I do agree with Nix on this. Nix.. about the image resize, I need for the image bbcode tag. I do not think vb does have that feature as default. It's only resize the attachment.

If you do code stand alone product, just show us the link and demo. I'm for sure I'll be one of them to purchase.

Goldbrick will convert img tags to highslide. Or was it just links posted. I can't remember. But its not hard to do both. There is no need for file edits.

Edit: Just tested and yes, I still have the image resize with highslide effect even I disabled then removed the image resize.

Currently I have a youtube video block on my profiles through another hack.
I would like to change the youtube video block, so that it is played with JW FLV Media Player.
I would also like to add a music block with JW FLV Media Player which can handle playlists.

Is this possible with Goldbrick?

I have been trying to find vb 3.7 profile examples with Goldbrick, but that is really hard to find.
Is Goldbrick a media gallery as well? Does it index attachments in any way?

Currently I use Links and Download Manager, which uses JW FLV Media Player as well. Is there any integration with Links and Download Manager or are you planning to add this? It would be nice to be able to pull files from Links and Download Manager.

How does this work? I didn't see this feature anywhere in the options. All I found was that I had the "media" BBCode tag and had the ability to change it to whatever I wanted....

I am running 3.7. RC4 with PHP 525 and when I turn on GoldBrick --- any topic with related media will not open --- it times out.

This occurs on images, .wmv, .swf etc.

The only way to get the topic to open is to disable Goldbrick.

Any ideas on what is causing this?

1. Edit the file of the site you want to change. So for google edit google.php and change the width or height settings to something else. Right now I have it set to the sites default sizes.

2. Hit the right arrow button on your keyboard ;)

Dailymotion probably change its format. To fix it all you have to do is edit the dailymotion.php file.

Nix! I just got finished reading like 40 pages, hundreds of posts and can't believe how many people have posted the bbcode error and how many times you have had to reply with "php 5".

Too bad they didn't read their way through or there wouldn't have been so many inquiries.

One person even offered money to have a fix for php 4! Your work is brilliant and this is a must have mod but a lot of us don't have the luxury of simply upgrading to php 5 or in my case, built and moded the site for a friend (free) and can't communicate with the host provider.

Even though I don't own the site I really want to install this one. I would be willing to donate something towards a php 4 fix for this mod!

If your will to do this for those of us that are willing to pay, how bout setting something up that would require payment first before allowing the download so you can pocket a little cash for all your efforts and make a whole boat load of people happy all at the same time.

It's a for sure fact that you'll get payed because I would be the first person in line!

I found that same problem.. But I think i was just like had the URL formatted wrong.. Once I went back and put them everything was fun. VBulletin added the URL for some reason. Until I just did Media button first then the url.

Yes Nix.... Just popup only but no highslide, it's sort of lagging a bit and possible to have the next, previous button so we can move to next video directly instead of closing it down and click on next one? Also, option to display video side way (like a block) is a great feature to have.

It was a great feature I will admit but overall. I think something like it should be released. Many of my members have loved using lightbox. It cleans up huge images as well as makes Videos a great feature. Easy open easy close. Plus music goes the same way. I hope in time things can get better with both.

It was a great feature I will admit but overall. I think something like it should be released. Many of my members have loved using lightbox. It cleans up huge images as well as makes Videos a great feature. Easy open easy close. Plus music goes the same way. I hope in time things can get better with both.

I still hope to find a fix on the CMPS pages.

I'll still have the classic style and the lightbox version. I'm just not using highslide or vbulletin. I'm surprised how limited the vbulletin version is. Kind of disappointed, though I'm very happy with what I'm using now.

Hi Nix, I just tried installing the 1.8, and when I tried to import the product, i got an error message saying that I needed at least version 5 PHP. so I checked my webhost, and they are showing verision 5.2.5, BUT in my admincp>maintenance>view php info, it is showing version 4.4.8.

Is that normal? I thought the PHP would be dictated by the server that my forum is running on. Is there a way to update the board so it matches my webhost?

Did you set up the usergroup permissions and forum permissions? This hack works for 3.7 and i'm just fixing some small bug.

If I didn't add a thumbnail for a certain site it means that the site makes it impossible to figure out what it would be unless they have changed how they do things.

Nix, all the video sites are shown as thumbnail but with YouTube, you can see the image of the video showing up. All others, the thumbnail only show the image "M". Hope you understand what I am trying to say.

After overrode the hack, I had to edit every single posts so that they wouldn't show media tag. Also, the highslide for image thumbnail is gone.

How do I remove the title hyperlink right underneath of the "M" image?

Also, when viewing the thumbnail image, the bottom show "Test Only"?

Firefox 2 on the mac has known flash bugs. Firefox 3 has fixed these and will be released in June. You can use a nightly build of it now to test. Yes I'm on a mac.


I want to thank everyone for helping me test 1.8. I'll have some more bug fixes out on Sunday or Monday.

If you have the problem where you just see media tags, instead of editing every thread, you can just empty your postphrased table in phpMyAdmin. I'll add something so it will easier in the future.

If you're having problems with attachments, make sure your attachment system is switched to the file system and you have whatever extension you're using to vbulletin. Attachments are working with 1.8.

log on your admincp, style manager, style name, edit template,:

For version 1.5, goldbrick templates should listed right under forumrules, gb_usercp_profile should listed at the very last.

For version 1.8, goldbrick templates all located in its own folder, still under forumrules, double click on Goldbrick Templates, and you'll see them all.

Did you add the mp3 extension to the allowed extension list to vbulletin? You also have to be using the flile system for vbulletin attachments. Make sure that path is also correct.

Show the download link is an old setting for the classic style. I'm still not sure what isn't working for you.

Your killing me dude. What does that have to do with what I am telling you. The setup is changing the bbcode call function from media to url. Of course I have everything setup right or I wouldn't have even brought it to your attention in the first place. I'm not going to waste your time bouncing useless information off of you when I didn't setup the mod right. I can change the BBCode Tag Name in the ACP setup to url and it works fine but I'm obviously not going to leave it that way.

I do have nCode image resizer installed and it may be bumping heads with it. I have no idea but it is a possiblity. I do know that I have given you what I thought was rather good descriptive feeback on the problem but I am starting to feel like I'm not doing so well at it now. :confused:

Tom, go to vbulletin options, then Goldbrick media options. Double check to see if where it says "Set the tag name for the BBcode." that is says "media" instead of "url".

You all really need to read what I wrote. I changed it to URL and it worked then because it was not working as it should. Do we understand that so far. It was not using the bbcode MEDIA..it was putting the bbcode URL there. The bbcode MEDIA was in the ACP where it should be. I changed it however to URL to see if it would show the youtube embed in a post and it did. However we all know that is the incorrect method. The correct method the mod uses is MEDIA as the bbcode and it is not using it. Do we follow me now? IT is not functioning by putting the word http://whatevertoyoutube.com/ickydoodle.movie that would be the raw code you would see if the video wasn't there. It isn't. It is using URL instead of MEDIA. Don't make me get my etch a sketch out and draw pictures! :p

The flashvar link is wrong. I have vbseo installed. Could this be the issue?

Did you add the mp3 extension to the allowed extension list to vbulletin? You also have to be using the flile system for vbulletin attachments. Make sure that path is also correct.

Any word yet on why the thumbnail won't show up for DivX videos? The thumbs show up just fine on all other videos, just not DivX

It was user posted content. After looking at the goldbrick_player tempalate though, I realized what was happening. I didn't quite understand how the thumbs were being added till now (still don't fully understand though). The user that was embedding DivX videos in her posts were embedding videos directly off of her server, which doesn't have any thumbnails associated with them.

So, my question is how do you need data sent to this plugin in order for thumbnails to work? She's totally cool with building whatever is needed to get her videos to display properly on my site, we just need to know how Goldbrick needs them to be sent:)

I had one other question though about the template. If I'm trying to troubleshoot what is going wrong with embedding in the forums threads/posts, why am I looking at a template that has the variable $info[profile] in it?

I'm not sure why you're getting so hostile. If there is a bug I'll fix it. I just need to know what the problem is. From reading your post, you've posted a link and when you hit reply it wraps it in url tags. If that is what is happing, goldbrick didn't do anything. Changing the acp setting to url doesn't do anything. That setting isn't live yet. If this isn't your problem I'm not sure what is.

The attachments are being stored at forum/attachments/. What would that line of code need to be to pull those attachments?

Yes, only YouTube is working properly. Veoh is also working. Google is working but if you have more than 1 video in the same post, when you submit the new thread, you'll get error in google.php file.
And this monster Dailymotion is never worked for me at all.

Everything is working beautifully on my forum. I only have one issue. When you click on "Profile Video" in the UserCP and it takes me to "Add a Profile Video" page at the I get the error message

I found another issue in addition to the above:
Using 3.7 Gold; Goldbrick 1.8 - profile video on in ACP.

When attempting to edit signature via profile page, this error occurs:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in [path]/goldbrick/plugins/profile_start.php on line 44

I looked at the Plugin Manager for this mod and found that the "Goldbrick: Editpost Update Process" is inactive. Would this have anything to do with the signature error?

The old highslide never worked on my forum (firefox bug).
This new version is simpler but at least works (whatever browser I tested). A few minor bugs to fix (admincp choices not taken into account). that's all.

When I have a few flv files in the same post, and I use the arrow to go diretly to next video I have a quick pink (fuschia) background color between each embeded video. I have been looking in all script to find out where it comes from without success. It sure doesn't come from my videos and I 'd like to change this as the color is quite strange...(just want to have white or black instead).

On a Mac using Firefox 2.0.0.14, videos do not work in that the screen darkens as usual, a white video streaming box opens up, but no video ever appears and streams. I can click on the close tag in the upper right.

Works fine on a Mac using Safari 3.1.1

As an incentive to get users to register, most images/videos will not render unless one registers, but the way this mod appears, unregistered members can view videos, which defeats the valuable registration incentive.

Can this be rectified?

edit- I see in the Admin control panel under user groups for unregistered users that I can toggle to "can't view images" to the off setting.

Hi everybody.
I installed this very nice hack and it works just smooth with YouTube and also pictures.
I downloaded this 1.5 Version and dont know where to get a 1.8V?

But it does not play ".AVI" neither ".MOV"(QuickTime) movies.

Since the other features works, I am sure all options are set and saved fine.
What can I do to fixx this issue? Possible to play direkt .AVI Links or not?

Have a permissions issue. I've set the permissions to not allow guests, not logged in and no unregistered people to see the videos. But it still shows them to all guests an what have you. I need this hack to work where it does not show at all in any way to outside people. This is crucial for me if this option does not work I cannot use this hack :( Here's what I have & what has been done.

1. Running php5
2. Using vb 3.7 stable release
3. I have installed the entire hack and all works except the permissions.
4. All the permissions for the groups that I do not want to see this video hack and the videos on the site have been set and they are correct, I rechecked to make sure.

ok im having some problems after the installation. when i create a new post and i got to post it i get these 2 errors below. The post does go true some how but i got a felling something is not right.

also the profile video is not working for me wont save .i get another error

Thanks nix, upgraded to 1.8 but still do not see anything in my profile showing the video I posted. Its not under "my media" tab either, which honestly I do not even remember if that tab is default vb or part of GB itself. However, its empty either way.

Anyone else having this problem too?
