Hi guys,

Long story short one of our moderators was merging threads into a lengthy and detailed article he had written. He merged some new posts and it put them at the top of the thread. He didn't want to throw it out of order chronologically so he deleted the first post in the thread. Well that deleted the WHOLE THREAD without warning.

First off I think there should be some sort of confirmation when deleting a single post is going to take out the whole thread, that would have most likely prevented this.

I need some help extracting that article from a backup file I have saved from a couple weeks back.

Can anyone tell me how to extract just the one thread from the SQL file, and restore it to the proper forum?

Any help with this is very greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Greg

Easiest is to simply lookup the posts in the backup file, and manually copy&paste the text creating a new thread.

Ok, how do I do that in the backup file? It's just a raw SQL file right now. Can I open it in notepad?

Thanks,

Greg

Open it in wordpad (or notepad), search for that thread using "Find" and manually recreate that thread. Thebn search for all posts with parentid of original first posts postid and there's all your miissinng posts as we'll.
