If you are getting an error about the database being corrupted, then you should optimize repair your tables. You may have to do it a couple of times before the tables say "OK".

Did something change on your server? This error "Can't
connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' " is usually either due to a wrong config.php file (in which case you wouldn't even be able to logon to the site) or a server issue. And the index.html thing is also a server issue, I believe. Have you talked to your host about this?

It's hard to tell what is happening if you don't post the error message.

I'll ask again.. have you talked to your host about this? It seems that some of these errors are from your server and your host needs to fix it.
