nascartr, there's a LONG line of folks that can't wait for version 2.0 of the Tabbed Forum Home! :D

I hope that we'll see it in February as I'm looking to do a nice push for some changes on my site in February and this would just make things so nice and neat. :)

Ok, new problem...

when I go to

everything's normal, but if I go to

the tables are destroyed?? Any thoughts?

There may be a beta 5, but there is going to be a release candidate before a public release.

AJAX will only load the forums when requested, so in most cases AJAX would be the way to go. There has been some reports that board slows down right after the first install. But that usually has to do with the fact that everyone sees the tabs and starts playing with them all at one time. You know how it is when people get a new toy. Once folks get over the "ooo, shiny" stage, it should return to normal.

I think this solution is for V1.5 I am using Tab Forum Home 1.01 but i tried this also it doesn't work

ya, that solution was for 1.5 only .. I never released a how to for the non ajax version and forums arranged in columns. Once v2 is released, I MIGHT work on an update to the NON AJAX version, but right now its not supported..

V1.5 never worked on my board i have been trying to install it from july, wat to do i want Tabbed on my board with Arrange Forums columns

In v1.5 i got this problem even after i replace .js & .css links

I have a gap between the tabs and the forums that makes it looks broken and ugly. Anyway to fix this? It shows up on IE but not FF. Some members say it shows up for FF too but it looks fine for me in FF.

Looks like it is working just fine.. 3 tabs, pulling up cats under each tab .. what is wrong?

I am having problem with going three level down the categories tree.

Two level: category(id:1) -> forum(id:2)
Three level: category(id:3) -> category>(id:4) -> forum(id:5)

If I used tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=1, forum(id:2) would appear under category(id:1) tab.

However, if I used tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=4, Icannot get forum(id:5) to appear under category(id:4) tab.

I think by default ajax tabbed works with 2 level category. How do I fix this, so I could get some tabs with 2 level category and some tabs with 3 level category to work properly?

haha wery small image, but yes i got the same,
tryed 3-4 times same each time, so gave up.

was thinking its becourse i have vba intergrated,
and would rather have vba intergrated than tabs. ;)

You both need to make sure that the path to you files are correct (/clienscript/... in file edits change that to your full url (http://yourforum.com/clientscript/...).

The CSS file controls the look of all the tabs (even in 2.0).

I don't think so. But v2 uses a modified version (simplified) of the YUI CSS.

For all the people getting this error on 1.5.0:

Hi Bobster, I did this search and I do not see a fix for the discrepancy in output between Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Here is what is happening? It's like the tabs in IE float above where they should?

Edit: I've found two problem. One is I can't see loading.gif and another one is in IE 7 the tabs are kind of messed!

Check all the paths in your .js file for this mod. It's calling / instead of not including the "/" in the beginning.

Rather than dealing with these 'fixes' and such, I'm just waiting for TFH 2.0 ..... admittedly I've thought about adding this version on MANY occasions because I desperately need this mod. But, I'd rather go with the easier install option. :up:

Yes, v2 (which is in Beta 4 right now) has what is called "modules" that can be plugged in via the ACP.... currently we have recent threads, Blogs, News, Albums, Project Tools and a few others.... social groups is one that I've just started on and might be ready when v2 is finally released).. btw, those are just ones that we plan on releasing with it.. the modules system will allow you to create your own and members here will be able to write module addons for this new system...

no set time frame.. all of us are working hard to get it out as soon as possible tho. The beta testers have been a tremendous help so far!

as mentioned above, we've got plenty of beta testers at the moment.

Couple of quick questions....

How can we add a small icon or picture next to the actual text on each tab?

And, is there a way to have the script cycle through the tabs automatically? I want to make sure that folks notice/realize that there are more topics/forums than just the ones on the default tab. :)

I am testing the version 2.0 of the mod and it seems to be working rather well (outside of some specific errors to my site)...so, although I can't give you an ETA (I'm only helping test it out)...it sure seems to be pretty close to being complete.

I know that KK mentioned that there is still a BETA 4. And, once that is complete, it should be released. Just keep an eye out and hopefully it'll be out sooner than later.

Its getting closer.. today was the first time in 2 months that I've actually had some "FREE" time to work on some bugs and enhancements..

v2 is in Beta3 right now and being tested. All testing has been positive with only some minor feed back (mainly enhancement requests) ..

I'll think about releasing beta3 to the public, however, beta3 won't be released here, only the final version will be released here.

on our support site where we have project tools for bug tracking and feedback. All of our Mods now have project tools associated with them and beta versions will only be released and tracked from there.. Once they come out of Beta, they will be released here. It should also be noted that this is all FREE .. there are NO paid anything attached with any of our Mods.. we just chose this route because using Project Tools is not an option here.

Hi, I can't seem to "double click" the category icon to mark this forum as read function.

you have to edit the CSS file that comes with this to match your custom style....

hay. today i tried to install it at one of my forums...
at first i tried Ajax 1.5 version....simply not worked

then i tried 1.01 version.
its showing wired result :(

i first tried it just adding a new forumbits....first i added new variable at index.php ( $forumbits13 = construct_forum_bit(5,1,0); )

then i replace $forumbits with $forumbits13 just to see the result

I would suggest waiting for version 2 if you are having problems. The non ajax version is fairly complicated to install with custom styles, specially when you did your own custom sidebar.

What I would suggest in the mean time is to add this to a default vb style so you get the idea of how to install the Non AJAX version and then try and get it working with your custom style.

I'm having a problem using AJAX Tab Forum Home 1.5.zip with Internet Explorer. It keeps on "Requesting content...". Does anyone have the fix for it to work with IE. So far, it works good with Firefox.

I tried to install this interesting AddOn in my vBulletin 3.8.1 (german) ... but there is no Template FORUMHOME. Is this possible? I don't even get a hit when searching all Templates for "</head>" (forum/admincp/ > Styles and Templates > Search)

I was curious how this product affects overall forum performance. At first thought, I would think that on a forum like ours with a lot of sections, that splitting them up with tabs might reduce load times. But I'm no coder, so I suppose that might not necessarily be the case. Does this product (especially the upcoming v2) add additional queries? Or better yet, can the creators and/or beta testers give me some idea of the performance impact (positive or negative) this has on a busy forum.

I had this problem and had to tweak the mod a little to get it to render correctly in vbadvanced ie stop both versions rendering - not a nice approach but it worked and I get a nice version when script is disabled or when robots come to have a look.

Note if this mod is implemented without a solution for the js disabled in the browser robots that crawl your site will see no content - they only see a text version. If you cannot get it to work you should uninstall. This is a fantastic mod as it keeps most of the content above the fold so persevere

None that you want to hear, cause the only thing you want to hear is a release date, which there isn't one set yet.. most of Beta 4 is complete and will be released to the beta testers when it is 100% finished... good news is that there won't be a beta 5, it will go from beta 4 to RC1 .. probably 2 RC's before I release it here, but the RCs will be public at our site.

It's something mentioned in this thread but I can't find out the post right now. Just try fixing link to your style sheet file. Your styles for those tab doesn't work yet.

you need to use the full paths to the script and css files.

I wish to use your 1.5.0 version of this modification. However, I have customized $forumbits as well as my forumhome tempaltes. I see no reason I need to revert it back just for this mod and not able to customize it later on. I would like to ask if there is any way possible to keep my customized templates but manually edit in any extra codes into those templates. If not, I'm afraid I won't be able to use this. Thanks.

PS. I would be glad to install your future version if this issue can be solved later on.

you don't need to revert it back, just add in the TFH specifics into your custom forumbits.

The easiest way is to compare them against the default vB templates ... won't take more than a few minutes to do that..

I tried to install the AJAX version (1.5) on my site (I am running ver.3.6.8) and ran into some issues:

1. When I went to the forum home I got this:

The errors are:

The tabs are not matching my site's style
No forums are shown

And then when you click on a tab you get this:

The style is totally stripped.

I searched this thread trying to find a fix and did add the full paths to the .css files in the clientscript folder. Is there anything else I am missing? I uninstalled the modification for now until I can figure out a fix.

Your site seems to work fine in FF, however when I click on any of your tabs using IE (IE 8 in screenshot) it shows up as in the attachment.

Ive got javascript enabled though. I tested my site in one IE tab and yoursite in anothr IE tab. My site loaded fine, however yours came back like the attached screenshot.

Weird, your screenshot also shows http://diecastcrazy.com/community/tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=138 in the address bar. You have to right click and open in new window for it to show up like that. Tabs open in a frame so the address should always show http://diecastcrazy.com/community/forums.php in the url bar.

King Kovifor installed the Tabs on my forum home and I just want to know that if I click "uninstall" in my admincp, will my forum return to the way it was exactly or is there something that I need to alter in the code to get it back to the way it was?

I can't get a hold of King and I need to install this as no one like the ajax feature, including myself.

Please let me know if all I need to do is click "uninstall" or if something else needs to be done.

Its not something I want to do, however im asking if theres anyway to either get it to load the style or prevent right click on the tabs incase a member does it.

No forums are shown

And then when you click on a tab you get this:

The style is totally stripped.

I searched this thread trying to find a fix and did add the full paths to the .css files in the clientscript folder. Is there anything else I am missing? I uninstalled the modification for now until I can figure out a fix.

Just FYI....once I upgraded my site to 3.6.12 and re-installed the modification it worked perfectly. I just had to apply the IE fix to remove the space, add the code for the Cyb - Sub-Forum issue and edit the css some and I am good to go.

Now....is the 3.0 YUI version (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=191106) better in any way than this version that I MUST switch over?

I have successfully installed the mod with all the template modifications carefully.

But when i click on any tab, its showing all the forums whereas i have assigned each tab with a separate category.

How did you fix this issue? It seems to always end up with just bulleted URLs.
It means the path to your CSS is file is not correct. Make sure the edits you made in the <head> tags point exact location of the CSS and Javascript files. If all else fails just put the full URL.

The ajax is continuously loading and not showing the tabs with the message "Requesting content".
Previously it was working good, this happened all of a sudden.

Btw installed on 3.8 and so far so good. No real issues.
There is one edit though that should be changed

In step 2b you say paste this

STEP 2b - EDIT Template: FORUMHOME

FIND 

FIRST - Copy all the code from  to  (Including 2 main comments) and save it into you editor of choice as this will be used in an upcomming step.

Then Replace  ...code...  with the code below

Now in any further releases i would just leave the background)color: white out of the div style. Since no one hardly uses vBulletins default colors :)

Hey guys I have this installed on one of my vb3.8.3 boards and it ran without an issue (a couple of page reads on here and worked out of the box).

However for my biggest site, I am trying to work out how to set it up like what is on

I love the way they have it with a certain category or group for site announcements etc above the tabs - any help would be appreciated.

I love the mod and have clicked installed - however wont be holding my breath for v2 since we have been told since sept last year they were just writing up the installtion so would like to get this 1.5 version as displayed on the forums above.

Make sure that the forum you are calling from is a category... if you are calling things that are not a category it has errors.

Also make sure that you have edited the correct part of the code to put your category number.

I don't know if anyone who is running this successfully will read this, but I was wondering how you manage offering your users both a tabbed version as well as an untabbed version?

Do you use parent/child styles or do you have two separate styles?

Pretty easy to do that actually.... The basic code that generates the Cat/Forum Layout inside of each tab containers is the same code you would use OUTSIDE the tabbed script itself (either above or below) .. piece of cake bud :)

Try removing both the / before clientscript .. (in red below)

No problems.. this is the CSS file.. clientscript/tabs/ajaxtabs.css its pretty easy to match your style colors..
