Everything is handled in the usergroup settings. You can define in vbulletin who had access to what, and or even make a totally new admin group, mod or other. It's pretty str8 forward.

you are missing the image which is why its doing that. if you dont want to return the missing image, you can edit the template to remove it.

Can a moderator or super moderator adjust user points -- add points, subtract points? Or is this function limited to admin?

through the admin control panel, only an admin can edit directly. using the Post Award System any group you wish can be enabled to use the ajax popup from within threads on every post. i recommend giving unlimited access to trusted groups only (such as the ones you listed)

Im attempting to install. FTP the files but when adding the product I get this message "Please upload all of the files that came with vBCredits before installing or upgrading!" and I have re uploaded the files as is twice. Unsure why it's telling me this.

Currently the last remaining issue that keeps vbcredits from being 1.4 gold is the broken post/thread negation awards. to allow you to at least complete the action without errors, the code was simply disabled. So, if you want to remove credits yourself i suggest allowing your moderators the use of the post award system, such that they can deduct credits as part of their regular maintenance, from right in the threads themselves.

Unfortunately upon closer inspection I guess i dont see such a setting in vbexperience. You also cant set vbcredits to use a different field, so appears they cant work together. Keep in mind vBCredits is just a points system, many sister addons are on my site and not at vbulletin.org

if you see that in the user editor in the admin control panel, then it is normal. the decimal settings will take of rounding it into prettier numbers. that happens to credits when there are percents involved.

I get Error 500 Internal Server Error whenever I try to use the Mass credit Updater - even when trying to update just 1 member. I have a great server with 60k members and 2 million posts. PHP memory limit has never been an issue before (set to 256M) - so im scratching my head here.

Make sure you use the right version of vbcredits for the right version of vbulletin, the license system on our site is the download for the vbulletin 3.8.x version of vbcredits, while the version in this thread is for 3.7, although there isn't much difference.

Make sure you follow the instructions for installing, carefully, and don't skip anything this includes all template edits. If your still having issues, please use vbcredits.com for support.

As to what to spend credits on, we've released a number of free addons that extend the fuctionality of our itemshop in a number of ways. More information on that can be found on our site. We designed the itemshop to be modular so people can use it for a number of systems. Both addons found on this site and our own site.

Yep, I made the 14 edits in the 10 templates, which I might add was easy. The FAQ page on vbcredits.com page for "vbcredits" is empty. I registered there almost 24 hours ago and still haven't received the activation email. There's no option to resend it either. I can sign in, FAQ page is still empty whether I'm signed in or not. The install was fine. That's if the install directions the author provided were correct.

I just want to know about the raffle & lottery that's supposed to be on this release. I don't need the shop really. I have a link on the usercp for "Donations & Drawings", when I click it I go to a "Donations" box and a "Richest Players" list. Wheres the raffle? The very few options even talking about drawings is in "vbcredits specialty options" but they only ask about people picking numbers, public winner display, show in postbit, and that's about it....

Can you check your apache error logs to see what those actual errors were? If they were in the past, try to trigger a new error and then check your logs. Post here what it says (although sometimes they will tell you directly what is wrong, such as wrong file permissions)

In vBCredits they are called Drawings, and you manage them from the link under the vbcredits menu in the admincp. You have to set some up, and make sure each usergroup has a nonzero limit for the amount of tickets they can purchase. Afterwards you will see drawings and the ability to buy tickets for them in the manage credits page in the usercp (the one with the donation form and the top richest members)

We had server move, so email system might not have been working at the time. It is up and fine now. PM me your username and I will resend your activation on the site.

They are set per usergroup in the usergroup settings. You can turn any of them off by putting 0 for the value.

vbulletin_credits.php is part of vbulletin, not vBCredits (in this case, credits refers to the list of people who made vbulletin, not earned currency points). Just put back that file from stock vbulletin zip and you should be fine.

Hi. I have a few questions about this plugin. Does it have the ability to:

1) Let users buy things from a shop. Items may include increased permissions like decrease the flood level limit, being able to view a specific forum, or increased PM box quota

2) Promote usergroup from buying in the shop or auto

3) Deduct points when double-posting or download an attachment

4) Give other users points

5) Disable the options that will be unnecessary on my forum such as a bank

2) There is a canspend permission which vBCommerce obeys, you can disable that or enable at will

The only issue I have is with the way it's displayed in the header (see attached). Does anyone know how to fix this? However, I can't see any alignment code in the headinclude template, which would allow me to fix this.

i just upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4 and its messed up my forum :( i must have vb credits on my forum.... and 1.4 did not work at alll.... and there is no 1.3 available...so i cant downgrade....

after upgrading... and done the template changes... i got weird error on every where.. none of the ajax functions were working... page was broken... half of the template bcom white.... and credits were not showing anywhere....
and i got an error message on top of all pages

Well if you turn off everything else (putting 0 for values of things you dont want to use usually does it, but read setting descriptions) it shouldnt really do anything except have files sitting on your server that hardly do anything :p

Dont downgrade - that will leave you with even more problems than before and also wouldnt work at all (vbulletin doesnt implement or support that).

Blank Pages: remove all occurrences of

do=options&

from (forums)/includes/xml/cpnav_credits.xml and save it to your server again. refresh the admin menu and the links will work. its a libxml bug with vbulletin.

I can help get your site straightened out personally if you PM me an admin login (and maybe FTP). Downgrading will seriously make the problem much worse. I'm sure the solutions to fixing the issues you have are small and settings based, I've gotten this working on dozens of sites personally by now :p and the install count says it too so shouldnt be that hard.

I mean, shouldn't there be an award icon located within the thread a person was given a donation for? Or...if they receive an award or win a drawing, shouldn't there be an icon within their postbit, profile, CP that displays this?

for getting post awards, you can enable them to be publicly displayed in the global vbcredits specialty settings, which makes a table with the award information appear beneath the posts that have them.

I'm currious how much money some sites have made from our mods, lol, aka like the most amount? may have to do poll some time for kicks. Gaming site I run, with custom gaming itemtype for vbcommerce, I've made around $500 or more in the last few months between dark and I. Not a lot but helps towards vbcredits main site hosting bills. And that was using vbcommerce as Beta lol... still be interesting to find out other other sites are earning...

Damn I really wish you guys didn't have to put in a "Plugins" folder in the uploads. I'm sitting here like an idiot struggling to upload this.

I uploaded every where they belong, but I'm stuck at "Plugins". My forum directory didn't originally have a plugins, so I made one, and uploaded them, but when I try to upload the product, it says I need to upload credits_installer.php, which I thought I did.

As you can see I have no idea what I'm doing :)

if you open up the zip file for vbcredits and look in the upload folder, youll see some folders that match what you already have in your forum folder on your server. Upload the files from the zip to your server in the corresponding folder, including the stuff from the plugins folder (so only put those files inside the plugins folder inside your newly created plugins folder on your server - everything else goes in the other corresponding folders..)

basically, most ftp programs will handle missing folders and subfolders and stuff if you highlight and transfer everything from the zip's upload folder into your forum root folder on your server.

To be honest, I did do that. In fact I uploaded the credit_installer in almost every folder just to be safe, but it's still not working. I know I'm doing something wrong, just wish I could pin-point it properly.

Currently the last remaining issue that keeps vbcredits from being 1.4 gold is the broken post/thread negation awards. to allow you to at least complete the action without errors, the code was simply disabled. So, if you want to remove credits yourself i suggest allowing your moderators the use of the post award system, such that they can deduct credits as part of their regular maintenance, from right in the threads themselves.

How is this going? Have you worked it out yet? this is the only bug that is holding me off from doing this event on my site where I am going to use the credits as tokens in a lottery like event.

i have been working on other projects. personally i feel that correcting that last issue is something that can be decently dealt with until the core of vbcredits is changed, and that wont happen until 2.0

no, it said dont make them if you have tms installed.

to disable banking system, set 0 for maximum savings and/or loans in the usergroup settings for the groups you wish to disable it for.

you can use the Modify Accounts by Criteria tool under the vBCredits menu in the admincp.

Select users who have savings, and for what it finds use C+S for the checking value, and 0 for the S value at the top, and it will take care of the rest :)

No, these are not supported. Theres also no hooks for most of them :-/ would require a lot of file editing.

The variables are rendered in the templates you were instructed to add them to. If you want to change or add more places, then corresponding hooks need to have the rendering code applied to them. if you tell me where you want to add it, i can probably tell you the plugin part to add.

You are right, but they still obey your censor and bbcode settings at least. Most people dont allow use of the post award system for nontrusted groups (although it is built to allow it).

Regarding the total credits for a user, I am trying to add that to another template outside of the vBCredits system called "Meet Our Staff". When I add:

$userinfo[credits]


... we get only the Checking Account, not the totals.

Also, I noticed the same problems existing in vBCredits in the user profile-->statistics page.

Dear dark and pix,

We implemented vBCredits on our forum with nearly 80K registered users and upwards toward 3M monthly PVs. We renamed "Credits" based on our team's suggestion and off we went. What a great idea you guys have!

I spent about 10 hours tweeking various configuration combinations and running the mass update tool. After all that time, I still don't understand how that tool actually calculates legacy credits (LOL), but nevermind, after working all night, I came up with a baseline for our users, many of which have been around for nearly 10 years.

Then, after abit more tweeking, I created a spreadsheet and a table so our mod and admin teams could understand which activities awarded what credits to which (primary) user groups (more on this in another post). I ended up installing the BBCode Tables mod just so I could present this info to our users in an easy to read format.

Then, as you guys know by now, with the force of our user base being me asking questions, I starting asking questions to you guys in rapid fire.

Your replies have been, if I may summarize "we have got cool (commercial) products other than vBCredits, like vBAdvertise/Customize/Commerce and more"..... All of this is great stuff, and I agree you guys have a winning formula for a potential to become one of the top vB addons, far more useful than ipProArcade etc. or the other popular mods (and more profitable!). For sure, credits++ has the potential to be the most powerful. You could build an entire on-line game around vBcredits, more fun that anything in the video arcades!! But I digress.....

However, for our site (and I suspect others as well), we want every user to give currency to everyone, as rewards, for fun, even for profit. We want users to trade them and exchange them. All of this will become the "core economic engine" of the site, so all users can get the max benefit from vBCommerce and more in the future. First, we need a solid economic engine, and vBCredits is not quite there yet.

I think your business model of giving away "the core" vBCredits is very sound and is a must for your future growth. I can understand why you are working on licensing and addons that compliment the core system. Based on my (short few days) work with your product, you have some infrastructure problems as well. I would like to express those to you, if you don't mind, in order to help based on experience running an active, fairly large community.

First, your "free core" is incomplete. Your transaction logging and auditing for admins is non-existent, so it is not possible to see an overall picture of what is happening! This is a very basic requirement.

Second (actually part of the first), the "core banking system" does not provide overall banking statistics such as "total currency in the central bank", "total of all savings and by usergroups " "total of checking and also by usergroups" etc. These are pretty basic economic stats that you must provide to make the "core" feasible to move beyond "an experimental core" to "the future of vBulletin addons". To be a cyber currency for a site, admins and users must know what is the total of all currency in the system, including the central bank, so we can calculate ratios, FDP (Forum Domestic Product, LOL) and know how much currency is floating with the users versus in the central banks, etc. This is not very difficult for you to do in vBCredits, and completes the "core banking system" so to be useful to build virtual economies. This is critical for you for all your underlying future business models.

Third, I forgot! I was so focused on the above, I forgot the other items in my head!! (Something about the need for admins and mods to edit award comments, because we need all users to be able to participate in the virtual economy, not only priv' users)

Basically, you guys are "on to something big" and it seems, from a new admin on the block using your core for a fairly large and busy forum perspective, you guys are seemingly ignoring developing the core free system in order to pursuit commercial addons. I can understand, perhaps, you want to make money, and that is good, because we are certainly willing to pay. I have nothing against you guys making big money, that is why I am writing this post!

However, as I have mentioned, your "core system" is incomplete and therefore the foundation is weak and this weakness is a constraint to your business growth. I am sure you are well aware of this, and you are (more than likely) resource constrained, and maybe you have choosen to focus on the newer (commercial) addons so you can someday "quit your day jobs", which is a great idea! Actually, I don't know what is in your heads, but I do know, as a user, your core product is a constraining weakness.

Althought you are focused on good things such as "advertising models for boards", I can tell you that this has much less potential for your future revenue that focusing on the "core system" so boards can build cyber economies. With a strong core cyber economy, anything is possible. I mean anything!

Please, please. Consider my post as a friend who likes you guys very much and only wishes you the best! I want you to get rich! You can do it, I believe, if you refocus your efforts on the core system for a few months and strengthen it. If you do, it will pay off in big real hard currency and strengthen your commercial offerings.

In the beginning, (a few days ago, LOL), I was very excited as were our users. However, as we use the system, there are key essential parts missing in the core. I kindly suggest that you need to build vBCredits as a viable core economic-engine first, and when you do, the sky is the limit for you guys. Developers will even develop on top of your core. You must know this already!

Please. Fix the core engine. I am happy to help guide you based on our site, because we need your engine for our core economy now. (I notice that others have communicated bits-and-pieces of this message to you as well). We don't need an Advertising model, we have one, LOL (however, we might use vBAdvertise in the future for sure!) We need an internal, virtual, economic model first. We want our forums to be a cyber community with a virtual economy where users can interact with each others with virtual currency. If you guys can do this, you are the big winners as so are board admins and users.

Thanks for listening. Please, consider my advice, and refocus on improving the core. If you do, you will make more money and maybe even become famous.

So, I can't help much more. The Developers, if they have time, could help if they exposed these exact processes and algorithms a bit more so we can easily understand what happens behind the scenes.

Otherwise, you will have to read the code and decipher on your own.

Since I upgraded it to new version v1.1.0 last month, our users don't receive credits for reputation points (positive and negative). When I disable this product, credits for reputation points are working again :-(.

if that hack is replacing the default vbulletin system internally, then they need to include the vbulletin hooks so that my system (and others that might be integrated there) can run their regular code there. otherwise if they are leaving it out, vbcredits doesnt execute there. there isnt much i can do at that point, have you shown this issue to that author?

set to 0 your additive referral bonus for your usergroups. it is NOT the same as the referral award, but i think you got them confused.

Well, the winner gets the winning number listed in their transaction log, but otherwise it isnt stored after it has been drawn.

This product is still being maintained, but development on the 1.x branch is stopped, and wont be continued at vbulletin.org. I am still giving support for it here, but on my site is where you will find a lot of addons and where vbcredits 2.0 will be released.

that looks pretty good but your style has been heavily changed from the default so you might have to get creative. you can always move around the stuff that you add until it appears in a place that looks right.

look at the other lines in the navbar area - do they have classes on them that need to also be applied to the new line you added for vbcredits? your style's css might not be expecting to style that line, so the default is making it center.

You put 0 for the number of referrals per referral point. it needs to be 1 or higher - it is NOT the same as the referral award (it has to do with the additive referral bonus). once you fix that the error will go away and your style will fix itself.

I don't think we will move the users to another usergroup, because if they become active again, which they often do, then we have to move them back. That that would not work for us.

So, I think I'll add the check to credits_daily.php as you suggested. I might add a new vB Option in the AdminCP for this instead of hardcoding our two year rule.

I looked at that line in credits_daily.php. Perhaps my post was not clear, or I am missing something, or simply am making a mistake.

I want users who have been inactive for two years to receive no credit for anything (especially credit for having their old posts viewed, since we get a lot of traffic).

Does this one line in credits_daily.php "do it all", in other words, it is the one line that adds user credits for post views, posts, etc.?

:p well its a combination of a couple sql tricks. the first sets the canearn flag to 1 or 0 (true or false, but it gets typecasted to int because thats the column type) based on the activity date.

the second multiplies your credits against that flag... if you can earn credits, then its 1 * your credits = your credits stay the same. if you cant earn credits, then its 0 = your credits are now 0.

this isnt implemented by vbcredits no, but if you were making something custom you can query the user table based on usergroupid for a sum of the credits column

it would probably be a small job you would have to pay to make custom. the query part is pretty simple (stuff like: SELECT SUM(credits) FROM user WHERE usergroupid = X) but the actual arranging nicely on your homepage with templates and such is more in depth.

your usergroup loan limit is 1000 but your global loan minimum is 200k - fix one or the other to make a valid range otherwise any attempt to get a loan will fail.

In the very first global setting for vbcredits, look in the description and theres a direct link to it. (the setting to enable vbcredits)

Some addons are listed here: http://www.vbcredits.com/projects/vbcredits/ along the left sidebar. However theres plenty of other addons that have variable settings to configure to use with vbcredits, plus third party addons that may be using vbcredits but didnt have to notify me

if that hack is replacing the default vbulletin system internally, then they need to include the vbulletin hooks so that my system (and others that might be integrated there) can run their regular code there. otherwise if they are leaving it out, vbcredits doesnt execute there. there isnt much i can do at that point, have you shown this issue to that author?

this should do the trick: go into vb admin panel, Plugins & Products tab and the Plugin Manager link. Find the vBCredits - Earn / Lose Granted / Received Reputation plugin and edit it. Change Execution Order to 2 and save it. See if that fixes it.

for the error: set to 1 your global setting for number of valid referrals per referral point - thats not actually the award they get for a referral

THAT is set in the usergroup settings, which is also where the other two settings you are looking for are.

if you want anything displayed the edits have to be made. however, there are visibility settings for turning stuff off for certain groups so you wont have to always go to profiles and stuff if you are a staff member

hm, seems that a rare couple people have the cron reset their credits. seems you are one of them. are you using the birthday, activity, or paycheck awards? do you use the bank or lottery? if no to all of them, you can disable the credits daily scheduled task.

When ever someone is active, posts etc... the points are given to all members. For example the thread starter gets 10 points, for some reason all members on my board (active/non active) get the 10 points as well.

yep, all awards can have negative values. if you mean the post award system (where you click the gold icon) you have to enable the corresponding usergroup permission first

i found a little bug.
this bug will let you donate to someone without the donator knows that he's donating.

for example i made this form:

Normally we do this by clicking on icon in the top right corner area of a post. Then, you have a choice "Gain" or "Lose". Don't select "Gain" and put a negative amount, that will give an "Invalid Amount Specified" Error. You should select "Lose" and put "a normal" (non-negative) amount.

How is version 2 coming along?

Because that 1 issue is still preventing me from using this modification to its full potential.

Currently the last remaining issue that keeps vbcredits from being 1.4 gold is the broken post/thread negation awards. to allow you to at least complete the action without errors, the code was simply disabled. So, if you want to remove credits yourself i suggest allowing your moderators the use of the post award system, such that they can deduct credits as part of their regular maintenance, from right in the threads themselves.

i am waiting to see what vb4's plugin system looks like before i start development. if its radically improved (like say, on the level of drupal or wordpress) then i will develop vbcredits 2.0 for vb4 only. however, regardless of platform, the new version will only be available on my site - still for free though.

I've only looked through the first 30 pages, so I am unsure if this has been asked before, but how can I implement the credits.php page which displays the top four "Richest Users" (which is what I want) on the welcome panel of the forum home page?

I know that I have to edit the welcomepanel template, and I saw the 'credits_toprow' template which displays that I want, however I cannot get that to be displayed in the welcome panel.

that is a file permissions error completely unrelated to vbcredits - it would show up for any addon you are trying to install that adds cron tasks. looks like you need to chmod functions_cron.php to at least 644, but it might be easier to pass that error along to your host/sysadmin

sounds like you were trying to import the zip file, not the product xml out of the unzipped zip file.

there is not an automated way to undo lottery transactions, even if you were to take them out of the database, you have to unserialize and reserialize the array of users...

Ok now seriously, Vbcredits is working great, but I feel like there are bits I am missing, I would like to see more accounting logs for the add ons, such as game room betting , Arcade pass, play,Prizes and the lottery numbers and payouts no big deal while things are free, but the moment I start charging for something all hell will break loose if there is an error and I can't verify what happened.

vbcredits 2.0 is being written with tracking at the core. its also being made in a way that any number of these transactions are bundled and sent all at once to keep the database load down. currently regular awards are not tracked as they would be inserted in realtime, and potentially get huge.
