support download manager?

so i use a download script here called downloadsII though the cons is that it doesnt support any download manager and wondering what the author meant by this post

i know nothing about the coding but addnig header and have http request would that be hard to add?

To allow download managers, the scripts needs to be able to split files into chunks. You will need PHP knowledge.
