Thanks for the bug reports everyone, I always feared it would have some. I've figured out the problem with the dot and firefox, it's because I'm missing a <ul> Avant shows it fine but that's down to it's IE core I guess.

The added slashes I'm still trying to identify the problem causing that, but hope to have that fixed soon too, once that's fixed I'll add an update.

Sadly videos cannot be uploaded via this mod, but YouTube are expanding the API to include upload features, so that will be added later.

WOL, Usergroup Permissions, and other general options will be added to the next full version.

You can fix this by removing the following from vBTube/includes/view.php:

Good Spot, although I actually handled the fix slightly differently it was using a Server Request URI to get the url but it really didn't need too as the $vidid info was also available. think I was getting sleepy when I did that bit *lol*

You do not add\edit\delete the videos they are drawn from YouTube through the search function.
You can edit the default search to show a specific genre of videos when the page is loaded by using the code above.

You uploaded the vBTube folder and the vBTube.php file to the forum root then import the product?
When I try to go to the url it appears either the folder is not there or the product was not there.
Unless your host does not recognize the php extension as a page meaning it is looking for index.htm or hmtl.

I uploaded the entire vbtube folder to /forums/

That creates a new thread in a forum of the admin's choice with the video title, and the video shown using custom bbcode this hack adds rather than using AME, Passive or any of the other video hacks, as we are just dealing with YouTube here so we don't need the processing of those hacks..

I love this mod nominated for MOTM

I stink at most things coding so I appreciate the level of support shown for this already. I'd also love to see the search function be able to parse by date added so that the newest videos come up first.

Also the download video link doesn't seem to be working, it tries to download a php file rather than a video file.

I know its way early in the release but something to keep in mind, YouTube allows you to pull the videos through their API and have them play in your own custom flv player thats branded to your site. Is something like this possible, or maybe sometime in the future?

I would ask your host to check the script and see if theres anything they are blocking which is stopping it from working for you.

The download video link, currently uses page scrapping and youtube keep changing the pages *lol* I'm looking at a better method of doing this for the next version.

Custom branded players are definetly an interesting idea, but I can only really add it to the "maybe" pile right now as theres a lot of other features I'd like to add first before that.

My fantastic hosting company told me that they can not go through your code line by line looking for whats being blocked.

Sorry Nickbe, looks like it definetly it something your host is blocking that is stopping the script from working.. I'm guessing it's the XML or PEAR that might be a problem.

Hosting wise I'm with http://www.clook.co.uk/ and have never had a problem, they have always been on hand whenever I have needed them.

I fixed the errors indicated above - they were not caused by this hack, but instead by an overriding php.ini file I had in my forum directory. Sorry for the bother.

One thing that I find to be very confusing is that when I view the vBTube.php file it indicates to indicate and imply that the uploaders of the videos are members of my forum, instead of youtube members, because when I look at the links under their names it says (for example):

http://mysite.com/forum/vBTube.php?do=user&uname=fred_flintstone

and I do not have a member by that name. When I click on their name it takes me to a page with all of the rest of their uploadeed videos, which is cool. but confusing as heck, beacuse it seems to imply that they are a member of my forum. I don't know what you can do to change that, but just wanted you to know that it confused a few of my members as well. Maybe something above their name that says "youtube member: fred_flintstone"

plus, if you do this, may I suggest making it so we can help contribute the xml to add new video sites to this add-on... so you aren't stuck continually adding new sites (which I guarantee you will get repeated requests for as there are like a millino video sites that people use and request).


3. of course, the next suggestion after that is to upload video directly. I know I know...but its such a natural next suggestion and would be a killer add-on. I know its been a requested add-on, and you have the baseline here. :D maybe cut out the middle man and work with other add-ons looking at the same thing? (ie: AME or vbAnyMedia add-ons).

as for #3... cool. but I was thinking more for uploading directly to the forums (ie: become our own video hosting site). that said, youtube direct upload is a great idea too (though I prefer megavideos or others as they have much bigger file size limits and don't delete material as much. again, see 2).

Don't know if this is a bug (probably my error) but when setting the default page to a category, the pagination is messed up a bit.
Instead of vBTube.php?do=cat&catid=2&page=2 it goes to vBTube.php?do=cat&page=2
Any idea how to sort that?

Right now the categories are hardcoded, but you can change them for custom searches by editing the vBTube template.. Change the do=cat&catid= to do=search&search=<search term>

wow, this looks very promising. i am going to test it out. one comment quick piece of feedback though: i think having the videos set to autoplay is critical from a usability perspective. i believe appending &autoplay=1 to the end of the youtube src in the within the embed tags sets the video to autoplay.

This doesn't use any additional sql tables, so that won't be the problem. Have you checked to make sure the product is still enabled?

You can set the default search by editing the php.
When the page is loaded if will display you default search genre.


in vBTube.php find:
Code:

}
and change to:

$search='<insert search term>';

Some shared hosts have strict rules and that was previously preventing the script from working, but glad it's been working flawlessly for you, that's just what I love to hear :)

1. The Videos on the first page, should be around 20 if your using featured or popular as the default page, if you've changed the default to a search or a category then it should show 12 videos a page.. Can you send me the url to your page so I can check it out?

2. I will check this, there are still some troubles with international languages.

3. I will be adding a "Favorites" feature to the next version, which will add a "My Favorites" link so you can quickly get to your faves, but will also have a "Everyones Favorites" which will show the favorites or all members (Admin will have the choice of whether the everyones favorites are anonymous or not ;)) So hopefully that should cover what you want.

I might also add a "We have watched" link which will show all the YouTube videos that have been viewed over the last 7 days.

I'm working on a "categories manager" with the YouTube cats as defaults, but you'll be able to change the category names, and swap the categories for custom searches which should make things much more useable for niche sites that just want a number of custom searches rather than YouTube categories.

I have the same problem, after instaled only a blank page.

I have a dedicated server but with the plesk "shared" system.

the problem was the open_basedir restriccions, i have edited the http.conf of the domain and disable it.

now is working fine...

My problem now is a have a spanish site and the vbtube "take" english contents from youtube.

Efc9 have said that in the future we have an admincp to elect the contents... in the near future ?

if not.. is posible to change the code to select the contents of the pages ?
