of the video and going to the video host website that they were told they needed to update flash. If a simple link to upgrade flash was in the container, it might clue them into why they can't see the video. I'll play around with editing the container. Anyone else need the same thing? Ideally a replacement of the red X image (see attachment) with an image asking them to update their flash player. Is that a possibility or is there no way for AME to know when it's not playing for a user because they don't have Flash?

In order to replace the X you'd likely have to change the embed code for each definition, as I believe that's handled there. Editing the container would be simpler in the long run.

It's dependant on individual browser settings and type as to whehter it will open in a new tab or new window.
This is the Title at the top of the container. It opens in a new tab.
<td class="tcat" colspan="2" style="text-align:center">

That was my problem :)

Totally my own fault but managed to fix it eventually

ALTER TABLE post DROP FIELD ame_flag; wouldn't have worked anyway, the table was corrupt.
anyway managed to drop the field and reimport the product (used over write) and things seem good now. Woot!

Hi,
I'm getting a validation error in my news block of vbAdvanced coming from AME:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.trossenrobotics.com% 2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&ss=1&group=0&user-agent=W3C_Validator%2F1.591#line-3244
It's inserting the number 425 (which is the default width setting in AME) inside a table tag.
EDIT
Okay, so I found what's wrong. It's in the ame_container template. The $ameinfo[width] is sitting all by itself inside the table tag. I can remove it, but something tells me it's supposed to be in there, but just in a width="$ameinfo[width]" setup... What is the correct code?
<div align="center">
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" $ameinfo[width] style="margin:10px 0">
<thead>
<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="2" style="text-align:center">
<a href="$ameinfo[url]" title="$ameinfo[title]" target="_blank">$ameinfo[title]</a>
</td>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td class="panelsurround" align="center">
$ameinfo[code]
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table></div>

FYI, I found a validation error in the default YouTube definition:
It's currently:
<object width="$ameinfo[width]" height="$ameinfo[height]">
<param name=''movie'' value="http://www.youtube.com/v/$p1&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/$p1&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="$ameinfo[width]" height="$ameinfo[height]" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>
but should be:
<object width="$ameinfo[width]" height="$ameinfo[height]">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/$p1&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/$p1&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="$ameinfo[width]" height="$ameinfo[height]" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>
note that
param name=''movie''
changed to
param name="movie"
It may look the same, but it was previously two sets of single quotes and in order to properly validate, it needed to be changed to one set of double quotes.
EDIT:
Okay, so now that I changed the definition, the final result (code) is all screwy... It's now displaying like this:
param name="" movie=""
even though this is what I have entered in my Replacement section:
<object width="$ameinfo[width]" height="$ameinfo[height]">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/$p1&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/$p1&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="$ameinfo[width]" height="$ameinfo[height]" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>
Was there another separate place that I was suppose to edit?

Try the updated YouTube definition in either one of my threads. For your first question, $ameinfo[width] is supposed to convert to just the width number, so it needs to be inside a width element:
width="$ameinfo[width]"

Old links will not convert without resaving the posts or using the rebuild tools.
Even the new links are also not working.
1) I have removed Goldbrick first.
2) Then reinstalled AME.
3) Imported your latest mod with definitions.
4) Then Tools->rebuild all posts.
5) Then did Maintenance->Update Counters->rebuild forum info, rebuild thred info.
Still I could not get anything work. Whatever url links I post, it stays as a plain url link.
Where do I go from here?
[------>added later<------]
At the end, I just wanted to give a try by posting the url inside [ ame ]tag.
Wow.. it works with YouTube, Yahoo Video & Myspace. But not others, especially not with my favourite DailyMotion.
Also I have noticed, the bottom line at the media player shows a some kind of broken tag like this " title="YouTube" target="_blank">YouTube
Is it normal? Does the bottom line at the Media Players shows like this to all?
I hope this will help you to find where the problem is?
Thanks for your support, and help.

Really all a tutorial for users would say is: Post links to videos. Maybe: Don't use embed code. Beyond that, there's nothing else they need to know. There's nothing else to tell them.

Sounds like something didn't install correctly or completely. Make sure all the Goldbrick tables (if it creates any) are completely removed from your database. And then do a complete uninstall/reinstall of the AME product. And by complete, I mean re-upload all the files.
If all else fails, let us know and maybe The Geek, who understands this way better than I, will have time to give you some feedback on this one. But it sounds like it's something simple.

That depends on how you want it displayed. Since vBadvanced already supports HTML, then all you'd have to do is paste the embed code into that module without AME having anything to do with it. But if your wanting to display the videos from a thread or post, then you'd just do what you'd normally do when you display thread/post content, with AME installed of course.

Leave it with me, I am working on a couple ideas. But if you really need a mod that will only display for certain usergroups right now then try checking out passivevid as I am pretty sure that supports the option.

I searched the forum and couldn't find what I was looking for. I currently have passivevid installed (an older edition) and see that they have now crippled the product and don't allow many feeds. Your mod looks awesome by the way.
My Question ? : Do I need to uninstall Passivevid, then install AME? Any special instructions for removing links, etc. I have quite a few videos that are currently be parsed correctly, I just don't want to break any links and have to go back and manually update after switching to your mod.
Thanks for your help,

The two aren't compatible, so passiveVid would have to be uninstalled first. I've notice some problems with the two even after passiveVid has been uninstalled, so make sure all tables the mod uses are clear from your database after removal. What you would do with your older videos would depend on how passiveVid handles it's media.
For example, people who were using custom BBCodes for sites like YouTube, MetaCafe, Google, etc, have the option of rebuilding their posts. In the AME CP there's an option that lets AME go through your posts and change your old BBCode tags to AME tags. So if you where using [youtube] tags, AME could go in and change all to [ame] tags.
I don't know if passiveVid handles media like that at all, or lets you do a similar conversion process before uninstalling it, but hopefully that helps you get started. I do highly recommend this product. But then, I am a little biased because I support the Add-On which adds support for 170 additional sites. ;)

Ok, thanks.
I'll give it a go, and post any trouble I run into. I'm pretty good at following instructions and I don't think I was doing anything special with passivevid, just using it "out of the box" so to speak so hopefully I will get lucky and it will go smooth.
If I f.. something up, I'll pay you to fix it :D.

I uninstalled passivevid, and installed ame, and it is kind of working. I'm not seeing anywhere in the AME control panel to upload the xml media definitions. I've looked, and looked and I don't see them anywhere. Maybe I'm blind.
Also, the Tools Options is non-existent from the AME control panel. I did manage to find the "tools" in a crazy way, I went to uninstall/Re-install the mod, and was presented with the tools screen, I reverted all passived vid links to raw urls, and then rebuilt them and youtube vids appear to be now working ok, but other sources don't and I obviously want all 160+ definitions to work.
I also need to do some formatting of the player box, where can I change the font color of the embed title for example?
I'm not a coder at all, but I'm good at following directions if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks, I really like all the features of this mod, excited to get it working correctly for my members.

Hey Geek, I've come across some styling issues on a few forums. I wonder if there's any way around this: http://www.pokerstrategyforums.com/poker-pub-cut-loose-have-fun/evolution-dance-1322.php#post5933
The problem is, the post CSS for links is overriding the CSS for the tcat category. So if post links and the tcat background happen to be similar in color or the same color, you can't read the title. I've tried changing the container HTML from everything to font tags to inline styles and nothing works. Is there anyway to fool the cat into displaying the desired CSS?

Thanks OP. Works great.
I like to report another bug/problem.
When you create a post with video link and preview it then in the preview mode only the link will appear, when you post it the it gets embedded. Is not that series but when you create a news post you always preview before you actually post it.
Is this a known issue?
This is the same problem I have with AME 2.5 RC1. If you create a new thread and preview it, you will only see a link without the automatic embedding. The embedding option checkbox vanishes as well. This might lead to users thinking it does not work or not being authorized to post videos.
If you edit or reply, the preview works without any problems.
Other than that it works great. Much easier than using any developer api.

Unless FaceBook provide embed capability, which I've not been able to find, there won't be one. However, it's difficult to find FaceBook videos, so I've not been able to tell if they do globally or on a case by case basis. They don't list them anywhere, and none of my friends have any uploaded.

It's really a matter of practicality. I've considered doing a definition for Photobucket and ImageShack, but most of the time users are going to use embed code as a matter of habit, so that could create conflicts when they post their code. Any definitions would have to be created for specific sites. Essentially, it would likely not be practical.
Regex is one thing I've never come close to comprehending, so I may be talking out my wazoo here.
But I thought the photobucket video embed code they provide for forums always has the action=view parameter.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/ (http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii245/mixedtape1394/?action=view¤t=100_0102.flv)
When comparing it to the HTML link they provide to render the video player, I wouldn't think there wouldn't be conflicts when the users post the embed code as long as the replacement only happened if the action=view was present in the code
<a href="http://media.photobucket.com/video/test/mixedtape1394/100_0102.flv?o=3" target="_blank"><embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i266.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid266.photobucket.com/albums/ii245/mixedtape1394/100_0102.flv&sr=1"></a>
But like I already said, regex mind as well be talking Greek to me, so any chance of me figuring out how to write a replacement to test the theory is out the window.

The conflict I was referring to, (if there is a conflict, admitedly, I haven't had a chance to test this yet) would come, not from the video, but from the image embed code. You had asked if we could use this to embed images. The problem I see is people grabbing the image forum code with the https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/ tags and either getting an image with the IMG tags on either side, or no picture at all. Like I said, though, I will have to test this to be sure.

yeah, I assumed you were talking about the IMG embed codes.
The IMG embed code is the same format for just an image alone, as the IMG embed code I pasted above that is part of the video string.
But if the replacement was only looking for a URL= with photobucket and action=view it could replace everything between the opening URL tag and closing URL tag so the IMG embed would be irrelevant and never cause a conflict on an image emb used alone.
URL image tag:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/ (http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa229/h20junkie/Misc/IMG_1927.jpg)
URL video tag
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/12/103.jpg (http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/?action=view¤t=100_2877.flv)
As you can see, the action=view is the defining part of the string to separate a IMG from a Video, so there should be no issue with a replacement that looks for that action=view
I wish I was good enough at regex to try and write one myself.
But if I can't do that, I figure the least I can do is T it up for someone that actually can write regex...:P

Maybe we aren't on the same page as you said.
I'm talking about a conversion specifically for the PB offered IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards for videos.

As you can see, I ended up with a broken layout. The page was rendering the default photobucket image that is shown for videos, followed by the video player rendered by your product.
I was assuming your Photobucket (Videos) definition was written just to do replacements on the url portion only, and wasn't designed to account for the embed code PB provides as shown above. (at least that's what the regex looked like)
I got the idea of adding support for the PB embed code from use of this mod:

It adds a photobucket image/video search and upload when making posts using:
http://photobucket.com/landing/plugin_wizard.php
And, if you search photobucket using that mod for a video, the only URL photo bucket gives you for the video via the IFRAME used by that mod, is the IMG code I listed above.
Anyway, I personally love that PB image search/upload since it gives an easy way for users to post videos to the site without having to allow users to upload attachments.
I had to shut off your Photobucket (Videos) definition since it broke the page whenever someone would use the PB code provided by the IFRAME uploader.
Hopefully, I'm explaining myself better this time.
Thanks again for a killer product.

I was only recently turned me on to this, so it will be part of the next definition update, but you'll have to get that from one of my Add-On threads.
Where i found that?
Where i found that?
Please read more carefully. He said "next definition update" and "you'll have to". In other words, it has not been released yet!
But I am sure that you will not be able to find it in this thread, but in the other thread. This thread is about the AME mod and the other one has been created by DJ to provide his definitions.
I also like to ask everybody to discuss definitions in the other thread. Such discussion clutter this thread and makes it harder for DJ to keep track of definition problems.

I haven upgraded this mod yet, but I think upgrades will be easy. Just overwrite the existing add-on. If it does not work, you could uninstall the mod and install the updated version.
If you update vbulletin, you do not need to uninstall any mods. I have been doing quite a few updates recently (vb 3.73 -> 3.8b2 -> 3.8b3 -> 3.8b4) and never uninstalled my mods. Just follow the update instructions.
But to make sure, you might want to test updates on a test installation. Sometimes you will face problems on updates. Some mods require changes after updating to a new vb version. As I said before, I did not need to do any changes to my mods, so most vb 3.7 mods should also work on vb 3.8.
The Update yes.. but i can get that from the Add-On Thread right now. That's i understand :)

Oh, come on. Just admit that you have been wrong instead of hiding the most important words in your quote.
He said, that it will be part of his next definition update and that his definitions are available in one of his add-on threads. And you know that, because you have already used his definitions. But if you do not want to believe that, go ahead and search for it. Good luck! :D
I have 2.5 installed on my board but it affects the vbgooglemap plug in. Half the pins on the map disappear with 2.5 enabled, when I disable the AME plug in, the pins reappear. I did not have this problem with the previous version of AME.

Embed size
Btw, I think the embed size shouldn't be globally if an AME definition has its own size. The default size sucks for e.g. Game Trailers. The quality of passiveVid is much higher since it doesn't resize (resp has the correct size (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1675121&postcount=77) for Gametrailers). The admin should be able to disable Zone sizes and only use Definition sizes.

EDIT #2: "How far back to go" doesn't seem to work in 2.5 RC1 and "Ignore previous" doesn't work as well if I did "Remove [ame] codes" before and want to get the ame tags back again ("no changes" for any post).
Due to (fixable) resizing issues I've uninstalled AME again and continue using passiveVid 1.x.
Besides that your module seems to be quite good and fast and uninstallation works as well (only data left in table datastore -> usergroupcache and table administer and the cache is not deleted, too (good for lazy admins :D )).

Hi The Geek,
thanks a lot for this fantastic mod (AME 2.5 RC1).
It seems that there's a problem if the vB forum has the UTF8 charset.
take this vid (french video, with accents in the title):
http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=TjlMa14-WfQ&feature=related
if you put it on an UTF8 forum AME gives you :
[ame="http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=TjlMa14-WfQ&feature=related"]YouTube - Sociin the post.
or this one :
http://www.dailymotion.com/ti-dav/video/x64vls_renaud-o-cest-que-jai-mis-mon-fling_music
gives you :
[ame="http://www.dailymotion.com/ti-dav/video/x64vls_renaud-o-cest-que-jai-mis-mon-fling_music"]Dailymotion - Renaud- O
i've found a workaround, in the file ame_bbcode.php :
you got :
function ame_fetch_www_title(&$content)
{
if(preg_match("|<[\s]*title[\s]*>([^<]+)<[\s]*/[\s]*title[\s]*>|Ui", $content, $match))
{
$title = trim(str_replace(array("\t","\n"), "", $match[1]));
$title = unhtmlspecialchars(utf8_decode($title), true);
return $title;
}
else
{
return false;
}
}
The utf8_decode seems to be the problem, if your forum has the UTF8 charset you don't have to convert the title in ISO ...
My workaround :
function ame_fetch_www_title(&$content)
{
global $vbulletin;
if(preg_match("|<[\s]*title[\s]*>([^<]+)<[\s]*/[\s]*title[\s]*>|Ui", $content, $match))
{
$title = trim(str_replace(array("\t","\n"), "", $match[1]));
if ( strtolower($vbulletin->config['Mysqli']['charset'] )!= 'utf8')
{
$title = utf8_decode($title);
}
$title = unhtmlspecialchars($title, true);
return $title;
}
else
{
return false;
}
}
Not sure it's a clean code but works for me.
Now every videos work on my UTF8 forum !

Maybe we aren't on the same page as you said.
I'm talking about a conversion specifically for the PB offered IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards for videos.
When I tested the photobucket (videos) definition with:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/12/103.jpg (http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/?action=view¤t=100_2877.flv)
Here's the HTML rendered by the Photobucket (Videos) definition:
<A title="<img src="
href="http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/?action=view&current=100_3043.flv"
alt="" border="0" th_100_3043.jpg? motorcycle%20related%20stuff Whitey818 i237
albums i73.photobucket.com http:>" target="_blank"><IMG alt=""
src="http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/th_100_3043.jpg"
border=0></A> </TD></TR></THEAD>
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD class=panelsurround align=middle><EMBED
src=http://photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/100_3043.flv
width=430 height=389 type=application/x-shockwave-flash
wmode="transparent"></EMBED>
(at least that's what the regex looked like)
I got the idea of adding support for the PB embed code from use of this mod:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=166286&highlight=photobucket
We probably should discuss this in my Add-On thread after this, that's a good point. I forget where I am sometimes.
I understand what you mean now, and I don't think I recall seeing the embed code for thumbnails videos before. Yeah, it's parsing the URL of the video so the HTML for the thumbnails gets shattered. RegEx for BBCode is tricky, but not impossible I don't think. I'd just have to give it a try.
How easy will it be to upgrade from version 2.0 to 2.5 when it releases?
Do I also have to uninstall the mod when a new version of VB is released, or what will happen to the mod when you upgrade?
Thanks, Im new to VB and would like to add this mod :)
So far, the old 3.6 version continued to work into the 3.7 series. The Geek only updated it because, well one, he had some free time, but to add support for 3.7 features that weren't in 3.6, like blogs and profile comments. He also added the resizing feature. Unless there are some significant changes to vBulletin, or a change to a key feature that AME uses, it's unlikely you'd have to do anything when upgrading.
for some reason every video posted says sorry this video is not availible right after its been posted and i know the video wasnt deleted on youtube because i can still watch it on youtube, anyone know why?
If the author of the video has disabled embedding, then it will show up as not available.

The 2.5 definitions are kind of a BETA thing as well. But if you had wanted to ignore the global sizing issues with GameTrailers, you could have deleted the GamerTrailers definition and imported the other one from my "Third Times the Charm" thread, or you could have edited the Replacement HTML directly and removed the $ameinfo[height] $ameinfo[width] tags and put in the default sizes.

It looks like the preview problem already existed in former AME version 1.2. I first thought that it might be a style problem on my side, but it is the same with default style.
So this is a bug report.
Video preview does not work here:
blog
signature
new thread
new dicussion (and reply)
private message (I think AME does not cover this anyway)
Preview works at:
edit post
reply to thread
visitor message
Someone said that the link bb code is the reason. I don' t think so, because when you turn off automatic link conversion, preview still does not work.

No, I don' t have a youtube account. Then you seem to report the same as eagle eyes.
I doubt there is much you can do about it. For me it looks more like a bug in youtube. Why do you want to keep registered users from seeing embedded videos? Only the other way around makes sense - keeping unregistered users from viewing.

In most cases, yes. First you'd need the Local Hosted definitions which are available in my Add-On. Then you'd need to make sure that all your uploaded media ends in unique extensions; meaning DIVX videos end in .divx, MOV videos end in .mov, etc. You can inquire more about it in one of my threads.

Hi Geek,
This is an incredible modification and it deserves Mod of the month award.
I know you've been slammed with so many requests, so I will add one more :)
Have you considered to create a vBAdvanced module to display latest/most viewed/random videos from posts which are coming from AME modification codes.
This thread has such a module and also explains how to create a module for latest videos inside a post, but its limited by only when you already have defined a custom BB Code for single source videos (youtube, metacafe etc..). and its not generalized as AME.
http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19064&highlight=videos&page=2 (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?p=160360)
AME goes further, because you don't need to enter your BB Codes. It has an universal BB Code [ame]. I tried to enter ame in above module settings but it wasn't working because URL were becoming in the form of
http://www.youtube.com/v/www.youtube.com/ (http://%3Cb%3Ewww.youtube.com/v/www.youtube.com/%3C/b%3E)watch?v=n_HAHiJjBls
which clearly is not correct because url is displaying twice. Removing www.youtube.com (http://www.youtube.com/) from the template wasn't working too because it was then displaying all of the youtube page inside the specific frame size that you set in module options
Long story short: I believe someone can make a module to display videos from AME and I appreciate if you can advise how to display them on vBAdvanced too.
Thanks.
Val.

It has that video that does not want to work. If you click the link and go to youtube the video is playing, but then, the video says it's not available.
I have found that this occurs while youtube is upgrading their servers or doing maintenance. Works on the youtube site, but doesnt work on embedded video's.
Check it again in a couple hours, it may start working.
I did. That problem I had was since the last week. I tried to post the link on a different forum, or so... same thing. It woudn't be a problem for me, but the client told me ... it's not working.
I think that problem cannot be solved.
Many Youtube music videos cannot be embedded. I assume it is either because of copyright issues or because embedding has been denied by the uploader.

The URL structure is different then the typical URL for a Yahoo! video. It will have to be udpated.
Yahoo links are not working for me either. Is there an ETA for this to be fixed or am I misunderstanding and it's something we need to do? If the later would you please give easy instructions? :)
Google doesn't seem to work either. Maybe I'm not doing something right? :shrug: It's just drop in the link right? They don't use the embed code itself right? FWIW YouTube works fine for members and myself.

I modified the code in the Replacement code for YouTube to the dimensions that I like.

YouTube just did a massive overhaul, so they'll have to be looked at again once they've finished up with whatever it is they're doing. The other sites will have to be looked at again too. If your subscribed to the updates in my Add-On threads, then you know I will be looking at this over the course of the week and that I'm in the process of trying to get more organized.
Thank you. I'll subscribe to those as well then. I just wanted to see if this mod worked okay and the way I hoped before adding on the add ons. :)
So far my members seem very happy just to be able to add YouTube video. That's the one my board members will use most often anyway probably. :)

Ok, I've read everything here I can think of, nothing has helped me.
I have a VB 3.7.2
I downloaded the 2.0.2 zip file.
My forum does not have a "forums" folder it's just all in the root directory.
First I'll state my problem then what I've done.
I have no AME CP
I uploaded the following
In my root directory is VB I open VB and get the following folders:
admincp
archive
clietnscript
cpstyles
customavatars
customprofilepics
images
includes
install
modcp
signaturepics
First I went to admin cp
In that folder I uploaded the following: automediaembed_admin
Next I went to the Images folder and uploaded amazon_icon
Next I went to Includes folder and uploaded the following:
ame_bbcode and the cpnav_automediaembed xml document and the hook_automediaembed xml document
Next I went to my admin panel and imported the product-ame xml document
ALL of the above files are there as I've checked.
I found the AME Settings but there is NO AME CP anywhere..
In the AME Settings I see the following...
The maximum amount of characters to display in the title (note you can use the AME CP for this option)
I can click on AME CP and something comes up.. but it's just the SETTINGS.
There is no AME CP anywhere.. .
What did I do wrong??
Help please.

I sort of realized the double definitions on the way home from work. I disabled one and tada it worked! I am running v2.0.2 though. I didn't know that 2.5 was a stable release. Is it?
You have two YouTube definitions, and it looks like your running 2.5, as it appears you have one that's following the sizing options and one that isn't. You need to delete one of them.
On 2.5, the height and width variables can be set under Settings.
Unless, of course, your using 2.5, in which case you set that under the Settings menu.

You probably added a few files to the wrong place since you added them individually like that. That's not at all necessary, as the files are already configured in the order they need to be in. Just drag and drop the contents in one swoop and it will add everything in every folder it needs to be in.
As for the forums folder, that's just in the event your forum root is located in a folder of that name. In that case, you could just grab that folder and overwrite it onto your existing forums folder. But as I said above, since you don't have that, you'd just grab the contents of that folder in one swoop and let it overwrite into your forum root directory.
I sort of realized the double definitions on the way home from work. I disabled one and tada it worked! I am running v2.0.2 though. I didn't know that 2.5 was a stable release. Is it?
It looked like you were running 2.5 because one was smaller then the other. I guess maybe me and The Geek had our YouTube dimensions set differently,
Most comments I've heard is that it's running fine in a production environment, with only a couple of bugs in a couple of individual cases.

Hi Guys,
Just installed your great mod (rc1) and have one small problem.
I had previously been using passivevid and needed a replacement and unfortunately I can not seem to get all the old urls to automatically work for this hack.
I assume because it has not added the [AME] tags to the urls.
Passivevid does not add any tags to the urls so they're in their virgin state so hopefully am I just missing an option to scan old messages to change the youtube urls to [ame] tags or is there no such option?
Thanks in advance.
ps: I've tried the conversion and it says it finds nothing to convert!!

The older posts wouldn't convert unless there was some way to replace older tags. In that case, the posts would need to be re-saved.

Silly question, but why does this need to support Amazon?
From what I can see in the description and the code, it searches Amazon links for an ASIN (product ID), and then modifies the link to point to the Amazon product page.
So doesn't it essentially just simplify the link to make it shorter?
And what about if someone is deliberately linking to a specific Amazon URL, such as a list of the 3rd party sellers for the item. Will this replace that link with one pointing to the product page?
The only real use I see for Amazon support is that you could modify the links to include your Amazon affiliate link, which could definitely come in handy :)

For the moment, it seems the post has to be edited to get the video to embed. We don't know just yet if the The Geek will have time (or can) change that.

It will be included in a future update to the extended definitions in my Add-On thread. Link it at the bottom of the first post.

It's there to demonstrate that this mod does more then convert media. It will take a grotesquly long link like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000013G3/ref=s9subs_c6_15_img1-rfc_g1_si1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_r=0EHN0PCM9M858EF4FAVT&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463383431&pf_rd_i=507846
And convert it to this:
90675 Amazon.com: Boomerang: Original Soundtrack Album... (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000013G3/ref=s9subs_c6_15_img1-rfc_g1_si1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_r=0EHN0PCM9M858EF4FAVT&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463383431&pf_rd_i=507846)
And yes, it can be configured to include your Affiliate ID automatically. In my add-on thread we have a definition someone created that will convert them to this:
90674 90676 90677
I've also done the same for a CafePress definition as well as a formatted download link for zSHARE links. The point is, this is capable of formatting far more then just media.

I don't want to speak for The Geek too much, but I know it will be a while before he does anymore major updates to the modification. He usually does them so well they don't need too much support, other then tweaking the definitions. I'm curious how the lightbox would work with the unique things that AME can embed, which is sometimes just auto formated links.
I'm about to open my development subforum here in a few. I've been debating doing this but this should give you a good idea of what the mod can do.

It's not an odd problem at all. You have two copies of the same YouTube definition. You probably imported the definitions from my thread without deleting the stock definitions that come with AME.

DJ, nice forum you have. Ligthboxing seems to be a popular thing these days. Whether one types in a url to a video or image, Goldbrick usually rendered the photo or video as a thumbnail, then upon clicking git, it opened it up full size with the lightbox effect from the Highslide folks.
The problem with Golbrick is it is poorly supported and buggy. I can't blame him, it IS free, but I would rather pay and get support and updates than get something free.
Most Golbricked videos also show a thumbnail image taken from the video which tends to make people want to click on it and view it, but half the time it just shows a lame blue M.
I don't know what would happen to the existing video links if one switched from Goldbrick to AME....

I've been meaning to try installing Goldbrick and PassiveVid on my demo board, posting a few videos and then unintalling and installing AME just to see if there's some kind of conversion process we can take advantage of. As far as I know, unless Goldbrick has something that will let you convert media tags, they'd just be regular URL tags.

Goldbrick is supposed to sense whether the url is to an image or to a video at a designated file sharing site. Either way, it is supposed to add opening an closing media tags, but sometimes it just auto-adds url tags. It is buggy that way as one has to go back and edit a post to edit in media tags. That is lame.
I am a little confused, (not hard to do) what is the diff between your DJ AME and the Geek's?

My AME? Oh, you mean my thread add-on? That's just the extended definitions in one collected thread. The Geek only stocks the core product with a handful of definitions to keep it light. Then the rest of us can add sites periodically and I collect them in my thread. That's why there's so many supported sites, since anyone with a little RegEx knowledge can whip one up. I really on learned RegEx myself so I could support the additional XMLs.
If Goldbrick adds unique BBCode media tags, then that's perfect. AME has a rebuilding tool that lets you change any old BBCode tags to AME tags. Say for instance someone used to use [youtube] and [metacafe] tags and their all over their forum. They can have AME rebuild all the YouTube and MetaCafe tags to [AME] tags. AME itself doesn't usually use BBCode, but it comes with that stock code for situations like this. Plus you can test rebuild first just to make sure it's something you want to do.

When I start a new thread with youtube link for example, the post only shows the link/url and will not properly show the video. However, when you use the tag .. ( I did not even know this tag existed, found through reading this thread) the video will show up properly.
Again here are some issues:
I have vb 3.7.4

No errors after installation
When you post url of youtube for example, only shows URL
But when you use [ame] tag, it shows the video

DJ, great hack. I'm using it on my production site now and it's working flawlessly so far. I do have a question. I've noticed that if a user uses the URL BB code inside a sentence to link to a video, the video is embedded correctly but it chops the sentence in half and uses the linked text as the video title. Is there a simple way to make AME ignore a link if it's in URL tags so that only stand alone pasted URLs are converted? I doubt it considering I have automatic parsing of links on, but I thought I would ask the Jedi.
