learning about codes

Well I was thinking that I want to learn more about coding on VB and what each thing actually means so I can make some simple hacks of my own, but I am at the absolute bottom of the food chain and I rarely understand anything on learning the basics of coding, even what is in the above sticky. Does anyone have any good resources for people like me?
