Update: A verry experienced and devoted programmer has joined the development team, he will work fulltime on the mod from now on (9 January 2007).

vBulletin Media Player for vBulletin 3.6.x

This mod is in Beta stage

Instalation instructions:

Upload all files from the /upload/ directory to the root of your forum, e.g. /forum/
Import the plugin from /import/Upgrade instructions:

Upgrading from 1.0/1.1 to 1.2+
Uninstall the existing product
Import the new product from /import/
Upload all files within /upload/ to your forum root
I will complete this mod with all your wishes when they serve a big audience. Prefereably 100.000+ users.

Please let me know of features you want, video hosts wich should be supported and bugs you find!

Suggestions so far:

Support for adult video hosts like pornotube.com and several others
Not yet implemented, being worked on.
Forum based media posting permissions suggested by

I can't get any player to work at this point, google and youtube are the one's i have tried, and have messed with the setting in my admincp, anymedia......

I noticed to on your test site that the video play box has the windows film icon in the bar.......when i upload a video to my site, i am not getting that.....

On the editor on my site i have the "M" from the original and that film icon. The "M" is clickable and the film icon isn't......does that make any difference?

Let me know if i can help in any way...........this was a great mod at one time.

Feature Request :

It was nice if it was choosable in the AdminCP which BB Code has to be used for which Media Type.

Example :

1. anymedia for everything

nope, i just deleted everything from my server's file area and then reuploaded all the new files and i still can't use the little film icon and my "M" is now gone but the call for function of the "m" is still there.....

It didn't work when I first loaded the video on the forum but after manualy visiting the video URL http://www.myvideo.de/movie/13954 and then returned to the forum it did work.

The embedding code is the original embedding code from MyVideo.de so it must be a bug from MyVideo.de.

There are multiple links to your main site and just my thread of the mod is parsed and served from my domain.

All other links, for example to other threads are 301 to vBulletin.org.

I've implemented your request, I've also referenced to your suggestion in the update.

You can set the permission to alow media in specific forums via the standard vBulletin forum configuration panel.

Regarding parsing of the vBulletin thread. For this I use Mod Rewrite and lib Curl.

K, i just uninstalled your old product, and reinstalled with your new product, and here are the current results:

The permission's now show no error when you upload the .xml, but when you go into the anymedia bb settings, you can see my results........they are unset, and after you try to set them, they do not save.....

You may want to uninstall the .xml, and then reupload it.........the code is there to alter the line $db->query_write("ALTER TABLE `" . TABLE_PREFIX . "usergroup` ADD `canpostmedia` INT( 5 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '1';"); but the product still isn't working correctly........after the install, you can no longer set the player......

Hi!

A lot has changed and optimized. For example, the videos are now parsed to obtain the title and description and instead of parsing the video with every BBParse it will now load from the MySQL database when the video has already been loaded before wich will make it a lot faster.

Further, instead of serving the videos via a custom player it will now use the original player from the videohosts and some videohosts that do not offer embedding have been contacted if they want to be supported and for now have been excluded such is Ifilm.com.

The adminpanel has changed, some easy options have been added to be able to select or unselect all checkboxes at once and forum specific permissions have been added and the original permissions has been optimized.

Not really. I got mp3's, mpg's, swf's, pdf's all working just fine. Everything I have tried has worked, except for the videos from the specific sites, but as long as it ends in a supported extension it seems to work fine.

It will be nice once he gets it all working properly. :)

Thanks for the quick reply jan........After 15 minutes had gone by, i went and tried it again and found that i could set all of the setting's inside the admincp.

I still am not showing the little film icon....but when i type in a post, i am able to upload video's.

So far through my testing, here are the results:

I went into the template code to see if maybe it was calling for the icon as a different name. Its calling Media.gif, the old {M} icon from the earlier versions. I changed the name on the server of the new icon vbmediaplayer.gif to media.gif to see if that would work. It didnt, and the icon on the actual media player was then messed up. So I changed it back. I dont know what to do.

Go to your admincp, Styles & Templates, then style manager and open your style......

locate Editor Templates and open it, then open editor_templates_toolbars_on

Whenever I save my settings in ACP it unchecks a bunch of the video sites. I didnt uncheck them the only change I made was making it so it didn't autoplay. I can't change them back. I have to uninstall, and reinstall to get those settings back.

With embedded media such as youtube vids on my site, when watching the vids, is it adding to the bandwidth useage on my site, or is it comming from the origonal site? I just dont want a bunch of folks posting vids and it eat up my alloted monthly bandwidth in 3 days.

I'm very excited with the potential of this mod but, I'm waiting at least for streetfire support before I install it. Easily half of the streaming media posted on my forum is streetfire, the rest is mostly youtube with a few gvideos.

I would think streetfire would be as easy as youtube - I've manually created BBcode for it so.... ya.

I'm having problems with the plugin named "vB Media Player - Create BBCode"

This plugin is giving conflicts with the main vbulletin javascript initalization : vBulletin_init();

Then the url's at my home page are missing the correct folder when my installation is running. I use vbadvance as home page at www.mysite.com, and my vbulletin is running at www.mysite.com/foros
Not problems on the internal pages. But at my home the vbadvance url's are writed as www.misite.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104 instead of www.misite.com/foros/forumdisplay.php?f=104

I try deactivate the vbmedia player plugins, and i found the the conflict is in that plugin: vB Media Player - Create BBCode

I Hope be clear (sorry about my english) on the point that using vbadvance the url's at my home page are not correctly writed using this product.I'm still looking for fix it, but i'll be gratuful if you take a look too.

This isn't my mod at all, but if you really want the icon, follow my instructions from this post....... (post.......)

Just remember where this update is and when jan get's the player working correctly, you will probably have to go back and undo my update.......It does work how i have it set up though.....

are you using 1.1? i found more than a few errors in 1.2. the most significant is that it includes the original anymedia.js instead of an updated vbmediaplayer.js.

Update to that post, its linked to themes/styles. if they swapped to the default style they can see video, if they use another style they can't. that applied to everyone not just firefox users so only one theme was showing video.

I couldn't work that out as I use one theme as a parent ( not the default) and all other themes are child's of that parent so the template code is identical but only the default theme ( which was a child) showed video.

Problems when saving settings within the media settings in ACP.
Player not showing when using one of the supported media extensions (pdf, wmv, mp3, etc).
