View Full Version : Aligning with abolute position?

I have an image, where in order to make it so it overlaps, I used thisposition:absolute;
z-index:100. It appears at the top left of the table data it is in, however I need it to appear at the top right. "right: 0;" cannot be used as that would put it at the right side of the entire page. align="right" does not work, valign on the table data does not work, and align right on a div forces the image to appear outside of the table. Everything I could think of has not worked.

Full code (just for reference I'm not asking anyone to look at this):
<style type="text/css">
img.logo
{
position:absolute;
z-index:100
}
</style>

<center>
<table id="Table_01" width=99% height="187" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<tr>
<!-- Buttons -->
<td width="250">

</td>
<!-- Header (empty) -->
<td width="524" height="159">
<div>
<img class="logo" src="/styles/7M-v1/new/defleft.png" alt="">
</div>
<img src="/styles/7M-v1/new/emptyleft.png" />
</td>
<td height="159">
<img width="100%" height="159" src="/styles/7M-v1/new/emptymid.png" />
</td>
<td width="307" height="159">
<div>
<img class="logo" src="/styles/7M-v1/new/defright.png" alt="">
</div>
<img src="/styles/7M-v1/new/emptyright.png" />
</td>
</tr>
</table>

If it is too far right why don't you move it to the left?

eg:

position:absolute; right: 20px;

Set the containing table to position: relative; then the position: absolute; of the image contained within it will be relative the the containing table, and not the entire page. Then use the right: 0; on the image.

Centers a 600 pixel wide div on the page, and places an image to the right side of that div, using position:absolute, so it overlaps anything else.
<body>
<div style="width: 600px; margin: auto; postition: relative;">
<img src="xxx" alt="" style="position: absolute; right: 10px;" />
</div>
</body>

Thank you, that worked.
