I tried to verify my license too but it directed me to vb germany where it keeps telling me that I have to visit www.vbulletin.com

You do that in your customer account on vb.com. Just tick the box for vBG.org, too (same as you did for vb.org), and you need to use same e-mail you use for your customer account.

What does it solve? I have the TMS working fine with my default style, but I get database errors when its trying to update the Mobile style.

Is it safe to use this plugin on a commercial website or will it keep breaking (and get fixed after a few weeks) everytime a new VB version is released?

It is safe to use, and it has not been known to break with every version. Just look at the version history - it covers all versions there ever were (not only vB4!). The vB3 version worked quite well with vB4, too - the only real issue was a bug in vB, not this addon.

It broke at this point because the mobil style was made a second master style. There has never been a second master style before, and it is quite natural and expectable that this addon will have to be adapted.

I'm using it with 4.1.12 (just upgraded). It works fine.

Only problem is that it doesn't recognizes mobile styles (now (with vB4.1.12) skin can be standard or mobile), but if code is found inside mobile style, it gets replaced. Recognizing doesn't work in part where we can specify code changes per style. So we can work a bit blindly, but changes can be made and changes work even in mobile styles.

That's not a TMS issue - you'd get the same error when putting that code directly into the template.

Try wrapping the code in <vb:literal></vb:literal>-Tags. The curly brackets are reserved characters, they're used in vB Template scripting.

After upgrading to 4.2, some of my styles are messed up. Images aren't loading, features missing. As soon as I disable TMS, things work perfectly. Since you said it's working, I can only guess that I have some PHP setting that's preventing it from working properly on my forum. Any ideas what it could be?

Going back over the thread, I made sure that gzip is only enabled once and I disabled output_buffering. Neither seemed to help.

It's very likely that your problem is not TMS, but the template changes themselves. You do realize that 4.2 has a completely new Nav Manager? All/most old changes you did to the navbar (probably via TMS) are deprecated and bound to break things.

As a general rule: TMS does not break the front end style, but the style changes you do via TMS might very well.

I guess I can try disabling them one by one. However, I have thought that either the TMS pattern matching would either work, or not work. But I guess I can see how the pattern might still match, but the template is different.

edit: As expected, I was doing something wrong. After the upgrade, I forgot to refresh the CSS Sprites. It masqueraded as a TMS problem because the template edits of the (missing) images disappeared when I turned off TMS.

this error is to do with your MYSQL version, as the scripting is slightly different
which you will need to manually change yourself to suite your MYSQL version

It's not this addon's fault if you can't read and or can't search. Neither makes it the "baddest mod".

Either you could simply have read this in the first post, or in a plethora of posts in this thread:
vBulletin 4.1.11 or higher is currently not fully supported by TMS. If you use this version please apply the following patch: Attachment 136973

Alternately, a simple search for your error would have led you to the same result.

I'm not sure, but possibly there is a solution by removing the files you uploaded and disable all products (mods) from the config.php by adding the following code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Add this to your config.php and then save it.... you can find this file in your forum root through your FTP.

Then run your vb after saving your work and login to admin cp and remove the product from there and at the end enable your products again after the fix is made...

It won't. Look at the number of installations and at the rating. That's not by chance. You can mess up your site using this tool, just as you can do so by using the template editor. But that's your fault then :D

The '1 Out-of-Date Template Modifications found' message can safely be ignore - it's just a little bug.
To fix it: Delete the plugin 'Veraltete Template-modifikationen suchen' on Hook admin_index_main1.
Afterwards, import the attached plugin XML.
That should fix it.

I see this was recommended a long time ago. Is this still the recommended method for more recent versions of VB or are they actually out of date. If they are out of date, how would one know what to edit specifically in the list to bring them up to date?

This plugin is by far the best hack for vBulletin out there. This product makes custom modifications to templates extremely easy without actually modifying the actual templates. You can quickly disable the modifications when there is an issue. Most importantly, when updating the vBulletin updates, it is quick and painless. Then you can run the test to see if anything is broke and you can quickly fix. If there was a star system of 1 to 5. I would rate this as a 10.

So far... I'm sure there's some hidden surprises. However I can now save templates again, and they work. I was able to edit for the changes on 4.2.2 and get all my stuff working again. Not too shabby overall.

Okay, update. While this works to make template changes in 4.2.2, if you do what I listed above, you will need to disable it if you make a new style or if you load a new style, then afterward resave each edit in the Master. It's a pain, but it worked that way but I could not create a style or upload a style without disabling TMS.

Maybe, if I have the time, I'll dig into this mod and see if I can update it, but Andreas was one of the best and it is likely he'd be necessary to fix this thing for 4.2.2. You can have it working in a way, but it isn't perfect.

I am running TMS since a few years and hadn?t touched it in the last year. End of february I?ve tried to do a little template change and noticed the same day here on vb.org, that TMS has an update and a patch available, so I?ve installed them first.

Since this moment TMS wasn?t working proper anymore, means: I couldn?t do new changes. Even though the changes I?ve made before the update seemd to work as before.

Today I had to learn it the hard way, to never change a running system: I had a look at my AdSense-Account and I was shocked about the loss of clicks and revenue. Costs for site and server are barely covered by the revenue and the loss of 70% clicks was some kind of wake-up call.

It took a while to notice, that 2 custom ad-placements I have created years ago were gone. They are still in the TMS and TMS tells me, they are working - but they don?t. The error message is saying:
A curly bracket wasn?t closed. Do you have inserted a curly bracket without content between ( {} )? If so, enclose the complete code with <vb:literal>Your code</vb:literal>.Has anyone an idea, what I can do now?

I?m now in a situation, that I can?t do changes to the showthread template. Wether through TMS nor through direct template edits. It always displays this error message as shown above. Even when trying to save the original non-altered showthread template.

It?s now in the graveyard for a good reason (the idea sounds promising though, but the code has to be rewritten). For the other 3 who have that addon installed - after you have uninstalled this addon you HAVE TO revert your SHOWTHREAD template or you will have the risk of code fragments still sitting in the SHOWTHREAD template. The uninstall routine hadn?t worked properly in my installation and left changes in the template that caused that error. May be one of the mods could attach this info to the Addon in the graveyard.

I'm glad revering the template helped you but I don't think the problem came from the Panda mod.

This worked better than my cutthroat method/quick fix. Some day I'll have time to dig into this. I just don't know when someday is on the calendar.

It should have been bought by vB and implemented by default.

Overwriting the registry is a really, really, really bad idea and could cause dangerous things.
I can't stress enough how much I'd recommend not to do that.

Besides that, TMS with patch as given in the first post works just fine on 4.2.3 (which is pretty amazing as the code is almost 5 years old), but could use some love to get up-to-date with current PHP versions.
