I don't mean to bash here but i cant believe that you would UNinstall a script because you didn't read the post fully or were too goofy to understand that they are NOT charging for the script. The level of support i've gotten from these guys rival any major mod i've bought for vbulletin and let me tell you, the others weren't free like these are. Again for a second time, they are promoting Premium Membership, simple as that. As a benefit of that membership you would get access to the beta versions of those mods as well as other perks of being a Premium Member! If you dont want to pay for a premiun membership, then by all means wait a little while for it to be released free like they said they would.

We felt that releasing what we had done so far as beta to premium members would help us with a controled beta test. And when we release it to 200K members here, we want to make sure its a good stable product, as professional made as possible, and doesn't waste our time or yours working out issues with bugs that should of been fixed before release anyway.

Please note the techically the beta is ment for localhost testing and not a production enviroment.

Although I think some of those testing are doing that anyway, they can tell you how stable the beta is them selves. and or what they think of it so far.

Part of this process also gives dark time to make sure all the addons and converters we have are also stable with vbcredits v1.4, aka IBP Arcade, Living avatars, v3arcade, vBookie and other addons, including vbcredit$, Hide Hack, and more.. these all need to be tested and worked out so that when we release the FREE full version of vBCredits v1.4 to you guys that everything is working.

Seems the way we have choosen to do this makes the best sense and gives you guys the best possible product for your forums/communities, period!

We're sorry for those that don't read what we've said above and or uninstall, your missing out on some cool stuff that we'll be working on after this release.

Anyway guys, thanks supporting our scripts, dark and I both doing our best to get both support and stuff out in a timely mannor :D

this version is if you just can't wait and want to see whats in it, however not all systems are finished yet for it.

1.4 (final stable)
we'll have upgrades for both 1.4beta and 1.3, so its your call if you want to wait. 1.4b is running on our site, so you can test it there if you want. Not all our pro/free addons are updated yet for 1.4b so again its you call.

I wanted to report a minor bug/issue, in vBCredits 1.3. In credits.php, you have this:

This is not good if you have user names that use special characters like underscore, unless you escape them. It is better to simply do something like:


$vbulletin->GPC['recipient'] = trim($vbulletin->GPC['recipient']);

Otherwise, money sent to a user called the_magic could go to a user called The Magic, or something like that.

there is now a new option in 1.4 which allows you to toggle whether to display Checking (on-hand), Savings (bank), or Combined (both). keep in mind it will still only display one number per thing, because thats what i want :-p (just does one, the other, or added together now)

Does the manage credits link NOT display at the bottom of the usercp? Do the following:
Edit the template USERCP_SHELL, and add this at the end of the link cells: $template_hook[usercp_navbar_bottom]

I have to do this, but where are the link cells? what do i need to find :/

vbcredits 1.4 is almost done... it has been discovered that the earliest version of vbulletin required for vbcredits 1.4 will be 3.6.6, however it may be moved up even more as i check through all of the required components - so take this time to upgrade your vbulletin if at all possible :) i *may* eventually provide instructions for earlier versions of vbulletin, but it is *very* low priority

im also removing template hook support due to it being one of the main sources of problems... :-/ sucks though, its such a nice idea. its okay, the instructions have details on inserting the right code. tms support remains, but now easier for you to edit how everything looks

SPeed issue was a DOS Attack on our ftp, IP's have been delt with .. I'll be changing how the software loads on our server, so its specific to 1 account vs open ended ips. Should fix the speed issues massively.

I have two large companion addons in the works, both kind of encompassing what vbplaza did/does, except a lot more expanded.

vBCommerce - all purpose itemshop. You can sell anything - postbit icons, subscriptions, game server items, even stuff you will eventually mail them (of course you have to do the mailing :-p) compared with the paypal addon... well you get it
vBCustomizer - users can buy customizations to everything. colorize, bold, etc etc their usernames and titles, or for other people.

Until the main two are done, vbcredits is compatible with a wide range of third party hacks, and I also put together addons as per request (getting back to that list now that 1.4 is finished with the heavy coding) :-p

I want to start off by saying I think this Product is great! I like the concept and plan on using it on my forum.

My question is, is there a way to limit the product to certain usergroups only? I want to beta test it with my VIP members before I release it to the public.

if you are using 1.4, have a negation multiplier set, and an activity award - then they will lose credits when they arent active. :) if you think your settings are good and its doing weird stuff, let me know and ill look it over for you

Just a couple of quick questions for you.

I had to do some template edits that weren't necessarily ones that everyone had to do with 1.3. Mostly just putting in hard code where everyone else had to put phrases. Don't know why, just my forum wouldn't accept some of the phrases. Will I need to redo those template edits (change them back to phrases) for the upgrade to work with no problems?

Other question was I can't seem to remember which points hack we had installed before. I believe it said uTT Store Hack. Since we've moved servers and upgraded the software, I think we may have lost all our points data, but I'm not sure. Is one of the conversion you have listed the same as the uTT Store Hack, or is that something completely different?

Well to answer all of your questions: I'm not sure :-p

Everything has been switched out from 1.3 to use template edits instead of relying on hooks and such. It is slightly more of a pain, but will solve the biggest support issue ive had to deal with, including sites still using older vb versions. I am happy to help you revert the things youve done to get it to work since the new method will almost suredly work right away for you :-p

I can take a look at your forum and figure out if you have any points hack still installed, and maybe make a converter out of it :-p The closest I can think of it ucash/ushop, but i dont think its the same. Either way, just come talk to me privately with an admin login.

Have just tried installing version 1.3. Turned off my board, uploaded the files, manually did all the template changes and then turned on my board again.

The result:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: credits() in /home/anime10/public_html/global.php(554) : eval()'d code on line 91

Hence, the plugin is currently disabled.

Does anyone know why this error occurred?

No - vbcredits ignores the secondary usergroups completely.

reasoning behind this is oftentimes credits are applied to multiple people at once using single queries so that vbcredits can run optimally on forums of all sizes. This may change in the future, and if/when it does ill let you know.

Run the mass credit updater to retroactively award existing users the amounts they should have had as if the hack was installed since the beginning. For v1.3, at the bottom of the update counters. For v1.4, it has its own acp menu link.

vBCredits is mainly a system for earning points, not spending them. While you CAN set negative amounts for all of the credit awards, it will never prevent the action for lack of funds, merely go negative. Attachment download support is in development by me, HOWEVER i had still not decided its fate - whether to be part of a paid attachment limiting system i am making, or free addon, included in vBCustomizer, etc. I will know better once its completely done so I can assess the work - to - benefit ratio :-p

1.4 is about 98% finalized, fixing up last few bugs and writing up admin help basically. also setting up vbcredits.com to be better organized. im writing up a vbcredits usage faq which you can read there to learn more about how vbcredits 1.4 works. im also setting up an admin demo :D more details when 1.4 final is released.

if you are using 1.3, you have to set a negative amount for the deleted thread credit
if you are using 1.4, you have to have a negation multiplier like -1, and they will lose the thread credits they earned.

vBulletin has their own referral code as far as i am aware.

Where X is the referrers userid. Basically your members can post links like this for other people to join and automatically have themselves as the referrer. new users can still remove the name, but the link automatically fills it in.

WHATEVER way that a new user joins and indicates their refererrer (by link, typing it in, etc) then the referrer will get credits. you can also verify new referrals by waiting until they are a certain number of days registered, or reach a certain postcount and/or reputation, before they get the credits for the referral

For the casino there is a option in the admincp to set the cashtype, lets you use it with most cash systems. For this one just change it to "credits" and you should be set.

vBulletin has their own referral code as far as i am aware.

Where X is the referrers userid. Basically your members can post links like this for other people to join and automatically have themselves as the referrer. new users can still remove the name, but the link automatically fills it in.

WHATEVER way that a new user joins and indicates their refererrer (by link, typing it in, etc) then the referrer will get credits. you can also verify new referrals by waiting until they are a certain number of days registered, or reach a certain postcount and/or reputation, before they get the credits for the referral

well, that is a lot of members, but still, it shouldn't take THAT long.. something is slowing the system down. Its working however... as along as it continues to work, I would just let it do its thing... if it hangs, then its an issue.

yes it will. the mass credit updater can be used to set everyone to 0 quickly. if you are using 1.4rc1 you can also use the award users by criteria even faster (especially if you have tens of thousands of users :-p)

yes it works with ishop and others. also theres plenty of third party hacks you can use vbcredits with, either with addons ive posted or through configuration options built into many hacks. im still waiting to complete the last bug from 1.4 final, and when thats out of the way vBCommerce will be making a rapid entrance into existence :-p as always, keep an eye on vbcredits.com for development news

1.4 introduces the ability to hide credit amounts for certain usergroups or within certain forums. can also lock usergroups from vbcredits entirely.

in 1.3 youll have to wrap the field with like <if condition="is_member_of($vbulletin->userinfo, X)"> where X is the usergroupid

you will not lose any settings or amounts when you upgrade.

in 1.3 youll have to edit plugins and it gets complicated, so first decide if you will upgrade instead (will be a lot easier for you :-p)

the reason i havent released vbcommerce while waiting for 1.4 final is because i intend vbcommerce to be able to sell REAL things for credits. and if there exist bugs which either gain or lose credits erroneously (or due to exploits) how many people would want to kill me? :-p

I have this installed, I also used my own admin referal ID, to signup for another account, and it appeared to give me credit, if i can do this, I can only see others doing this in order to gain referal advantage. It would be nice if it had a built in ban system, that ban users that try and signup for duplicate accounts using the referal system by using cookies. although, I do not know what you have that would detour cheaters...

built in ban system to detect multiple accounts? sounds like you need another hack. im pretty sure they already exist.

i make no secrets about the potential exploits of all credit awards - look at the admin help for more details. the bottom line is that you will always need a minimum amount of moderation to ensure nobody is cheating. now, these arent programming exploits, but theres only so much i can do to validate each action short of making you, the admin, having to greenlight each transaction.

but at that point, why would you be using a hack to award points? just use a profile field :-p

ive given advice on what to look for and how best to police the more exploitable actions (such as multiple accounts, spamming)

I tried out the new savings system, i think something messed up. i made two deposits on the 23rd. one in the amount of 4401, the other was something like 4500. they're both listed as previous deposits, but the balance only reflects one of them. neither of them are listed as pending.

I confirmed that he indeed 'lost' the money. What can I/we do?

yes there is a bug in 1.4rc1 concerning multiple loans and savings. its fixed in final. for now you can disable savings and loans or advice/limit only 1 at a time.

never downgrade, will cause more problems for you when you reupgrade (or upgrade to something higher in the future).
instead come talk to me and ill help fix it. 9 times out of 10 it was caused by settings you didnt realize were keeping things hidden. theres many settings which you are instructed to look over, and i can bet that you accidentally had admin usergroup locked when you upgraded, and now youve made it harder on yourself and youll definately require my assistance to upgrade properly again. i have a support ticket tracker on vbcredits.com for precisely these kinds of things (so we can keep track of what gets completed and only relevent posts etc)

you can set maximum savings to 0 and it will hold their savings safe.

i have the fix for multiple deposits if youd like it early (its included in 1.4 final of course) but youll have to PM me an email address to send to. (copy/pasting off posts never works out)

as for loans - set them to max 1 (or 0) if you havent already. this is also included in 1.4 final, but is too extensive to send you a fix for.

the reason for this bug is actually due to a mysql limitation :( which prevents me from accurately using a cron.. until 1.4 final is out the deposit fix will at least prevent losing credits.

And I'm particularly cautious when I make template edits. Each and every problem I encountered was because I overlooked something very small. It's a great mod, but very sensitive to proper setup. It's, unfortunately, the nature of a good points system. It needs to be precise and particular to function properly.

well, I outlined it on this post to erase all doubt :-p and ever since ditching template hook support, stuff shows up for people 100% of the time (except when settings are not followed or *sigh* when people just didnt do them)

I keep getting an error after installing this mod:


CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

So I have to disable it.
I enabled it again just now to catch what that error was exactly and it WORKED! But then it flashed off to that CGU error again with out me refreshing the page at all.
