Im trying to mod my forumdisplay and it may involve ruining SEO on that page. I dont want to go into the details of ways i could get around it, but id like to know from an SEO point of view would this cause problems, do bots index this page much or is it mainly the actual threads. Do the bots go straight to the threads, or do they navigate though the front page, forumdisplay to get to the threads like just humans do?

Bots look at content, then follow any links on the page (except those with "nofollow").

I wouldn't add anything that would hinder my SEO on Any page ;)

Would it be against google TOS to display text links only to google bots so they can navigate?

As long as it is accessible by a normal user, it's ok.

Well, the links wouldnt be shown to a normal user.
The users would naviagate via flash and the bots would have text links displayed as well so they can still navigate.

If a Guest can see these links, then you should be fine.
If you're showing something to google and Not to guest, then it's cloaking and you can get blacklisted..
