Resize Images

How can i resize images other than using Photoshop?
For example i'm building a website for a friend and he has given me a lot of 800*600 pics, but of course i cant display them like that.
Is there a script or something i can use dinamically?

if you are referring to desktop applications .. you can use Fireworks (batch process)

If there are not a lot I would just do it manually with PSP, Adobe AI, or Photoshop. I usually can do 10 a minute...
