he is using an anonymous proxy, which lets him come in from a different IP.

CAPTCHA's only stop bots, not actual humans.
Most likely, he is using Tor (or something similar), which will once a while change his route to the internet, you will not be able to stop him.
I don't see how logging on is hacking though...

jkcerda, Perhaps he is a member of a secondary usergroup that you forgot about? I know if I forget to remove a banned person from a secondary group, they still get access.

Yeah By him logging on isn't hacking. All I would say is either keep banning him. Or setup you're account for an 2 hour password change ect.. And make sure you're admin password is not the same as anything else that he may know.

Or, you could activate members' manually, until he gives up.

If he's banned, he can still show up on the Currently Active Users list because he may be trying to access your site. If you look at your Who's Online list and find his name, he should have a Stop sign next to his name (or a Yield sign, I forget which).

saw the yield sign next to his IP ady, New IP addy at that, I checked & did not find him under any other groups, banned that IP as well & now he is gone.
this is the only Spammer whom I have seen try to log in.
