Description:
This mod allows each user to store standard replies which they can quickly access upon creating a reply, thread, pm or infraction.

Why am i asking this ? For all movie reviews, we use the same template. Then we edit this template with the movie details we gonna post. So this kind of addon would make our job much easier, if we could choose the template (there are 4 different templates) from the selection box...

You might want to look at the Stencil Hack if you only need one template per forum.

This looks nice, bananalive! I'll be waiting for the permission based one (although I imagine if I only want it for mods/admins I could add the conditionals myself?).

Like said, I'll install this when it's for moderators/super moderators/administrators only. I also don't think that they should have the ability to edit it. It should be editable via the ACP for all staff members...

Thanks for your effort so far. It seems to work now. But in FF3, it only work if I change the editor mode to wysiwyg. In Plain text mode, when I change the canned reply from the drop down the text is in textarea is not changed.

Canned Replies works fully with Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing; I am currently working on finding a way for its use in Basic & Standard Editors.

Okay, not sure if this matters. I just tested this in another browser on my site, I just used netscape and it worked fine. But for IE7, it seems to not work for me. So this is a browswer issue for me, not sure why tho.

Make sure you uploaded bitfield_cannedreplies2008.xml to \includes\xml\
Then logout and re-login into your admincp
Go into usergroup permissions and when you click on usergroup to edit it should appear with message 'Rebuilding Bitfields'
Also note that Canned Replies Permissions do not always appear at the bottom of the usergroup permissions page.

Check your template USERCP_SHELL is not customised (ie. isnt highlighted in orange or red)
If your still have no luck, you can do the template edit yourself

I found the source of the problem why the auto insert wasn't working (and why manual editing of usercp_shell wasn't working). It was because i had Icons for UserCP (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=170558) modification installed, and that modification loads a new usercp_shell. I uninstalled that modification and the auto insert works now. You should add that in your main post.

It would be great if this modification could support administrator set canned responses that specific usergroups could use (but not edit). For example, i have a reviews forum and reviewers need to manually copy the section headings to make the review, it would be great if they could select from a premade template with all the sections i define set for them.

PS2: FYI I'm using vbseo, maybe that's why it doesn't work, vbseo cleans out all hidden HTML code I believe.

Well, I did and it made no difference at all.

Im running 3.7.2 latest patch level.
It all works great EXCEPT it will not actually insert the canned reply into the body of the new post :(

I am experiencing some troubles:

When clicking quick reply or advanced reply, I get this message:
Please click one of the Quick Reply icons in the posts above to activate Quick Reply.The text does not appear in the quick reply box, when selecting a canned reply.

The text does not appear in the message box, when selecting a canned reply for a new thread.

The hack works when clicking the reply button. The hack also works well with PM and infractions.

Please add functionality for:

Filling in the administrative note that goes with an infraction text as well.
It would be awesome if admins could define canned infraction texts for all staff.
It would also be great if each infraction would cause a canned text to be filled into both the administrative note as infraction message.

Different JavaScript is used so will need to remove any old template edits and then apply new template edits. I'm trying to reduce template edits but I'm having problems defining the vBeditor

I've installed this a couple of times with the different version, i now have the latest version installed but still cant get it to work.

All installed ok, but when coming to add a canned reply, it shows the title field correctly but the Reply field it doesn't give me a box to type in the canned reply?

Have you enabled permissions to your usergroup to use canned replies and set the number of canned replies your usergroup is allowed. (Also check secondary usergroups.)

What version of vBulletin are you using?
Have you installed any modifications that alter the messagearea/vBeditor?

When you are uploading cannedreplies.php have you checked 'Allow Overwrite'?

Please add a way to set standard infraction texts. Simply allowing admins to set canned replies that are available to all moderators would already do this.
Attaching certain canned replies to certain infractions & warnings would be a more sophisticated way. This way moderators would not have to select the correct text anymore.

This is how it looks, i have deliberately posted non existant bb code here just so you can see what i was trying to post (the information bb code tag is a custom one but works everywhere else)!

Problem same :confused:When uploading the file did you make sure that you uploaded cannedreplies.php to your forum root aswell as the xml to the includes folder....i only ask as i omitted that when i first uploaded and had that problem, i fixed it by uploading the cannedreplies.php.

I have run some trouble in translating in my language :

(is changing only Canned Reply phrase already translated to Raspunsuri sablon)

Title, Reply, Add and Cancel from posting a new canned message in Control panel cannot be edited also.
It should use phrases from vb.

On the suggestion side:

- global predefined replies (individual for each usergrup) from admin cp so a user from a group can have already predefined message template just to select from menu.
Used to have templates to be filled by users with different purposes. I will need one for a template for clinical cases (medicine)
It does not make sense to ask each user to introduce the template replies so he can use it when posting a case.

- Usergrup can have admin predetermined canned replies (above suggestion) +/- ability to save own replies (selectable both , one or none)

- add your above message to install info for easy understanding ( have looked for some time to understand how it works and where i set it up, the above message saved me :D )

Sorry it's because vBulletin has converted special characters into their symbol. Import attached product file.

Can you make a mod like this, but admins can define canned replies for usergroups?

-> add a canned reply -> select which usergroup(s) can use it

It would be useful for define canned replies for moderators like "post closed", "post sticked" etc. like the "multi-moderations" on Invision.

Or if you know a mod like it for vBulletin, please point me out.

The trouble with this addon is, that it puts all saved text into the source code of a webpage. This way everybody can have a look at your predefined statements.

To me this is a huge security risk, because maybe sensible information might be stored via this addon.

The idea is great and if security problem gets fixed I am the first to re-install this addon. :)

Import attached product, then if you add {share} at the beginning of the canned reply then others will be able to see it.

This request might be complicated but it might be a good one :)

With the shared code above, that is great, however I think it could be improved if you could define certain things. eg. Which usergroups can set up shared code. eg. Create shared code and then set it to show for specific usergroups/users instead of to all who can use canned replies. those 2 features would be great.



And another feature request: add canned replies to quick reply in PM (new feature added since vb 3.8.x)

You might be able to use something like this to define who you can share it to:

{share:1;5;6}

Where 1, 5, & 6 are the usergroups who can see that shared message.

To define who can use the share code, you could add an option in the Usergroup Settings (bitfield_canreplies2008.xml).

No, That adds a phrase if it doesn't exist. You could try adding the phrase manually.

Maybe you should remove that delete phrase from the *.xml, as it seems to remove that (default vBuuletin) phrase when you unistall this product. ;)

Banana I need help in two things:

1) How do I make it that it shows the link in UserCP only to those usergroups that can use Canned replies? I have that "Icons for UserCP" modification and I did the manual template edit but the link is showing for everyone. I need some kind of if-conditional to only show it to allowed people.

2) How can I make it to use the edited UserCP shell also when I'm on cannedreplies.php ??

It depends on the browser whether it replaces it or inserts it.

OBTW, the earlier version...

It needs to go in the text not the title, a little bit of query running sorted that out.

Actually I think the way it works is a little counter-intuitive, and the title would be a better place than the reply text.

Big fan of your mods, bananalive. I think a nice feature for the future would be an additional field when editing your canned replies, to show notes for usage. Then, when someone selects that canned reply, the notes for usage appear inline in italics. I know a lot of people use this mod so that admins & moderators can post notices or infractions and they need to know how to use the forms.

No. At some point, I will redo all the code for vbulletin 3.8.x - although it already works with 3.8.x it needs cleaning up and improving a bit.

By the way i am using vb3.8.2 and i have not experienced any problems since you fixed the inserting the CR rather than overwrite everything in the reply box :)

During upgrade you will not lose any canned replies. You will however need to edit canned replies which you wish to share, by editing them and checking the share box.

Ok, I have a request from my users.... They want to be able to use "Quote" or "multi-quote". In other words, when you quote a message, then select a canned reply, the canned reply completely wipes the quote text. They would like to be able to quote or multi-quote, and have the canned reply added to the editor, instead of over-writing. And while I'm asking, it would be nice to have a choice of placement, such as adding the canned reply BEFORE, or AFTER the quoted text.

This would be an excellent addition to an already most excellent mod.

This would be wonder full, though i just need it for Admin situational replies. Unless there is something just for admins replies, i would love to use this... but does it work for 3.8
