Description: This is unlike my past video mod which used bbcode, this one is more simple and works much better for the user too. What it does it parses the url when the post is viewed, so it will work with past links and new links.

So basically the user enters a video link in a post and its automaticly displayed as the actual embedded video.

Thanks a lot: the other BBCode hacks are being ignores by my (stupid) users...they just forget or dont bother to use it although there's a button...

Just installed it on my site to replace the bbcode one that I had previously had. This is much nicer and significantly easier for users!

My one feature request, however, is that you frame it somehow and auto-embed the title of the video in the header of the frame. If it's possible, that would be awesome.

added a new way to get videos from links that wasn't possible before.

Basically when you submit a video link like yahoo's which doesn't have the actual ID inside of the url your server will request the yahoo page and find it, then reconstruct the link so it includes the ID. This will only happen on first submission of the link.

I believe it's this one..The biggest difference between these two mods seems to be that this one parses the links when they're displayed, and AME parses *and edits* the posts as they're made.

Call me a weenie, but I went with this one for now because I like to avoid editing my posts if possible. Seems like it'll work better with future changes.

I'd be interested in seeing this to work with VBAdvanced too, if possible. I can do a little programming, but it's literally a tiny fraction compared to others here - and converting this to use on vbadvanced is far over my abilities.

Currently, the vbadvanced CMS simply shows the url - as oppose parsing it itno the actual code,as done by the forum/hack.

Is there any way of seeing this work with vbadvanced so when using the CMPS page the youtube/yahoo etc. files are displayed as files, rather than links?

unfortunately by creating a dummy proof video system the code is complex and there are many edits.

If you are good with RegEX you should be able to look at the plugins and understand how they work.

Installed last night. I have only tried youtube but it worked perfectly. Easy install, easy usage. Works great.

I do have two questions.

1) Is there a way to set it so only registered users (or certain user groups) can see/play the videos. Like pictures, another way to get people to register. I didn't see any settings in the ACP. Did I miss it?

2) Is there a way to automatically add default text under every video posted. I want to add a disclaimer that advertising videos/commercials are not permitted.

I too seem to be having the same difficulty as the previous posters said. I've read every post here on this subject but haven't found an answere as of yet. So, is the following the proper and all of the steps for importing the xml file and thus making the mod work:

Admin Control Panel > Plugins & Products > Add New Plugin > product-passivevid.xml

Or is there another step I'm missing here or is this not the correct method at all to use to import the file? I did go to vB HELP tutorials Adding a Product (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/add_product) and After an Import (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/impex_cleanup) and scanned over a few other pages in the online manual but to no avail. I saw something about ImpEx but I'm not sure if any of that talk applies here and besides I have nothing in my CtrlPnl resembling that term.

Is there supposed to be a new icon or some other item on the Editor menu somewhere? At this point I'm not sure this is installed properly or not. If so, how would I know?

I found the bitfield xml but it still won't let me upload it. Getting VB message:

one request though.. as i use a lightbox to view some images in posts.. some videos are overlaying the background of the lightbox. this is normal as flash allways gets the top z-index.. unless not specified differently..

the best workaround is.. to add for "<embed links " ALLWAYS a wmode="transparent" AND for <object ... links a <param name="wmode" value="transparent">
youtube does it by default.. but others like google dont..

by adding it in the replacements for those that dont have it.. it makes it more compatible for other hacks AND i have the feeling it loads smoother.. (but id does NOT change any functionallity)

What I'd like to be able to do is let users turn this off based on a profile option.

It's a very nice mod, worked no problem. But since now viewing the site can automatically make requests to youtube if you click a thread with an embedded video in it, and not everyone wants youtube to trigger websense while at work.

You mind if I go in and add another if condition along with the enabled check before the displays? That'll let users turn it on/off on for just them.
