I have been reading about people that run their test version of vBulletin right on their computer. I was wondering, how is this done? I have Mac OS 10.4. If this is an easy option I'd love to do it as I would like to save some server usage on my host.
Thanks in advance for any tips/advice!!

You would need to install a webserver (apache), php and mysql on your mac. Keep in mind that a test site will use very little resources on any server as only you and a few select people would be using it.

yes, Leopard comes with Apache2 pre-installed.

Search the internet for "MAMP". This should install all the necessaries on a MAC, the same as "WAMP" installs them on a Windows platform.

Thank you!! I actually just found that this morning and will play around with it tonight!! Thank you again for the help!!
I don't have the newest Mac OS as I am on a laptop that is issued by the state to all teachers, though I was given admin access on it by the school tech guy, helps to be connected..lol.

I am on Leopard and I use XAMPP (it works with Tiger too). I had a bit of trouble with MAMP so that's an option as well if you run into problems.
