Here is another one that is said to be the greatest and latest... but I have no experience with it.

Hi Sara3,
I suggest Lightspeed, from personal experience.

Yes vBulletin should be able to run on any webserver that supports the minimum version of PHP.

From experience Apache will work very well, but Lighttpd will work too. I have just used apache more so I can talk about it more.
Do you guys read what Marco said?

Squid as Reverse Proxy for static images, Apache for serving dynamic content. Works very very well - just some work to set it up

I installed Litespeed and its PHP5 component on a new server and am having problems with VB and installing some great addons, like ibProArcade and Advanced Statistics. Most other things install and work fine.
Do I need to install the very latest ov everything or is there a known compatibility issue?

Please use the vB.com server configuration forum, or on vB.org Forum and Server Management (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=232)
Pre-Sales is not the place to answer such questions.
