The way it work, you have a search page. You type in the name of the movie, the search result gives you a list (one or more) of the similar titles. You click on that title, it displays all the info for that movie. You like it, then you click on "Add Movie" and it creates the thread for you automatically using the data manager.

I am basically done for most people. But since the movies produced in my country do not all find their way to IMDB, I still have to do a manual entry interface for those.

After a while you'll get used on how to create images so they show nicely in IE.
Since your images are more in width, I would suggest adjusting the $maxchars so it takes less space and display more image. Also play with the css for title.

Okay, I purchased the addon and already received it via email. I unzipped it renamed the folder to mod_fpslideshow in order to match the directions and the path within slideshow.php. I uploaded the folder to my clientscript folder and chmod all .js files to 777. Next, I edited the slideshow.php file and only applied one forum number (110). I changed all the /forums path to /vb and I'm assuming here:

I would change that to the direct path to the mod_fpslideshow.js file -- like this:

I uploaded 4 images to my new forum, and then created a php module within the vbacmps following the directions and activated the module, but for some reason I'm getting the following error:

The mod is also not playing nice with my skin/theme. It's throwing the header bar underneath the mod and nothing is aligning.

Did I miss something?

Which scripts? I've searched all 4 .js files and the .css file and didn't see any paths to change.

Yea, I checked that and confirmed that there are no commas after the single forum number.

Note, I figured out a portion of my problem(s). For one, after unzipping the addon, it created a folder mod_fpslideshow_1.1 Folder, and within that folder is another folder: mod_fpslideshow. What I did was renamed the mod_fpslideshow_1.1 Folder to mod_fpslideshow and copied that folder into the clientscript directory. The final path ended up being /clientscript/mod_fpslideshow/mod_fpslideshow/

Once I figured out my blunder, I deleted the folders and just uploaded the sub-folder: mod_fpslideshow into the clientscript directory --- so now part of my problem was fixed, but I still had the Warning Error.

It turns out, this mod only works with ATTACHMENTS. I have the Geek Gallery Popup 4.00 and highslide mod(s) installed, so when I created the new forum, and applied images - I applied images using Geek Gallery Popup.

I re-applied an image as an attachment, and now the images work (sorta) along with the addon. Since my style is not fixed, the module resizes with the browser, so I need to figure out how to apply a 100% width w/out making it stretch outside the normal middle column boundaries.

And, the modules title bar is still displaying under the addon.

Yes, my site is tightly integrated with Joomla. The two breath together. And thanks to that, I can integrate any md5 based script with Vbulletin, via Joomla.

I have tons of nice integrations on my site, but I can't release them because they are dependents of various other hacks.

you need to open slideshow.php and set the width, the height and the $forumid you want to pull images from.

set the $limit for how many images in the $getnews query.

this hack is not a camera, it does not redo pictures. if you have a space of 500 x 400 and you resize an image of 650 x 416 don't expect it to fill it.

In your php file, find

The full hack that is being sold adds tremendous options to Joomla and is original, just like my mod. If you read again, you will see that all I did was using the javascript (part of which was coded by Fotis) and said to disregard the rest. So why bashing the guy's work when you don't even know what entailed into it?

FYI I have joomla installed on my site, I paid for this hack like everyone else. I was impressed by the interaction it provided, allowing you to pick and choose which content to include in the slideshow, or to even add outside articles.

Vbulletin being my main site I decided to port it. The only difference between his and mine, mine is fully automated, where as his you must select from joomla's content, in a convenient manner.

After I ported it, I requested and was given permission by vb.org to share it here. I don't make a dime out of it and I will not allow someone to call someone I know and respect a thief.

I have tons of nice mods on my site and was getting ready to release them little by little. Really guys like you turn coders off.

solution : go to slideshow.php -> edit $forumid=array(xx); -> place the id of the forum you want to pull from.
then , go to the forum you want to pull from, add an image by using html or the attachment system.
you should see the image on the cmps page(s)

I took my mod down. 90% of the code I posted (including the digits) is from the commercial addon. All I did was to adapt it to the vbulletin database.

I have been here since 2001 and I watched many talented coders disappeared thanks to parasites morons like you. And I am about to join their ranks.

-stealing dynamic drive scripts
-stealing moofx and selling it

they posted a screenshot of the emails explaining that dynamic drive said 'its ok for them to use their scripts as donation ware' but the other people did not respond.

It's because they are putting small images in there. I have set my width at 396 and best size in that case should have been 400 or higher.

I have the calendar addon, but I don't use that in my rotation. The image that you put in there was not an uploaded image (unless you managed to install the upload attachments in calendar hack like I did). In any case, that image belongs to events not showthread. Try to upload it in the first post of showthread and you'll be fine.

Going to try to install this calendar attachment hack.

#1.-Stay away from the calendar attachment hack unless you know what you are doing. It was done for 3.07 and requires extensive file edits to make it work for 3.60 (few functions, newattachment.php, attachment.php, showthread.php and some javascript in clientscript. It can mess you up big time.

#2.-My hack is pulling from showthread table, so it will not care about attachmens in events if you managed to install that hack, unless you modify it.

#3.-The hack is pulling directly from database and it does not use any vb attachment template, so I don't see how highslide (which I don't use) could affect that.

Please read the first post for instructions again: The hack pulls the last uploaded images in showtread.

Sorry that you have to go to that, but my hack is using copyrighted code that was reproduced with permissions. As a personal note, for months I have been wanting to have that "big guys" look. I was able to reproduce it using various free mods available, but none would have the digits navigation. Once I found that joomla hack, I was so happy with it that I just wanted to share it with the community.

1. Go to admincp >> vbcmps >> add module. Select "PHP file".
2. select file to include: slideshow.php

yup. then I guess I have a problem...so how about helping us "module challenged" out would ya?!! lol. the problem isn't the phrase "upload to modules folder" ..its WHAT do are we supposed upload to the modules folder, ie: instead of "the module" ... I think it would have been more clear to just say "slideshow.php." (so, "upload slideshow.php to your modules folder"). I mean wouldn't hurt to be more explicit with file names and locations and such would it? and it may help. I think it was a fair suggestion.

If anything..it would save u some time having n00bs with "problems" and annoying you with stupid questions, no? note though: I even see from the thread that I actually wasn't the first who wasn't 100% sure exactly what you meant. If you disagree... oh well, you're the boss with this. And again, as I said, the hack is appreciated and cool ... I was just making a honest assertion of belief that the instructions were making more assumptions than I usually see with installs and could be more explicit.....and thus less confusing. but that's just imho. There is two module file coming with the package. One is mod_fpslideshow.zip and the other one is com_fpslideshow.zip. You shall upload mod_fpslideshow and the content.

ok, this is working for me really well!

in the config i have the limit set to 8

when i post one new article in the temporary test forum that i am using to test out the script, it works great! article pops up, links work just fine...everything dandy..

when i posted another story after that, no slider at the bottom to select between two stories. it just stays on the first original story. even when i sticky the second/third/fourth story...still just that one originally posted story is showing up, no difference.

i am still trying to figure out the problem, but any assistance would be much appreciated.

I have to agree your installation instructions aren't very elaborate, and you pay 22 euros for files that don't come with any read me's or instructions whatsoever. I hope you can supply me with some good support here or else I'm gonna be pretty upset.

No random. This is a "NEWS" slideshow. It will display the latest news with attachments first. But if you have stickies with attachments, they get priorities.

except one problem lol

in the config i have the limit set to 8

when i post one new article in the temporary test forum that i am using to test out the script, it works great! article pops up, links work just fine...everything dandy..

when i posted another story after that, no slider at the bottom to select between two stories. it just stays on the first original story. even when i sticky the second/third/fourth story...still just that one originally posted story is showing up, no difference.

i am still trying to figure out the problem, but any assistance would be much appreciated.

***Update - do i have to upload mod_fpslideshow.php or mod_fpslideshow.xml and if so where? and also is the zip file com_fpslidershow1.1.zip of any use, or is it only necessary to use the files in mod_fpslideshow1.1.zip?

I have to agree your installation instructions aren't very elaborate, and you pay 22 euros for files that don't come with any read me's or instructions whatsoever. I hope you can supply me with some good support here or else I'm gonna be pretty upset.

So what is your problem exactly? All you have to do is set the forumsid and it is assumed that you know how to install a module and that you understand the difference between posts and threads. The hack works out of the box.

As far as the digits not displaying, if you read thru the posts, some wantabe smart guy posted a pirated version on the site, so I removed them to protect the developper. If you paid for the javascript, send him an email and ask him for full slideshow.php for vbulletin. That's all.

Question about the slideshow you bought should be directed to the script owner.

I completely understand your frustration when you run into trouble and don't have quick answer to your questions.

First thing you should do is to look at all the posts and see if someone has the same trouble. Most of the time, I found the answer from other user posts.

I don't know Lionel in person but I used his mod (VBA stock trader mod) and he is more than going the extra mile to help me.

I like your new look. I would only change the width in the module. I believe there is also a place I harcoded it to 396 instead of $width.

The way I did mine, I added left column width + right column = columns, then I did site wide size - columns, keeping in mind the spacing.

The developper also gave me the idea of making the bottom digits strip long. That's in the css

I like your new look. I would only change the width in the module. I believe there is also a place I harcoded it to 396 instead of $width.

The way I did mine, I added left column width + right column = columns, then I did site wide size - columns, keeping in mind the spacing.

The developper also gave me the idea of making the bottom digits strip long. That's in the css

i made a seperate slideshow.php file and configured it properly, and created a new php center block in vbportal with no templates and the code:

it seems to access the php file just fine, however for some reason the javascript isn't working properly and i get javascript errors and the page doesn't load

If you are making that column 360, then remember that you are adding padding to the slideshow too. If the padding is 2px then you need to make the slideshow 356 px (360 minus 2px times 2 for both sides)

One final bit of help needed if possible........... I have checked and tried changing things in the css sheet, but just can't seem to manage changing the title colour from black to a different colour.

Looks like in IE6, the background color (where you have the intro text over it) are black while in FF, IE7, Opera, it's a light transparent gray where you can the background color through it.

Hopefully the 1.2 version fixes this.

I'm trying to get my head around this mod and the Joomla addon... more specifically what this mod does that makes it work with vB.

I use vbPortal so I'm wondering what I would have to do to get the Joomla addon to work on a vbPortal page.
This mod was created specifically for vbadvanced. I am not familiar with vbportal.
I don't think you quite understood what I'm asking... what does your mod do to make it work / interact with the Joomla mod? I don't want to pay to download the Joomla mod only to see the specifics of how it does (from a site owner's perspective) what it does.
