I've tried editing the custom replacement area, but even with setting both align options to center, it still stays centered.

Is it possible to add something that restricts this to the forums of my choice? I do not want video posts all over my site, just a few forums.
Can you add a usergroup control? Possible allow certain usergroups the ability to upload from youtube, while regular users can only upload from break.com?
Also, it would be nice to have these video links in the ACP so that we could easily access the sites.

I'm using passivevid 1.1.2 on VB 3.70, and have passivevid set to zero for forums enabled, usergroups enabled, and viewer usergoups enabled. Brightcove and all sites are checked.
Paasivevid is turned on and other sites are working as expected.

the answer for you solution is almost the same as the one for pr0k. Your site does not have VBSEO installed and in passiveVid 1.1.2 it doesn't actually grab the titles, the upcoming release will.

heres a status update.

currently i have it working with 22 video sites, i still need to do 8 more. 5 of them require advanced logic and the other 3 are adult sites.

a fun feature for 1.2 will be the ability to globally control the embed size to a fixed size or reduce all by a %. (may add an max/min height and width)

also its easy to add gobal embed attributes now its going to be as easy as this:
(in the admincp)

attributes.allowFullScreen = 'true';
attributes.wmode = 'opaque';


and this one will still support the custom replacement, it will work a little differently though.

width = __videow__
height = __videoh__
title = __videot__
href = __videohref__
containerid = __videoe__

so for this one you will basically need to use a containerid because it uses swfobject so your custom replacement can be as simple as this:

right off the bat it removes the need to have VBSEO for titles.

here are a few key things for the new version:

+ little to no server stress upon page generation
+ better universal embedding system (globally add default settings)
+ globally control embed widths/heights
+ titles without vbseo
+ fixed all of the broken sites, and removed support for the sites that no longer exist or support embedding

Is there a way to post a youtube link simply as a link and not an embed for those videos where embedding has been disabled? Ive tried to write the link in different ways but (impressively) the mod insists on always recognizes it as a youtube link and embeds the blank vid.

I've been having problems with a couple user posted youtube videos. I'm getting the video is no longer available message, and sometimes just a blank video box. I've found out why however. The video's that they have linked to have actually been moved from www.youtube.com/watchblahlah to something like this, http://ca.youtube.com/watchblahblah. you can compare it to the mods currently out there, the current release will remain public and free. But the new release will take the load off your server, any site that gets a heavy amount of traffic will notice that this mod does bog down the server. (the new release will be feature rich and offer total flexibility. (restrict per usergroup, user can enable/disable embeding, restrict per forum, signatures on/off, blogs on/off, and a few more)

also the inviter mod, breaks the TOS of almost every email client.

I read your msgs...

hopefully in a week or two, its a huge change

right off the bat it removes the need to have VBSEO for titles.

here are a few key things for the new version:

+ little to no server stress upon page generation
+ better universal embedding system (globally add default settings)
+ globally control embed widths/heights
+ titles without vbseo
+ fixed all of the broken sites, and removed support for the sites that no longer exist or support embedding

the new version im building is built ground up and it additionally supports these sites as of now (i basically went back about 40 pages and read what you all requested):

+ collegehumor
+ vimeo
+ gmx.net
+ mtv
+ revver
+ dailymotion
+ tudou
+ movieweb
+ youmaker

and theres a few sites i still need to add which require advanced methods:

+ megavideo
+ worldstarhiphop

+ pornotube (had it before)
+ megarotic

after i finish adding these eight video sites, ill be working on a easier administration system for restricting and enabling on specific forums and usergroups.

yea thats due to the owner of the video disabling embeds or the video was deleted

for youtube i will add checking on submission, to see if embedding is disabled.

This is sometimes to do with copyright issues, the user may have posted a video of say Madonna for which the video may be subject to a copyright claim by the owner who rather than deleting the video allows the video to remain but adds adsense and blocks the embedding code.

Thanks for that, I had forgotten that Alexa provides this information, haha, I realise those two porn sites rank highly, but in this particular instance is genuinely of no use to me.

YouTube is currently kicking loads of users off the site who've uploaded video's containing copyright material - they seem to have adopted a blanket 3 strikes and you're banned approach to users, an attitude which is biased against the very users whom are generally wanted on a website - users that take the time to post and post again and again!

Bearing in mind that probably 80 - 90% of video's already on YouTube have some form of questionable copyright material whether it be video or musical or image based, leads me to think YouTube may not be the leading video provider for much longer, and the reason for me asking the question in the first place.

Not wishing to take this thread off-topic, if anyone has any comments about YouTube or related websites, please post the reply via the link below, any further comments as regards this hack please reply to this thread.

did u put it in your includes/xml folder. Also the current version has been downloaded about 3,500 times and i haven't read about anyone's database locking up. Can you re-produce the bug?

I have done this and its a great improvement but it aligns the video to the left (instead of keeping it centred). Can this be fixed in the next version?

I've just did it. Take a look at there and see the link I posted there. It's a tricky one on my forum. When users cut-and paste that kind of link it came with some BB codes attached and those are responsible to show the video twice.
Anyway, it seems to work fine on 2.0 !!!:up:

Since upgrading to vb 3,7.2 we are getting a weird problem on our forum.

If a user posts a video, we are getting an extra youtube bbcode appear. That is messing up site layout. It wasnt happening before.

Have you tried using the noparse BBcode? your-link-goes-here.xyz. Maybe make a button for the editor to call for it.

Go to Vb options in your adminCP, then Passivevid Settings. Under custom replacement, you can edit the html code and take out those variables.

hmm, RrCoX22 you make the installation process look so complicated. Was it really that bad? I tried to make it as easy as possible.

Using PassiveVid 1.1.2 on VB 3.7.2 I get a pretty good bug when we have stupid user tricks

A user used img tags and put a youtube URL inbetween them. This totally hosed up the vb templates for the showthread page messing up all the buttons and tables for the bottom of the post. Worst, another user quoted the post, and her post was all jacked up too.

I tested with the vb default templates and this problem still persists. Not sure if this was reported earlier or is new.

For someone that wants to try to fix XTube, it looks like the replacement code is under Plugins under 'passiveVid - Global Array'. Then you can search for XTube and find the code replacement.

I think XTube just changed their URL format, so hopefully this plugin will be updated soon.

For some reason StreetFire.net videos don't work using passiveVid 1.1.2 on vBulletin v3.7.2 Patch Release 1. Perhaps this will be fixed in passiveVid 2.0 as I see it's working on the "2.0 complete test" thread on scriptasy.com. :) I will gladly pay for 2.0!

We've had a youtube button installed for some time now, but only about 10% of people used it. This is perfect :)

We're seeing a lot of Vimeo videos cropping up these days cos the quality's so nice :)

The support site is down and I followed the directions to the letter (not a newb at this). Installing Passive Video 2.0

1. First, unzip the Passive Video zip file you downloaded from the licenses area to your hard disk.
2. Upload the entire contents of the 'upload/' folder to your web server, in the same directory where vBulletins showthread.php is located.

4. Rebuild the foruminfo (AdminCp -> Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Rebuild Forum Information)

There is no solution to this problem. Either YouTube removed the video off there server or the user deleted it or a copyright order was done such as certain rock videos that say "embedding disabled by request", they will not embed with this hack.

You can't code an embedded object to stay on a site and pull from the other site if the video is no longer there or embeddable.

When this mod is enabled I get RSS errors like below.

The first time I click on the RSS link I get the errors. If I click it a second time the RSS feed works perfectly. If I disable the mod, clear cache/cookies all RSS feeds from my site work perfectly the first time.

Anyone experience these errors? Great mod by the way.

I actually did some tinkering around with this and while I don't know what caused the RSS error, nor do I know which version he fixed it in or if it will be fixed in 2.0.0. But what could be part of the problem is that you can actually take a video feed from youtube, and put it through your RSS Feed Manager on vBulletin and with this add on disabled it will just post the link to the video or nothing at all, depending upon what RSS options you are choosing ( i.e. encoded, description, more url, etc. ). If you enable this add on, you can grab there RSS feeds and this modification will automatically embed the object into the thread.

Because this modification changes the url to a video or auto embeds that, that is what is making it be able to embed videos through the RSS which is actually really cool. Because the more options we have that work with this mod, the more we can have literal RSS video feeds without using HTML to post the flash video's.

I am going to set up some small amount of daily feeds on my forum and probably show a link so people can see how it works. It's pretty sick, and places like YouTube and such like Gametrailers offer a ton of different video rss options.

Of course while however cool this is, it still messes up the RSS for our own forums, which I don't know why but I read a few posts ago that it might be fixed or is fixed, which version???

I am cool with being one of the first for 2.0.0 as long as it is compatible with 3.6.8 PL 2, AND I want the RSS error fixed that we've talked about above. Oh...and I want CNN.com added as well.

CNN allows embedding of videos and they have a Video RSS feed, which means I could RSS Feed CNN video news with a combination of there Feed and your modification.
