PHP Templating System

Hey,

Im learning php and learning at quite a fast rate. What im interest in getting help/guidance on is a php/mysql templating system. I already have a file based templating system but im interested in making it easier for users to edit if I had it a mysql templating system..like vBulletin.

Im also interested in how vbulletin does phrases from the database like..in a template you put something like $welcome_message and it displays "Welcome User!" or whatever.

I've tried looking at vBulletins code and database but its just too large to read/learn and understand from for me just now.

Any guidance/help is appreciated!

if you find vB content too heavy to read, i would suggest you quit your goal of learning PHP... vBulletin use one of the lightest engine of the late years... easy to read, fully documented, you can't dream of a better script to learn... (until i reinvent it!)

By too large to read, I mean im unable to follow it to the parts im looking for.

But again, thanks for your oh great words of wisdom and support to someone whos TRYING to learn vbulletin.

And bear that in mind everyone who's knew to vBulletins code. If your as thick as me..and you cant read/follow the "lightest engine" to find what you want just "quit your goal of learning php"

PHP is a templating system. However, I would suggest that you do a search on SMARTY. It is by far the most well known template system but on top of what PHP already offers. I don't know if it has a methodology to store its content in MySQL or not but I don't see why it couldn't be.

if you need a templatesystem use smarty!
