View Full Version : Forum Display Enhancements - Allow BBCode in Sticky Thread Titles

Due to the pricing and yearly fee of vBulletin I am no longer creating mods for vBulletin, instead I have stepped out of the shadow of vBulletin to create my own stand alone mods. I wish to thank everyone who downloaded and installed my mods but as of now with not being able to afford hosting and vBulletin, I decided to drop vBulletin so hopes of me returning would only happen if my newest venture brings me a nice profit.

Thank you all again
Steve

I was going to do this a while ago and completely forgot about it. Thankyou very much for bringing it back to my attention and nice job.

how to enable it??

i install it on localhost

and i dont find option in admincp or in usergroup permissions

and the version still 1.0

Mythotical

baghdad4ever: this version does not have usergroup permissions or options in admincp. Once its installed, its already working, just use bbcode in a thread title and make it a sticky. version 1.0 is just a mistake, I will change it when I release the updated version with new features.

Jhonny: Yes that the issue I am working on currently, getting bbcode to show on forumhome, when viewing the thread, search results.

It works, but a bad side effect is that you see the BBCode in the thread name once you are in the thread (above the real thread post)

Mythotical

Skyrider: As I stated in the release post, thread titles will not parse bbcode when viewing the forum home or the thread, that is something I am working to change.

Last time, there are no problems. If people keep assuming there are problems I will not support this mod any longer.

Honestly, I like this mod. This can be used very handy on my forums, just it is quite a shame that the bb codes are being displayed in the threads. I'm for this mod though!

Like I stated earlier, right now it doesn't not parse bbcode from thread title when viewing thread or from forumhome. I am currently working on doing that.

Is there a way we can have this for all threads; not just stickies

thanks

Mythotical

aspen: I am working on a version that will do just that.

Allan: Whatcha mean? Smilies in thread titles?

Steve, I got this working in Search posts and Search threads as well as the postbit title on a sticky thread. What other places were you trying to get it to work?

Mythotical
06-11-2008, 10:40 PM
Boofo: Trying to get it set so users could use bbcode in thread titles based on usergroup perms. Also the forumhome trying to get it to reflect there.

Boofo

So you're not doing this just for sticky threads anymore? I liked it better like that.

Mythotical
06-12-2008, 03:11 AM
Well if everyone likes it for sticky only and only 1 person so far has requested it for all threads.

I will not do all thread titles unless more request.

Aside from that, the rest of what I stated still stands.

I'd like it if it was for all threads. :)

In the page's title the bbcode is shown, see this screenshot:

http://rwxrwxrwx.net/sticky_bbcode.png

Both in the HTML's <title> element and on top of the page you can see the BBCode.
This is a nice mod, and would install it if this issue would be resolved ...

Mythotical
06-23-2008, 01:28 AM
Carpetsmoker: Yes and I have stated earlier that it was a bug we are trying to figure out.

James: I will see what I can do but I am not gonna push for all threads.

Carpetsmoker: Yes and I have stated earlier that it was a bug we are trying to figure out.

Thank you, must of missed that.

I'd like it if it was for all threads.

Would you like users to post:

THREAD TITLES LIKE THIS!?

I, for one, do not.

I would like the option to have smilies in all thread titles; not bbcode

thanks

Boofo
06-23-2008, 07:42 PM
Smilies are considered bbcode. ;)

There is possibility to do in thread normal ?

Mythotical
06-24-2008, 08:20 PM
Possibility yes, will I probably not.

yes or not ?

Mythotical
06-25-2008, 05:34 PM
Probably not, security issues, if I manage to find a secure way of using bbcode in all thread titles then I will release but otherwise probably not.

Nothing more on this mod? Almost 2 months with no word on it... anything on the showing bbcode bug? This mod has great potential, shame to see it neglected.

I cast my vote for stickys only, and possibly some admincp options, always my security blanket. :)

Mythotical

Not neglected, I just have a life. LOL

Oh, I thought this had adminCP options. It would work much better that way I think.

orel
08-17-2008, 03:28 PM
can you please do this to normal threads too?

Mythotical
08-17-2008, 03:52 PM
Amm0: It will have admincp options.

orel: No, I have decided it will be too big of a security issue and not many people agree on making it work for normal threads as well.

orel
08-18-2008, 04:09 AM
and what about the people who do want it? in my board it's very important

realmr
08-18-2008, 07:22 AM
so installing this hack un-safe ?

Mythotical
08-18-2008, 05:19 PM
Orel: All I can say to those people is sorry.

realmr: I didn't say that, I was talking about something different. As the mod is now, IT IS safe so go for it.

realmr
08-21-2008, 08:59 AM
Is it possible to restrict the permissions, like per usergroup or per forums ?

Mythotical
08-21-2008, 12:52 PM
Right now it goes along with stickies, if a person is set as a moderator or can make a thread sticky then they can use bbcode in the thread title.

Unfortunately all of my mods will stop being developed as I cannot afford the vbulletin license fee any longer nor can I afford to pay hosting every month along with that yearly fee. So I am moving on to a project for the least part that will include me developing my own php stuff, can't say otherwise my post will be deleted and I'll get in trouble. But all in all, I thank everyone who installed my mods, I will allow for another week of peeps downloading and installing them before I remove them for good.
