I'm not sure if you were referring to yourself when you used the phrase "utterly useless" but I can tell you that I have been using this add-on through several versions of vBulletin 3.x and continuing with vBulletin 4.0 Gold through 4.1.5. This add-on has saved me a LOT of work and grief over the years.

I have just installed this in a 3.8.4 vbulletin. I found a problem with a testing user. It is a primary usergroup of "experimented" users. its id number is 70 (not any "protected user group" especified in ezbounce.php, neither 5, 6 nor 7), but this gives me an error message saying that the user belongs to a protected user group. What is happening, and what can I do?. Thank you.

Can someone explain me, step 2 from installation, if I use vbulletin 4.1.5 ?

"2. Go to your AdminCP>vbulletinoptions>EZ Bounce management for admins and modify the admincp url so it matches your path to admincp. Also, if you want to move members into another usergroup when processing bounces, change these settings here."

I don't find something similar in 4.1.5

It works just fine on 4.0 Gold all the way to 4.1.5 PL1.

Each time I receive a bounced email from a user whose primary usergroup is "experimented" (id number 70) the system does not accept changing his usergroup to "waiting email confirmation" because he belongs to a "protected user group". But 70 is not especified in ezbounce.php, where you can find 5, 6 nor 7 as protected user groups.

I installed your mod on vB 4.1.5 and it works, thanks.

However I selected the Usergroup 3 "Users that still need to activate their account" as usergroup to move users with bounced emails into.

I then tested it with 5 bounced email users.
3 were moved into this usergroup however 2 where moved into the (not used) COPA usergroup 4 "Users waiting for activation"

Anyone any idea why that happened?

Really looking for this mod. Have board with 81,000 emails and suspect about 50,000 are fake. Don't want to send to bad addresses and get my site ban.

It moves the users into the new group just fine. But when they correct their email it does not move them back to 'registered users'. Whats up with that? Any fix? Or can I just select NO when configuring the "Update Member's Usergroup when Processing Bounces"?

Installed on vb 3.8.7 pl2 and works fine. I still have not tested the return of a user from unapproved group but it should work as usual.

This should be standard feature in VB because in time with many users you will have lots of bounced emails of accounts suspended, full quota or other situation.

I would put the file not in admin folder but in another custom place for security reasons. ( I have renamed my admin folder for security purposes)
I will try later to see if it works, but probably would need some editing in xml file before reinstalling the product.

Some people here said, they use it on 4.1.x and it works. Should I give it a try?

LOVE LOVE LOVE this mod! :) Working very well for me on my 4.1.12, the only problem is a problem with my host (hostmonster) using different email proxies to handle the bounced emails. Some of their proxies don't include full headers which means no link to click on. Who knows when/if they'll fix that ... everyone who I've talked to at hostmonster about it seems to be clue less.

Ok that problem that I blamed on my hosts proxies, is not their problem. The problem is with vB or this mod (I'm inclined to lean towards it being vB's fault).

Here is the reply from my host in regards to the differing email headers;


All 3 messages you included were all sent through the same email proxies so it isn't going to be an issue of our mail proxies. The difference in the headers is the php script that the mail is coming from. The good one is sent from forumdisplay.php where the two bad are sent from showthread.php. The section where that header is, is set by your mailing script not by the server or the mail proxy we use.

I have yet to look into this, but maybe (hopefully) someone here has an idea where to start :D

I haven't been able to figure this out yet :( It only injects the bounce link in forumdisplay.php headers, I'd like to have it inject the bounce link in showthread.php headers as well since that's where the majority of my bounced email headers are coming from.

Can anybody who's using this write a script to pipe the email so that the link automatically gets clicked on rather than me doing it manually? I seem to have 3,500 emails right now and they come through too often to manage manually.

I got many bounces but NONE of them had the EZ link in it.

Except the switch from php to smtp, nothing was changed.

Has anyone figured out a way to manage bounced users twice? It seems if the member has been managed once before and they fix their account, then you try to manage them again with EZ bounce you get a blank white screen. We do not seem to able to find a way to manage them twice with EZ bounce.

i have the follow Problem.
After serverchange, the Addon make a Blank Page, if i clicked on the Link in the Mail.
The Message, that the User is now Bounced coming not.
But the User where moved to the Usergroup that are in the Settings.

A quick fix is to just make it repeat the functions in the if statement rather than an empty "else" at the end of the php file.

Hi,
after Update at 4.2.3 the re-Putting in the original Usergroups is not Working.

A Bounced Mail come back to me.
i Click the Link and the User are moved to the Usergroup (Bad Mail).
After the User changed this Mailadress and confirmed that, hi is not removed from the Bad Mail Usergroup to here original Group.
