Don't worry. Since I found it was just undoing edits and adding some more style ones, I just re uploaded back up files from the original vBulletin download, re-uploaded the files for this mod again and was all fine. But thanks for answering.

we're glad you guys like our little mod :D, arcade intergration and other mods are coming down the pipe pretty quick, we've posted a number of polls on our site to get member feedback on what they feel is most important now that v1.3 is out here :D

I run a number of gaming servers; and so for those of you that do the same thing, I'll be working with dark on adding a lot of features to vBCommerce that will make sites that do the same purr. As well as adding systems for those that run business/other related products :D

However we need your feedback onsite as well so we can make it the best script possible for you guys. I'm going to leave support questions to dark at the moment so I can focus on the design site of our scripts. Please give Dark coding time and sleeping time between releases. ;)

What is TMS?

TMS is a template modification system recently released again for vb3.6
Basically, the product file will make modfications of your templates automatically (otherwise youll have to do them manually like normal)

You can easily retrospectively generate a credit score. Just install this, then go Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Appropriate Credits

You can then update credits for specific usergroups based on various factors.

There is a form at the bottom of update counter page, use this to apply credits retroactively. Attachment uploading will most likely be implemented.

Edit the usergroup settings for the usergroup in question, and set everything to 0. You can also disable specific people in the user edito, and the entire hack in the global settings. To disable showing of usergroups in the top richest credit holders, the option is in the usergroup editor.

everything is installed, but when i go to allow quizes that are submitted, my admin keeps asking me to log in over and over again! I thought this was fixed, and also when making changes to the admin_quiz.php there are two instances of the same code when searching.

As I stated earlier, the number of tabs is important in which block to use. Revert your quiz files and search again, this time paying attention to tabs. There should be only one block for each thing. You probably get logged out because you replaced it twice. If after you fix that and it still doesnt work, we will go from there :)

Okay, when you are finding and replacing code from quiz.php and admin_quiz.php, also search for the number of tabs in the code block. If you searched for just the text it would appear twice, but checking the number of tabs (tab keypress, aka indents) makes it appear only once - which is the right one to replace.

I guess I will redo the instructions to identify a different block of code. Sucks I cant use plugins because there are no hooks at all in those files.

It is not required to use vbcredits, just saves you the steps of doing template modifications if you have it installed. Otherwise the template mod instructions are included.

vBCredits is 100% free, vbCredits$ note the $, is a small paid addon, which we are handling on our site once that script is completed.

But what you are now loving and using will always be a free addon, just like vbadvanced has cmps for the masses.

We have other scripts in development that have both Lite and pro releases. To keep things ok with terms of this site, we're only releasing our Lite scripts here, we are making as lite scripts as feature packed as we possibly can for you guys

Yeah....it was counting chars but forgot to insert multiply against the postsize credit :D so instead of + .1 * 30, it was just + 30....heh >.<

Also, that form is the Mass Credit Updater
To find it, in the ACP go to the Update Counters link under the Maintenance Tab, usually at the bottom of the navigation panel. Then scroll down through the various tools to usually the bottom, and theres the form. If you need help with the options, consult the admin help links posted next to each item.

You can override any forum type credit award in the forum editor. You cant miss it. This might need some bugtesting for missing variables too due to some scope issues, but we shall see :D I dont have a massive testing forum yet where this kind of thing would be readily visible. Alternatively, if you already list the forum to not count posts, you can set it to not count credits there either with a global setting.

yes i checked it and it wasnt there, so i added per the instructions, but it still doesnt show. It actually doesnt matter really now that i notice that the navbar links to the same location, most of my members will probabaly use that.

Also, another error has been found, although it ONLY affects you if you have fresh installed 1.3. If so, please upload the new credits_time.php file in the package to your forum/includes/cron folder. There is a small error with Scheduled tasks :-p again, only affects fresh installs, NOT upgraders.

Just follow the instructions in the zip and you should be good to go, as for IBPro, its on the roster for version 1.4 if all goes well. Darks been pulling 72 hours awake, me, I lost count... I'm sure he's still coding in his mind even if his eyelids are closed.....

Did you read up in previous posts to see if you missed anything with the quiz hack, as far as I know its working, from darks localhost tests with 1.3, however I don't personally use the hack my self so haven't tested it on vbcredits.com yet ;) You can always PM Dark here or on our site and see if you can work out solution to your issue. Other than than thanks about hack...

Our next planed updates include vBCommerce (Shop Addon) We're hoping time time this week, pending our day job work/time, and vBCredits$ Addon, which you'll be able to turn credits into real cash >;) more info on site later about that :D

I have disabled credits for Reigstered Members. But I want to not display them. For example when a registered members posts, I will see: "Credits: 0". The problem is that I do not want to display that credits text IF it is 0. Why to display if it's 0 ? How would I make it like that?

Do u also plan to write a Bank System? Wich is little bit better than the ibank. Nice to have would be the possibility do define a User as Bank User, where the interessting rate is taken from.

If you want to disable showing credits for users who has 0 credits, do it this way.

Go to Manage Plugins and edit Display Credits In Postbit:

You can set usergroups to 0 values to disable them from getting credits. Check out the usergroup editor. No switch yet for display of those users... guess I could try to work it in.

Upgraded but still getting an error in Scheduled Tasks

Did you reupload the credits_tim.php file from the second update I sent? (Third "release" of 1.3)? That corrects fresh installs for scheduled tasks. When you reupload, you might want to perform the task via the ACP scheduled task manager to makeup for the one you missed.

I currently use iCash points system, which seems to have fallen to the hack graveyard. Is the conversion of credits from iCash to VBCredits easy? also is the vbookie plugin working? and ALSO! can this hack be used with IBPro Arcade? :D

It's very easy, just install the converter, then uninstall the converter and Icash (the converter was made into product form for ease of use, and once its "installed" (finished converting) it doesnt do anything from then on so best to delete it.

vBookie plugin is working. Check the extras/addons folder from the download.

can any one help me out, the credits system installed perfect, and great work in its production. But i can not get the quiz to work, even the mod on its own. It keep asking for my admin password. I even done it on my test forum, and same thing. Is this a regular problem for the quiz installs on the 3.6.7 version?

If the quiz isnt working even when you havent hacked it for use with vbcredits, you should probably ask the quiz author.

Unfortunately the plugin takes care of trimming decimals :( This raw mode bypasses the checks. I could make something unique for you, but I would want to apply it directly to your board. 1.4 will have a template for postbits to help fix this.

Yes it does, set the usergroup to allow post award system, and that usergroup will see a little coin icon on postbits to open up a little ajax award menu. also works on profiles for those groups

It runs the Scheduled Task for the Credit System :)

credits_time.php is the scheduled task for vbcredits, runs every midnight. basically:

gives birthday credits to those whose birthday it is

checks if there are any new referrals to validate. if they check out, they get added to the refferer (vbulletin actually doesnt save this so my hack has to), then applies the referral award and referee incentive (kind of a thanks for including your referrer, which sometimes they dont)

applies time and activity credits, if its been the number of days you specified (normally 1 for daily, but could be like 7 for 'paychecks' seen in other hacks, or whatever days you want :-p)

Also, all credits applied naturally respect the on/off settings of the recipients as well as their additive referral bonuses, although the new values dont take effect until AFTER this script runs, not during it.

So, a pretty essential file. A bunch of other points hacks dont use crons because they are tricky to do without bogging down someone with a thousand queries, so requires some slightly more advanced sql knowledge. These hacks then require session type systems with more data, which gets more complicated and buggy and so on :-p

After installing vbcredits, import the credits_icash product in the extras/convert folder in the download. after import, delete both the importer and icash. please note that if you changed the money row in icash you should run the converter for THAT, not icash. if its not something thats in the convert folder, let me know what it is so I can go make a converter for it.

Any particular page you are looking at? Unless you are doing mass moderation (like deleting many threads and posts at once) there should only be 1 extra query on everything. Even that I'm trying to get around without file edits.

I am having a hard time making certain forums *not* impact the credits at all. Someone, for example, deleted a ton of posts in an area designated with all 0's (default turned off), and was reduced from 230 to -20 credits.

Well mass-moderation stuff like that is generally a little server intensive, why do you think update counters has you set limits on users to process per run? Because its like 5 queries per person :-p Same thing here. I tried to keep it as small as possible whenever that happens.

The main problem this time was I did not think a certain function was called on every single post, which means a query I stuck in there was. I moved it out of that function and it works the same without that extra query every time.

Also, credits can go negative because it was the only way it can function as correctly as possible. By its very nature pretty much everything can be exploited. What if you made long posts for post size credits, bought something with them, and then trimmed your post to normal? It needs to go negative so at least they will pay back what they technically stole. Plus theres settable amounts for having a post deleted, so you could in fact punish users for writing something that got deleted, so making them work it back is kind of ideal.

1) I will see about adding it, theres already a list for 1.4 features that will be posted on my site later.
2) Yes, using negatives will reduce counts in every award type in the ACP. On the frontend you can only use positives (except for the post award system, but you still have to select Remove and enter a positive number)
3) Should only be happening if you put 0 or below for anything. Will check the variables for 1.4, otherwise, see number 2 :-p

The best solution for this (which I did on vbplaza) was turn off any payment for posting. Period.

Instead I gave credits for replies and views in people threads. This encourages people to post Threads that will be of interest, since they get paid everytime it is viewed or replied to.

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager

In the right hand pane select the down arrow in between "All Style Options" and the "Go" button and select Edit Templates

In the resulting window scroll down using the vertical scroll bar until you see PostBit Templates. Double click Postbit templates to expand it and scroll down until you see postbit or postbit_legacy ( if you use the old style panel on the left hand side of every post )

Double click on postbit or postbit_legacy

An edit window will appear.

In the "Find" box at the bottom of the editing window paste this and click find:

<div>$post[icqicon] $post[aimicon] $post[msnicon] $post[yahooicon]

This will highlight that line. Create a blank line above this by going to the left hand side of the line highlighted and press enter. Click in this new blank line and enter :

The mass update isn't working for me. Everything seems to be installed ok but when I update the counters, the credits people get don't reflect what I think they should get.

For example, I have set 1 credit per post plus 0.01 per word - and one guy who's made 501 posts has been given 61.6 credits. :/

I know exactly what the problem is. I see you edited it to show a dollar sign. You most likely forgot to add it TWICE to the plugin. You see, there was a bug in the template hook in vb3.6.7 (which is hopefully fixed now in 3.6.8), and that plugin was trying to compensate for it. vbcredits 1.4 should now be able to take out the compensation code :) But until then -- there are two lines that look pretty much the same, if you updated one bit of html, update the second bit as well so they have the same matching HTML (not the variables). This should fix the doubling.

What about on a fresh install of the Arcade?

Another possibility is to ask Mr. ZeroPage (a great guy and very supportive I might add) if could release "replacement files" for the arcade. Then we could just overwrite the other Arcade files with the one's you've already edited.

I don't use paid subscription or anything similar. I am using the points system to get a better idea of who is a "decent" site member. To gain points they need to post or thank posts. I want to use the points score of a user to limit their site access until they have a set points score. For example :

New User -> Registered Users Group ( which has limited site functionality )
Posts & Thanks posts -> Points score rises above limit
User moved -> New Usergroup without restrictions.

I am also looking at using the "Limit Attachment Views" so that people can only view 30 attachments per day. I could use a points promotion to encourage people to post etc. so they would get unlimited attachment views.

Two important updates:

1) Ton of errors in the mass credit updating script. Should all be out now, download and upload the credits_admin.php to your admincp folder, and you're done. You can then mass award everyone, and it should have the CORRECT values! >.<

To edit a template :

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager

In the right hand pane select the down arrow in between "All Style Options" and the "Go" button and select Edit Templates

In the resulting window scroll down using the vertical scroll bar until you see PostBit Templates. Double click Postbit templates to expand it and scroll down until you see postbit or postbit_legacy ( if you use the old style panel on the left hand side of every post )

Double click on postbit or postbit_legacy

An edit window will appear.

In the "Find" box at the bottom of the editing window paste this and click find:

This will highlight that line. Create a blank line above this by going to the left hand side of the line highlighted and press enter. Click in this new blank line and enter :

The template should now look like this :

Just re read my post and it sounded a little blunt which it really wasnt meant to be :eek:.
The hack is just what we have been looking for since vbplaza had to be removed and now with vpager having to go as well things are getting a bit messy in the templates and just needed a pointer as to were the hook instructions were best placed as i had put them in but still got nothing showing in postbits etc :o

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. What I meant was that if I give someone a 500 credit award and then appropriate credits using the option to perform all transactions. It will give that person the 500 credits, which is fine, but it will also subtract 500 credits from the person who gave them the award as if it was a donation.

Sorry if this has already been answered in this thread, I skimmed through and could see nothing, but I was wondering how one would go about changing the formula used to calculate total points given for specific actions. Most of the values seem fine except for the fact that users get an amazing amount of points just for rating a thread and I'd love to change this to balance the economy of my forums.

You can set the amount for thread rating in the usergroup settings. Also, there is a global setting which allows you to vary the amount against the rating, and I think you have it set to yes and you want it to be no ;)

Dont forget ALL awards can be negative and fractional (even 'bad' actions can be positive, and vice versa)

You need to put the template hook directly before the closing table tag. it gets its own tr tags so it needs to be directly before.

also, to award credits retroactively, go to update counters and run the form at the bottom. I will be including a new admincp menu in 1.4 to link directly to it.

For now we are stuck with the hook, but in 1.4 I already have the code switched around to use the postbit. The difference is it is now a template edit, but at least you can all display it like you want :)

No you do not have to disable the reputation system, it works alongside it.
vBCredits does NOT come with anything to spend points on, but it can be used with many third party scripts, or with some specialty systems I am still putting together. Look in the first post for a nonexhuastive list of compatible third party scripts.

In your future version, I would appreciate if you could change the usergroup option to allow post awards Positive awards only, and Positive & Negative awards.

This mod is great, but I having problems with the correct amount of credits being earned. I'm running VBulletin 3.6.7. I have set the usergroups to receive similar credit earnings that are very conservative (no credits for amount of text, 1 credit for each post, 3 credits for a new thread, etc.) However, when somebody creates a new thread and a couple posts, they end up with around 60 credits. Any ideas?

There was a couple math bugs which were corrected shortly after the main release which screwed up the posting counts. If you did not redownload and reimport the product about 4 days ago or sooner, you might still have the old version. Do that now and see if it still happens. Also, reupload the admincp file and run the credit updater to recalculate the points. If they are the same as they are now, you probably are neglecting some credit settings.

Okay, I don't mean to sound like a ditz, maybe I'm missing this. I thought I read this is suppose to have like a shop, gifts, user end things (paying for username change, titles, colors, etc.). Is this in this mod, or will be? Or will be a total separate mod all together? I thought this was going to be something like VB Plaza as a whole?

:) The current plan is to have 3 main hacks to allow maximum flexibility for what you want to achieve on your forums. Rest assured, with all 3 you will be far ahead of where you were with vbplaza.

I'm testing vbcredits on a testforum and since I upgraded the testforum to 3.6.8, I've received via email the following message a couple of times. Vbcredits itself seem to be running fine. Since the word 'credits' is mentioned a couple of times, I'm posting this here.

Download a new copy of the zip and reapply the files and import the product again. Specifically you need the new version of credits_time.php, but if you dont have the new version of that you are also missing a bunch of other upgrades. It wont affect your credit totals. You will also want to run the scheduled task for Time Based Credit Awards in your admin cp, since you have no doubt missed several days worth.
