Is there a way to make the"installed mods" in our usercp more customizable ? Some of us have more then one forum we run, and all the sites dont always have the same mods installed. Think it would be helpful if we can catagorize which mods can go to which site. So when we are upgrading one site we can go into that section of the installed mods and see which ones needed to be updated easily.

For example
Mod 1,3,4,5,9 Installed to Forum A
Mod 2,6,7,8 Installed to Forum B
Mod 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 installed to forum C

Possible in a future update or is it already there and Im missing it ?

i think it goes all to you to deal with that kind of management... vB.org is not your task manager... think of it... (it is the usual answer from guys here that requested that long time ago!)

It's a great idea though and wouldn't be hard to do either.

I think it's a terrific idea. Current I just have multiple usernames and organise installs that way but it's a pain to do.

that's how I do it as well, though I still think this is an excellent idea as it would make it much easier

I am not saying that we will never implement such a system, but it is very low on our priority list.

This is typically something that you should administer in another way, a text or spreadsheet on your PC for example.

Actually, I think the proper place for this is in the admincp itself. The version check is nice, but it needs to go a step further and show the version status with some sort of simple indicator next to each installed mod. Basically, what I think the org needs FWIW is a mod server.

Well quite. I can only speak for myself, but I don't see why it should be organised separately on a spreadsheet when there's an install system that was specifically built to do exactly that job, albeit only for one forum at a time.

If you're going to have to write it all down by hand somewhere instead of using the install system then there's little point having an "Installed modifications" list at all unless you only have one forum. And for a site like vBulletin.org I would imagine that there's a fairly significant proportion of active members with more than one forum. Even if the other one is just a testvb.

I dunno, I just don't see the logic in that myself. Imagine if your browser only stored bookmarks for a limited array of sites and the software creator told you to write the rest down on a bit of paper instead of using the system built for the job.

Ok so it's a slightly arbitrary comparison but not entirely irrelevant. Well whatever, not a big deal.

You are adding meanings to the Installed button that where never intended.

If you click installed, then your email address is added to the list of emails to sent update notices to, and it will show in your profile. It has never been the intention to use it as a list of websites where a modification is installed.

Update notices are sent to a user (ie. person, you) to notify them of an update. Where they are using this modification is irrelevant.

Well yes, ok fair enough. But what's this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=showinstalledhacks) if not a list of installed modifications for personal management?

I don't understand why it is done at vB.org at all. As I said, it makes more sense from the admincp. Here is what SMF does.
