Just tested in safari. The contorls are appearing, but they seem to take a long while, or a stange random movement of the mouse over the popped-up image.

*quick update * If you move the mouse over the top left area of the image that pops-up, the controls appear.

The left and right arrow keys still work, even before the controls appear.I tested in Safari, and it gets bogged down. The controls do appear, but if you don't hover over the left side, they won't appear. Most average Joe's won't know this. Most of my members use Safari. Hopefully you can find the problem.

Can you make this? In other words, for each attachment, I can enter some descriptive text and when a user clicks on the image, it opens it up and shows the text below the image.

I think I saw such a feature at one of the images displayed at Highslide's website.

You could probably do a javascript resize for images over a certain size which would zoom in like this if they didn't fit your max dimensions. Bit like the ncode image resizer (which I use), but different.

No idea how this would be done though!

Just FYI mini2, Spleasure (the coder of ncode) has posted (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1176800&postcount=284) that he's contemplating integrating "lightboxing" as a choice for enlarging pics resized by his add-on. Seems like these two are a match made in vBulletin mod heaven!

Working with the image tag would be fantastic as we have our limits for attachments at a pretty small to modest size.

There's an [attach] code, if you click the paperclip icon when making a new post/reply it shows there. You must upload the attachments as usual first, then the paperclip works.

Hello mini2,

I've got a question. I currently am displaying my VB install, within a 900 pixel wide iframe. When I click on an image and highslide opens it up, if I drag the image, it will hide behind the edges of the iframe.

Is there a way to be able to drag the images over the edges of the iframe window?

The problem is that if the image is wider than 900 pixels, then the edges of the image will be cropped out of view, by the edges of the iframe.

Unfortunately the coder of the hack wants to avoid darkening the background to avoid replicating the original lightbox script. :(
Our forum being a photography forum do not want to compromised on the high contrast image presentation that the lightbox script offers. Which is to bad because this script is so much faster than the original.

I can only hope that someone might work on the lighbox script to enhance its speed and performance as well.

I wonder also... is lightbox the first script ever to darken the screen?

The img tag is a tricky thing indeed. I have it working for img tags only when from my gallery, as I know what the format will be, not as a resizer, just as a pop-up.

I don't have a standard Navbar at all, so cant comment on that, but I do have Adsense, which yours is also appearing under, and I've just checked that in safari and the adsense is under the pop-up image.

So not sure if it's some container you may have adsense and the navbar wrapped up in?Camino, Safari, Firefox, all display the same. Viewer under the navbar.

I prefer it this was, as when people use things like "lightbox" you cannot read the page and look at pictures. This way you can open many images, slide them around the page, and read the post/article they relate to as well.

In the my skin css file, the navbar is set to display on top of everything. I had to add a new line in the css for the #highslide-container, which puts it on top of the navbar.

In layman's terms, how does that affect the vB mod?

I installed/upgraded to the new version (again, by adding highslide.css, editing highslide.js, uploading the entire highslide folder) and it seems to be working fine for me. I'd only installed up to "Basic Integration" on the instructions previously, though.

So I'm curious to know how the omission of the highslide-container id should/might affect my forum.

I saved the previous folder as "highslide-old" so it'd be easy to revert back...

I realize if I use a skin (other than default) which is sitting in the images folder (ie: /images/newskin/)

The highslide plugin seems to load slower.. and also does not show the navigation buttons on the image when loaded.

Do we have to change any settings if we use other skins?

EDIT, i've tried to force that loader css in the extra-definitions in vB, still the same, i also read that maybe i have an a:link css definition which is taking over or stopping my loader icon... not sure which yet, i've tried various styles (child/parent) and nothing....

Actually reading other forums and after a good 2 hours playing im resigned to giving up, even the author of this script makes excuses like 'he's traveling' etc.. and still the same question over & over again and to this day as yet un-solved... i can do any more time on this...

Might be a 'dominant' css, but i doubt it... everything else is being picked up in that css, the control bar grafix for example... anyways good luck on sussing it...might be really simple

Exact same problem as B6. I'm also experiencing the following symptoms.

- No "loading" graphic

- If you click on an image to enlarge before the browser has completed loading, user gets an "operation aborted", IE6-7 presents error page.

- Inline moderation is majorly messed up, specifically the moderation box on the lower right of a thread is blank.

- I cannot re-create this, but after installing, I have received a handfull of reports stating "how do I post a thread". Interpeted, the user is not seeing the "new thread" icon. Sounds alot like my inline moderation symptom.

I have run accross similar problems like this in the past with .js menus, etc with similar behaviour. Something is definately broken with this setup, and the .js is conflicting with VB -somewhere-.

Good on ya to the author, this is a cool mod, but I'm uninstalling until some of this is resolved.

After installing vbadvanced, attachments are behaving now like they do in a fresh install of vBulletin. They just open in a new _parent window. It's as if highslide or this hack don't exist.

I ran through the installation instructions again to make sure the vBadvanced installation didn't overwrite anything.

I've discovered the majority of my problem. The "Highslide" directory path needs to come back one level first because of a custom content page.

However, the control bar is not appearing along with the attachments. An example can be seen here.

I've discovered the majority of my problem. The "Highslide" directory path needs to come back one level first because of a custom content page.

However, the control bar is not appearing along with the attachments. An example can be seen here.

However, one thing I've come across is for those who are unregistered or are in a usergroup that doesn't have access to image attachments - where they used to see just a text link to an image file - the thumbnail image is now displayed to them! The good news is.....when clicked on, nothing happens, other than it simply saying "Loading" overlayed on the thumbnail image.

So my questions are....is it possible to get the text link of the image back and if not, is there a way to changing the "Loading" text to something else, such as "Access Denied" or something similar, not globally, but just for this scenario? As with the mod in place, they don't get thrown to the "not logged in or you do not have permission" page now, which was the previous behaviour.

I'm sorry for just now checking back in here. I was able to get it working with VB Advanced. The problem I was having stemmed from the fact that I had my VB Advanced pages in a different directory than my forum directory. When I moved my VB Advanced pages into my forum directory that fixed my problem.

Looks like something on your end. Mine are not like that, still the same. You need to login or register to view. Try settting to "enlarge in same window" option, see if that works.

Thanx dude... i was using 3.1.0, the path seemed ok, i changed the path to a full path but no luck, so i updated to 3.1.7 same path and it worked... cheers for the advice and help

It doesn't, but that would be really nice.. Sort of a hybrid between this image resizer (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=118048&highlight=image+resize) and this Highslide mod. Having the Highslide mod kick in once a picture is too large to fit in the postbit would be a nice feature.

Edit: I found that using the highslide.packed.js file makes the loading much faster.. Or so it seems. Any hard evidence?

If you are going to use this vb hack for anything other like vbadvanced then you need to make sure any relative urls are converted to absolute ones. so anything like

/highslide/css/highslide.css becomes. --- http://www.yoursite.com/highslide/css/highslide.css


That way when a script that is not vbulletin looks for the.js and css files it knows where they are or they are in the right place...

Needs to be removed from highslide.css. This causes fonts all over the page to change size. I noticed this in Opera 9, and then after validating the highslide.css (You also should remove the <style> tags from the CSS) it caused this font problem in all browsers.

Edit: I just realized you've created instructions for your own highslide.css, but in case anyone is using the highslide.css that comes with the Highslide package, you must remove parts of the CSS.

Unusual one here.
I have an exact duplicate of my forums on a dev machine. This mod works perfectly and first time out on the dev machine but on the live site all I get is 'Loading' on the thumbnail.
The ONLY diference between the two sites is that the 'Live' site has safe-mode=on which means the images are stored within the database.
Any suggestions please?

The problem we were suffering was that with vBSEO enabled a click on an attachent (image) just produced the 'Loading' label on the thumbnail, with nothing else. I have one of my coders working on it (well, he will on Monday, tight fisted git :( )

Got it working both for attachments below the post and now in-line attachments. Nice affect ... I wonder how much delay (extra loading time) it has on the graphics use, as compared to the traditional method. It certainly "jazzes" up the look and feel though.... :up:

I have a moderator running Firefox 2.0.0.3 (Javascript is enabled) , who says that the "in-line" thumbnails won't load ..... loading logo comes up and sits there but no pic, but the regular attachment ones (end of post) work just fine?

Upload the attcap.gif on your forum's images/editor folder in binary mode. Then while the creating the bbcode tag just put images/editor/attcap.gif on the Button Image (Optional) field. This should work. Give a try! ;)

Hi, nice hack! I installed it, but i'm dealing with one problem. It's affecting links aswell. If a member posts a link, and you hover over it, the curser changes to the Highslide curser and when you click it it says loading and keeps loading... Can you please help me?

I moved from database to file system and also upgraded my board, Ive noticed some posts have the integration and some don't. ( I went through and double checked all file edits since I had to re-do the inline edits...

Any ideas?

3. put highslide files under your forumroot/highslide/

Well i have 3.6.0 so it should be working but the issue is it isn't. When i click on the image after file edits it just sits there loading all day, and no windows. Attached images in the box do work though.

With this update.....is there any workaround for when "unregistered" users clicking on a thumbnail and are left with a "LOADING" message.....would like for them to get the regular no permission page or similar such indicator on the thumb.

The OLD code works so well and so cleanly on my current v3.6.7PL1 system (members love it), I'm afraid to start backing out all the template edits and make the changes.... :D

BTW, how does one handle the optiional (, align: 'center') change in the new code? I really like the way that works in the OLD code.

To get the images to "zoom out" centrally, after installing the product, go to your Plugin Manager in the vBulletin admin control panel.

I did it differently.

In highslide.js change the following values:

marginRight : 35, // leave room for scrollbars + outline
marginTop : 10,
align : 'auto', // position in the client (overrides anchor)To:

I've installed the hack local for testing purpose and online. Every click on an attached image per post, an entry in error.log is generated. I think the onclick line is the problem in 'Highslide Attachment Thumbnail'. Maybe a problem of highslide and not your hack.

Hm, i understand (i see my mistake, sorry). The problem is, without " and with IE i can attached images, but with a click on that attached image, it shows me a wrong image. Will look later again. Thank you very much.

I can constantly reprocedure it with IE 7. With Firefox no entries are written to the log. :(
The page/thread with the images need to refresh/reload to reproduce the error.

I have the plug-in disabled and edited the template directly, so i have no problems to display wrong images.

A little thing, if you quickedit your post, which has an image and a comment. After your edit, you need to refresh the page if you want to see the comment again.

I downloaded a zip file, all I got were two instructions, attcap.gif, highslide.css, and product-mini2_hs.xml. I went through both instructions and couldn't find "graphic folder" nor highslide.js within a zip file i downloaded.

Did you forget to update the instruction or I only need to import product-mini2_hs.xml for this addon to work now? What do I do with the rest of these files?

Here's a question about v2.0, as it relates to people who have already installed the older version with multiple template edits.

We installed the old highslide.css, but since then have had changes (additions) to add functionality that's unrelated to this mod.

If we install v2.0, will it overwrite our current highslide.css and therefore, we'd lose that added functionality. In otherwords, if we put our old highslide.css back over the new v2.0 highslide.css, will this updated v2.0 continue to work?

But, the lightbox by redgoals breaks the "attach" option to put the pictures in the middle of the post instead of at the bottom.

Yours does both, at the bottom and in the post. Plus I like how your mod keeps all the pictures the same size.

The ONLY reason I installed redgoals is to have the highslide in the VBPicgallery. Now my in the post pictures are broken, plus the VBpicgallery lighbox mod is not working. The lightbox picture appears a mile down the page in the bottom left hand corner.

So I have come here to ask for HELP!!!!

The vBPicGallery + Lightbox/Thickbox is three template edits. Can these PLEASE be tweaked to point towards your highslide feature??

So I am back to your lightbox and its working with the inline line attachments as well. Which is where I am going to stay. Even if this does not work with VBPicgallery, I am going to stick with your lightbox.
