btw, if you mean the videoid, it's in the vBTube BBCode: at the bottom of the page, this hack adds a new BBCode so that if that code is posted in a thread, it'll show an embedded video.

Have you tried upgrading to v1.2.5? This version has ut8_decode on descriptions and titles so should display the titles correctly as long as you have the windows language packs installed.

Place this in your navbar template where you would like the image to show up:

Maybe I missed something in the thread. Upgraded to the latest and noticed that download no longer works. It get a Googl Error page that says

Bad Request
Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request.

I checked a few of the example sites and all them have the same error when I tried to download on them.

- the php looks to have changed. ie: the instructions how to change the default search and categories doesn't work anymore. Anyone know how to do it with latest version?

- the new "vBTube BBCode" and embed is nice and convenient, but when embedding... some kinda of linkback or infomation leading back to teh site should be included (either above or below the video). It jsut posts the youtube vid--which is fine--but doesn't help with self-branding or promoting our own forum's vbtube.

so something simple like a link below the vid once its embedded: eg:

"See more videos at www. yoursite .com"

Once comments kick that will really make the stickiness of this add-on pervasive. And if uploading (even if to youtube in the background) ever makes a version in the future... the circle of life will be complete. lol. Its like our own video hosting site....without worrying abut the serverload. :woot:

Looking at this code you have a customized style, the code should probably be placed in the header template instead.well, if you look at the vBTube navbar link they provided you will see that they added a menu_control in the middle of the quick links area, where it should have been a menu_option - I posted the correction above:

Usergroup permissions will be a part of the next version, for now you can edit the vBTube.php file and add:

Replace the X,Y,Z with the usergroupids you don't wish to have access.

Those sites probably use a script called Clipshare, which does not have an API, so this script cannot be adapted for them.

YouTube does not allow sex videos, You'd need Pornotube or one of the other X-Rated Sites for that.

Getting it to work on video.mysite.com would involve multiple edits to the files and templates and changes to the cookies and such.

I do have a question.. A significant amount of sites already have a youtube bbcode such as (youtube) (/youtube).. How would I go about editing your code so that bbcode is reflected in the Extra Options > vBTube BB Code: field when viewing videos? We already use [youtube] tags all over our site!

One more recommendation.. I noticed that you use class="styled" in several of your input field tags.. Would you consider changing that to "bginput" so that if you have a custom style/skin that it reflects the custom values? I have various dark skins that show white fields until I edit your templates manually to change it to "bginput"

Thanks for the compliments and comments.. To change the embed code you'll need to edit the vBTube/includes/view.php file, change the vBTube to youtube in that, and remove the vBTube bbcode from your board.

Where can I "clean the slate" of what it showing and then only re-populate the display with videos that are just selectively chosen as relevant our membership?

You probably have a customized style.. pm me your header & navbar templates and I'll work out what you need to edit.

Make sure you've downloaded the latest version, the plugin was for WOL and is no longer needed.

I see in the XML where I can change or delete categories, but I'm not sure of the code that would let me present custom categories as the result of a search.

Also, when I click on the "Download" button, I get this?

That info is a little out of date, search for today rather than featured. but if you make that change it should do what you want, sorry for missing this query before.. Would be nice if vb.org could offer a bug & query tracker on every release so it's easier to find the bugs & questions for hack others.

so why was vbtube graveyarded? One thing I think you should add to each of the directories within the vbtube dir is a blank index.html or index.php file to prevent access.

You must have modified the vBTube_view template which would stop it being updated with this update.. A hack update won't overwrite a user modified template, so to get the new one, you need to "revert" the template (I know it sounds a bit backwards, but that's the way vBulletin works)

If you were doing a clean install the download code is no longer in the template.

But I Want To Teach You A Lil Trick I Do All The Time

And This Should ot Be Takeing As A Insult Or AnyThing Like That

Then Just Press Search Again Just To Make Sure There Is No Other Code Like That In The Template, .php File, Or What Ever.

Chances Are The Part That You Find Is Part Of What You Are Looking For.

What I Would Do Is Compleatly Copy Everything In That template, .php File, Or What Ever. And Copy It Into A Text Document So You Dont Mess Things Up. (aka Ghetto Back Up lol)

Then Just Mod What Ever Part Looks Closest To What You Were Looking For In The First Place. Chances Are What You Find Is What You Are Looking For.

I think that if that was the case that you would hear from vb.org, since they have policies and scripts installed just to deal with that type of thing, as seen earlier with this mod. I have a feeling that it may have been removed by the coder for one reason or another - we will just have to wait for him to come back and either repost it or perhaps he will possibly abandon it altogether - I have seen it happen many times before. Just keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

As his last posts in this thread the author seemed positive and suggesting an upgrade to it on the 5th of November and he released a new mod that someone gave a single star to. I suppose my thinking is along the line of that upset the guy and maybe something said to him about it caused him to remove both mods.

Shame really as this one was just taking off well.

Yeah - very disappointed in getting the "exploit" email - Astonished really - but I hope whatever +++++++ caused the bitterness - doesn't succeed in keeping the modification in the graveyard - That would be horribly bad as I think this vBTube hack is AWESOMENESS personified.

I look forward to the updated version EFC9 and hope that some sort of positive resolution comes of this drama.

I'm no php expert, but I've been an active vBulletin license owner for a while.
That was some clean code, and the author resolved the vulnerability issue pronto.

The exploit was fixed in 1.2.6 so if you updated to that you are fine. If you are using 1.2.5 the exploit remains.

EDIT - Looks like efc9 has posted this mod over on vbhackers.com, so go there to get an updated version. Looks like he'll be continuing development over there.

I'm not sure if this is allowed, so I'll post this and if either efc9 or the moderator tells me that it's not appropriate, then I'll remove this post, but I have the 1.2.6 version (the version with the exploit fix) and I'll email it to anyone who needs it, just PM me. Whew, good thing I upgraded when he updated it this morning. I hope whatever the issues are they get resolved and we see efc9 back soon.
