Some vB forums, when you click the https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2008/11/25.gif button with no text highlighted, you get this:

[ quote]|[/quote]

That's not the default; the default seems to be this:

[ quote] [/quote]|

I asked the people who run a forum with the former example, and they have no idea why theirs works that way. On vBulletin.com, I was directed to ask this question here. :)

I want mine to be the first example, with the cursor between the BB codes, so you can just paste text from the clipboard without moving the cursor.

On my forums, it is as the first example - you click quote and your cursor is put inbetween the quote code. I'm on firefox. I just tested on Safari and it is the same way. I'm running 3.6.8. What version are you running and what browser?

The same, 3.6.8 and Firefox.

The cursor appears in the middle for me.

I'll make mine different if I have to. ;)

My vBulletin must have been made on a Friday, then.

Seriously, there has to be a reason why some are different.

Have you changed anything in the quotes template? It's got me confused as I never even paid attention to how it worked until you posted this thread. ;)

No, I haven't touched the quotes template. Maybe I should.

I'd say revert it but if it hasn't been changed you won't be able to do that.

You could always add a few letters to it and then revert it and see if that does anything. I'm at a loss here.

Are you using the simple or advanced editor options on your site?

Hey SpeakeasyMedia, I finally had my forum do what you are talking about! I just recently made it so the Quick Reply has WYSIWIG and if you hit Quote when it is in that mode, it puts the cursor after the Quote boxes. If you change it to regular standard editor and hit Quote, it puts the cursor in the middle. I just did this with the Quick Reply box here (click on the "A" box in the upper right).

Wanna share that, too? ;)

Oh, that. I thought you were talking about something else. Sorry about that. ;)

Lynne's suggestion works for the quick reply but I'm not going to get rid of WYSIWYG for the standard reply, where it still shows the cursor outside the bbCode.
