This will add a fully featured radio and TV streaming player and stations library to your forum.

This mod is "Re-usable Code", meaning you can modify it and release your own version.

You are responsible for the streams you add to your website. The mod author doesn't take responsibility for possible copyright infringements in some countries and with some stations.

Arabic and Chinese don't work with Ajax, so this mod won't work, sorry.

Planned features for next version 2.1 (note that the features are my wish list, and may not be feasible so they are not final)

- on/off switch for each station info
- check if Radio and TV text on navbar is hardcoded, and make it not it's not hardcoded, it's the phrase "rs_radiostations"
- make a system where admins can add they own players (don't forget support for flash, embed and object, just let them add the whole code with replacement variables)
- hide profile info if no radio has been listened or no favorites
- put javascript in a .js

i'm having issues loading local stations and changing stations in 3.6.8, i'm using 2.0 FF and IE 7. both have the exact same problem. I'm also on a vista machine. I'm going to tempt from an XP machine in a min but i don't think thats the problem. I click add and it freezes. If i load the default statoins and select a different besides what opens, it also freezes. I want to say it's a browser issue but i'm not sure why or how.

I added the 240 UK stations (I know it's not to do with the Dream guy) but it doesn't seem to work. I get my forum URL before the URL of the media stream (got that from right click - properties).

Looked at the XML file and can't see as anything should be causing this. Any ideas?

yes i agree but i just found it strange that i have been using your 3.6.8 radio for months with no problems, then i upgraded to vbulletin 3.7.0 beta 3 and found i could not chose a station, then i seen
your 3.7.0 radio and thought to my self ahhh maybe this will fix the problem, but it only made it worse.
no offense i love the hack like made, but just makes no sense that the radio would suddenly stop working with errors as soon as i upgraded to radio & tv hack 3.7.0 beta.

I don't know what the problem is, so I don't know what to fix.

Here when I go to the Ministry of Sound station my FF crashes and the other stations work fine. But that's because of the WMP plugin for FF in Windows Vista.

I found out that the Microsoft Windows Media Plugin for Firefox causes the crashes and freezes with the mod and that's why the "illegal operation" messages appears.

Sometimes it doesnt crashs or freezes, but most times which is very annoying. I don't remember it happened with the vb 3.6 mod of radio & tv.

I can't tell you how to solve this, perhaps there's a new media player plugin for firefox out, let's see.

By the way, I can report two things related to this mod:

1) Last played option is always none :confused:
2) When I try to click on radiostation in profile, it says: openRadioAndTV is not defined

Did I miss something? :erm:

When I open Ministry of Sound default station here my Firefox crash. I think theres a problem with this stream, it happened on the 3.6 version as well. I think some of the default streams are outdated. KNAC does the same. Then again I'm on Windows Vista using a special WMP plugin for Firefox.

Read install.txt and redo your template edits, and you should be fine.

Last played option should appear after people play a station.

To change the profile links you need to edit the plugin "Favorite Stations in Profile".

Okay, I thought about the freezes and crashes:

You said in 3.6 it would be the same and it would be the reason of the stream. I had some favorite stations in 3.6 running fine, but in 3.7 these streams are freezing or crashing the firefox browser and I need the taskmanager to kill the firefox.exe ..

Like I said, I'm sorry I can't help you to solve this, because sometimes it freezes and other times it works correctly.

I think its a problem with the new ajax method in vB 3.7, that uses Yahoo.util.connect. I googled for problems with it and found nothing. Whoever finds out what the problem is wins a cookie.

That's the only thing that changed between the 3.6 version and this one. And here it crashes/freezes when you change a station, which is when the ajax is used. Everyone seems to love this Yahoo javascript functions though. I have no idea what the problem may be, if someone has a clue please let me know, I'm interested in this too.

I assume that you don' t need the plug-in, so I don' t think this is a problem of this add-on. You better ask the plug-in developer.

You shouldn't need the Firefox plugin to work with this mod. It's just an update for WMP support in general. The conflict we noticed occured only after vB Beta 4 was installed for several members including myself.

Actually, jaycob, read my post #93. Even with the plugin installed errors still do occur...At least on my end and several members of my site. The problem existed only after Beta 4 was installed. Now I understand completely that vB is in Beta so I expect problems to occur.

In the usergroup permissions when i update it doesn't and always shows no :eek:

Correct... I goto lets say admins and set the permissions to yes for each part of the tv and radio settings then click save but when I go back to check there back at no...

I updated the zip file, the admincp/ folder was admin/ which was wrong.

Also re-import the product file, as I changed the "last played" in profile to show "Today" and "Yesterday" instead of the hard date.

Download the zip file again and re-upload the files in upload/. Also remove your admin/ folder in your server, if it only has the radio PHP file.

1 - you can change the Real Player code in the templates
2 - not sure I understand... the only info we get on the songs is what is displayed by the player
3 - not sure if I'll ever add tags to this, but I'll consider. would be a lot of work to do.

404 usually means the page isn't being found. Where did you upload radioandtv.php to?

I just installed this and that went fine through each step. I added the link to the navbar and it brings up the page. The first time it came up and loaded with a station but continues to crash on every page load after that. Clicking on the links to change the station also causes the browser to crash. I have to either reboot or reset my router to get it the browser to function again.

I'm using IE7... v2.0 of the radio/tv addon... and vb3.7.0 b6

Anyone got any clues or fixes?

Perhaps you could try using the "change station" script in another way, with a new code perhaps?

I can't think of a way to change the ajax script, the last time I did use ajax without using vB's functions I had many strange issues. But if someone offers me a good working ajax code I can look into it.

Not entirely sure, but I just noticed hundreds of stations have feeds, but tuck their feed into a playlist file now. Some I've been able to get working by extracting the feed, but some don't.

I've been looking at this modification a few times today, not for my vBulletin but a clients.

I have one question though, surely you cannot add just any stream without the permission from either the radio or tv stations in question. I know some stations here in the UK do not permit use of such modifications, and block IP's after awhile from websites using their bandwidth.

Many sites now go to extreme lengths to ensure their content is not streamed to other websites.

I am designing something similar to this modification, however the modification is perfectly legal, and is being backed by a large Canadian company.

Laws and legal issues arise with any type of modification that can or could infringe copyright laws of certain countries, this does apply to the UK - not too sure about the USA though. If authorization is granted from the source then obviously you can use their streams.

I removed one station, and that station in my favorite!
Now, that station name is nothing and not removed from my favorite list!

Mate. I have read these forums for a long time, and having just upgraded our VB to 3.7 I decided to install your Radio/Tv mod.

WOW ! Brilliant work.

Absolutely awesome, having runa streaming radio site for a few years, I can tell you the coding for the streams, etc wore me out lol.

Anyway back to my Q!?

Do you have the correct format, example xml, for tv streaming.
And explain how we and where we upload this to, so that it integrates with radio Streams.

Or do we just add, TV streams to Radio Streams xml file ?

If so does the system, automatically ascend the list into alphabetical order ?

Hello and thanks :)

To add TV streams you don't need to create a XML, just add the TV stream in the mod page. If you don't see the option to add streams check your usergroup permissions.

The stream listings are all in alphabetical order, no other order is supported.

It's great work! Awesome!
It's installed with a few problems. You may help to me out.
When users run it on non-English language, there is no hyperlink for "Edit Station", "delete station", "add station to favorites", "click to open in bigger window", "doesn't work", and "is a duplicate". In addition, system only allows adding one new station and also no statistics data are shown. Any advice would be appreciated.
