Notes:
- Demo forum shows only postbit_legacy, but usual postbit is also included in template and screenshot is available in attachment.
- Almost every template was modified to include rounded headers, not only index. So xml files are rather large.
- Style includes two versions for every color scheme: fixed and fluid width.
- Logo psd file is in attachment.
- vBAdvanced template files are included in every style in vbadvanced.xml
- If you want some additional color scheme(s) please pm me (note: custom work is not free).

Installation:
Unpack zip file, upload contents of directory "upload" to your forum including subdirectories. Use fixed.xml or fluid.xml to install template.

vBAdvanced Installation:
Install normal style from fixed.xml or fluid.xml, in styles manager select "download/upload", put vbadvanced.xml in file field, in "merge into style" field select previously installed CA Serenity style and upload it. This will add vBAdvanced template files to style you previously installed.

Screenshots and zip files are in attachment.

No, sorry. Pink doesn't work well with this style unless all images are modified to something more pinky.

Sure. See buttons_psd.zip in attachment to first post.

Thank you.

I've updated style for vBulletin 3.6.4. Files for 3.6.3 are also included in zip (only old versions of two modified files as html files, not xml).

I've attached all modified template files, so you don't have to update whole style if you are using version for 3.6.3.

Hi,

I am brand new to vbulletin and I downloaded your Evo green style and for reason the forums do not appear on the main screen once you login. They do appear as normal with the other stlyes I have. Everything else seems to be working normally. Have you go any ideas I what I might look at to correct the problem??:confused:

CyberAlien
11-30-2006, 01:23 PM
It might be some problem with separate tables for categories in forumhome. Is your first forum a category or forum, and can you post link to your forum?

You can't see it on demo because only registered users can reply, so guests don't see quote, multi-quote and reply buttons.

Sorry, all forum's are listed to behave as a forum.
Try forumhome template in attachment. Also replace images/ca_evo/misc/scripts_index.js and all scripts_index.js for other color schemes with one in attachment (change extension from .txt to .js) and make sure you refresh page, so browser would reload js file.

Style updated and version number changed to 1.0.1.

Changes:
- fixed bug causing forums to be hidden if first forum is not a category
- fixed bug causing subforums to be displayed above topics list without spacing.
- now new topics in topics list have different link color than read topics, same as it is with forums on forum index.

If you are updating from old version then the only file that you do need to update is forumdisplay, all other template changes are not important. New version of that template is in attachment.

<td width="180" style="padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px;" valign="top">

<ca-hdr>

</ca-hdr>
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center" style="border-top-width: 0;">
<tr>
<td class="alt1">Content</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt2">Content</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1">Content</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt2">Content</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1">Content</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt2">Content</td>
</tr>
</table>

</td>
<td valign="top"><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%"><tr><td>at the beginning of footer template add this: </td></tr></table></td>
</tr>
</table>
and in "EXTRA" css add this:.content-row td.content-row {
padding: 0;
border-width: 0;
}

and adjust that code in header as needed.

Small update:
- fixed incorrect image locations for red, purple and green color schemes. Some images were refering to ca_evo directory instead of correct directory for that color scheme.

Affected files: ca_evo_green.zip, ca_evo_purple.zip, ca_evo_red.zip

If you are using old version you don't need to reupload file, but you can simply replace all "images/ca_evo/" entries with correct entries for color scheme you are using in following css templates: td.inlinemod, .panel, .panelsurround, .alt1, .alt2, .alt3.

how is this to correct Problem?

PS : I m sorry. 1 dont speak english enough.

I Have VB 3.6.4..
In template forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost assign width to table cells in this code:<tbody>
<tr align="center">
<td class="thead">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="100%" align="$stylevar[left]" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td class="thead" width="175" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
<td class="thead" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
<td class="thead" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
<td class="thead" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
</if>
</tr>
</tbody>

Hovewer even if you assign exact width, browsers might not render table exactly as you instructed because some content might force browser to expand certain rows.

Hi CA,

Thank you very much for this style, I have used your styles on PHPBB. I recently changed over to vBulletin and have installed the style however when a user attempts to register they receive a 404 error page. Registration works fine with the vBulletin default page.

vBulletin support suggested that I ask you for advice. Can you help me? I am sure that there is a simple explanation however it eludes me.

Thank you.

Carl

Cheers!:)

Carl

Maybe you have some hack installed and forgot to adjust this style's template files for that hack?

CyberAlien has been around for ages in the phpBB skinning arena and is well respected for his quality work. So I'd expect nothing less than an exellent skin from him that's well coded.

Nice skin, and I'm glad to see your now doing vBulletin skins.

I guess I'm really new to this because I don't understand the instructions. I have imported the upload directory into my forum directory. And also moved the fluid.xml file there. I'm browsed to the location of the xml file, but it says:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

And if i try to add the product using the import product feature it says:

Invalid File Specified :confused:

Any, more in depth instructions on how to get this in, would be much appriciated!

CyberAlien
01-15-2007, 05:34 PM
You should upload xml file via browser, not upload it with images. In control panel in "styles & templates" select "download/upload styles", in field "EITHER upload the XML file from your computer" put that xml file from your computer, then click "Import"

adnedarn
01-15-2007, 05:42 PM
I tried that and got:

Invalid File Specified

CyberAlien
01-15-2007, 05:44 PM
Try again. Maybe your browser or some tools you use messed up file. Redownload and unpack archive again to make sure you have correct files.

adnedarn
01-15-2007, 05:45 PM
Okay. also, is this going to over write my original stuff?

CyberAlien
01-15-2007, 05:48 PM
No, if you keep option "Merge Into Style" set to "create new style" (that's default value)

adnedarn
01-15-2007, 05:49 PM
Great! Thanks for the quick reply :-)

adnedarn
01-15-2007, 06:03 PM
All of the stuff I've changed to the orignal template are supposed to be gone? or is that something I did wrong again? IE: advertisements not showing. Thanks

CyberAlien
01-15-2007, 06:07 PM
No, when installing new template it doesn't affect previously installed templates or default template.

edit: ...unless you managed to install new template over old one.

adnedarn
01-15-2007, 06:12 PM
No, the original one is still fine. But the new one doesn't show the stuff that I've applied to my original. Is that correct?
Edit: also, I guess I put the upload folder in the wrong place cause I don't see the images in the new style. I uploaded it directly to the forum directory. Is that correct?

CyberAlien
01-15-2007, 06:15 PM
Yes, that's correct. When you edit any template files for some hack, you should edit template files for all styles, including ones you install after installing that hack.

Images should be in images/ca_evo/, just like in directory structure in zip file (I assume you did unpack zip file with directory structure, not just dumped all files in one directory)

adnedarn
01-15-2007, 06:17 PM
Oh, I thought I read that when you edit a parent style, that would edit lower styles. So I thought that would apply to this since it was a child style.
I uploaded the whole upload folder as I unpacked it to my forum directory. I'll fix that.

Edit: okay I got the images working. I'll see about reapplying the other hacks and such. To this one too... Thanks.

adnedarn
01-15-2007, 06:34 PM
Maybe this isn't what I'm looking for? My members just want to be able to choose different colors. Is there something like that somewhere that would use all the changes to the original template that i've made? I guess this changes much much more than the skin (which is very cool! but I don't have the time to recreate those changes)
Thanks again, very much.

CyberAlien
01-15-2007, 10:00 PM
Oh, I thought I read that when you edit a parent style, that would edit lower styles. So I thought that would apply to this since it was a child style.
Yes, if child styles have the same template file. Hovewer in this style almost all template files are modified to have rounded corners in tables, so you'll need to change this template same way as you did default style.

Cool, I've got it in and running. Everything looks good except for when I added a mod to move signatures down to the bottom of the post. Here is what that mod had me install... Can you please correct it to still do the same thing, but to maintain the look you've provided? This is in In postbit_legacy, thanks so much!!

Okay, members pointed something out, is it correct to have this floating gray color seperating the posts and signature line?

Also, the width of the last 2 colums (thread count and post count) are different widths under different catagories. See the index page at www.terraforums.com

When modifying that template file I copied part of code from your default postbit template and that's where line came from. To fix it replace this: <!-- sig -->
<hr size="1" style="color:$stylevar[tborder_bgcolor]" />
<div valign="bottom">
$post[signature]
</div>
<!-- / sig -->
with this: <!-- sig -->
<div valign="bottom">
$post[signature]
</div>
<!-- / sig -->

Columns on index don't have fixed width. To change it open template forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost, find this code: <tr align="center">
<td class="thead">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="100%" align="$stylevar[left]" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td class="thead" width="175" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>

<td class="thead" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">

and assign fixed width to last 4 table cells

I have looked at, read, and compared your previous post to my current template, it is exactly the same. I'm sorry, I don't understand how to add in a fixed width.

also, on the other issue... the line we want. I'm talking about the change of gray color in the post area itself. It seems it is white under and around the text of a post, then it turns gray where the post text ends.

nachofrades

Try changing other table cells. For example, change previous table cell from 100% to some fixed value.

I too tried assigning fixed width to the 4 tables (by adding width="175" to them??) and didn't notice it any better. And have no idea where to start with the white / gray difference in the posts.

CyberAlien.
I am extremly new to vbulletin and so are some of your fans.
This might sound stupid to some of the established webmasters but could you write a step by step installation guide. I really love the green skin but the lack of guide is denying me the joy of having this skin.
If you allready know how to ride a bicycle the guy who is still learnning may look stupid.

yago, I was the same way when I installed this skin. But it was SUPER easy without the adding of other mods/hacks. All you need to do, is download the file, unzip it, upload the "ca_evo_green" folder (in the upload > images folder of your download) into your forum's "image" folder. Then in your admin control panel, go to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload Styles > then under Import Style XML File browse to the location of the xml file (just inside the ca_evo_green folder) make sure "create new style" is clicked unless you want this to overwrite your default, name the skin (i used ca_evo_green just to be easy) parent style should most likely be your default.. then display order 1 to be first 2 to be second etc... Then click import, and you're done. go to the bottom of any page,(drop down on the bottom left side) and change the skin you want to use. You should be done! Remember, any editing you did previously to templates, and in the future, you will need to do to both skins.. That's where I ran into some problems... But CyberAlen helped me through them!

Style might not work with RTL at all.

yThen in your admin control panel, go to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload Styles > then under Import Style XML File browse to the location of the xml file (just inside the ca_evo_green folder) make sure "create new style" is clicked unless you want this to overwrite your default, name the skin (i used ca_evo_green just to be easy) parent style should most likely be your default..
No need to put name there. Its an optional field if you want to rename style while installing it.

That for the instructions. That helped a great lot. However I still have a couple of questions.
1. How do you make the evo-green your defualt template. I dont want to delete the origian vb style incase I want to revert in future but I do not want users to have a choice of template. I want them to use the evo-green alone.
2. I have GARS also installed and this bottons are not displaying

1) admin control panel > vBulletin Options > Style & Language Settings > Default Style
to set the default.

Then if you do not want users to have the option to change it to the default blue one, you need to admin control panel > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > on the default style drop down, select "edit settings" and put user selectable to no.

I'm sorry, I don't know what GARS is... But if it is something that you installed to the other style. You will need to reinstall it to the new style.

GARS is thevbgeek short for Geek Articles and Review System

So the old buttons are showing up for that? I don't know if it is the correct answer. But what I would do (have done for another mod) is right click those images that are still the old ones, and see where they are stored on your server and the names of them. Then find the correct images that are supposed to be there with the new skin. Save an extra set of them to your computer, with the same name as the ones you want to replace. Then upload them to overlap the "wrong" images.

Yago
01-22-2007, 01:56 AM
I see what you mean. That will solve the image problem. However I have Photopost installed in the forum now their is no link to it anymore. I noticed you asked this question before but it did not seam to be answered.
Honestly as cool as this style may be, I really do like the original hassel free vb defualt skin. All I trully want to do is to change the colors a bit so say replace all the blue to say green. The trouble of custom skin may not be the best route for me now. I have 15 sites to manage and 5 of them are vb based. That is a whole lot of work.
Can this be done. That is all I really want to do. Simply change the colors in the original vb defult.

adnedarn
01-22-2007, 02:07 AM
Actually, my problem was, I installed the "image" file up to the image location on the server... It was totally my mistake (partly, the other part was lack of detailed instructions... That's why I jumped in and provided that to you ;-) ) So, I was 1 level too high in the folder. Once I got the ca_evo_green folder dropped into the image folder, it was perfect.

Yago
01-22-2007, 02:11 AM
Oh I do not have anymore image problems. I agree with you. Your instructions solved the problem but I do not want to have to reinstall photopost and redo all the stuff I had on the other style such as the Gender postit and welcome headers. This whole thing started because I just want the forum to match the logo which incidentaly is the green the national color of the country.

That's because different forums have different content, and browser automatically resizes those columns to correctly fit content.

You can try to adjust it by setting width to columns in forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost template. See posts on two previous pages of this thread.

I was wondering whether anybody could help me? I love the green version of this skin and im currently using it as my default skin on my forum, but I was hopefully going to try and make an alteration, if its at all possible.

Create a slice for button, then use "save for web" so photoshop would save slices in different files.

Great Style. I am using it as my default now. I've never edited a style before, how do I make it so all the user data is on the left hand side. Like the username, post count, user title. Like how http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459186 does it.

What templates would I need to edit and would a lot of changes need to be made?

You do not need to edit your templates to get this. I had this problem awhile back.

Goto your admin panel > Vbulletin Options > Style & Language Settings. Then scroll down to 'Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template' & Click Yes.

OK I think I may have a bug with the Drop Down menus on http://community.cellular-blowout.com

When you log in the DHTML drop down menus appear. The Quicklinks and others only work some of the time. The drop down shows but the links aren't clickable and when I try to click them I get a JS error in IE and nothing happens in Firefox.

In IE, after I get the error, if I click on a forum thread link while still on the same page I got the error on the link takes me to the "who posted" page instead of to the thread itself.

Can someone take a look and see if they can duplicate these errors and maybe a solution?

Thanks

We'll there is definitely some incompatibility directly related to the theme. I set it so users can select between the default template and the evo template and there are none of these issues when I use the default template. It is only there with the evo template.

There has to be some conflict going on somewhere.

I even tried disabling all plugins the the issue persists.

You seems to be using some kind of SEO mod and you modified header template of default style to link to js files via full urls instead of relative urls. Try to do those changes to CA Evo's header template.

Me nether. I've compared all code in your default template and CA Evo installation and it seems to be almost the same.

Few suggestions:
1. Try disabling all hacks.
2. Try removing javascript in footer template. Maybe it causes conflict with one of hacks.

What do you mean? Code is valid. If it doesn't validate in w3.org validator it doesn't mean code is wrong. Because of browser problems sometimes invalid code is required to make it work in some particular browser (mostly IE, sometimes Firefox).

Code is not semantically correct because of vBulletin structure. Try making a tableless template that would look like this template, work properly in threaded and hybrid modes, display correctly in all 4 major browsers and being compatible with most vbulletin hacks.

Also I am having a problem with vbadvanced with the navbar on the CMS side. I cant seem to get the links to work correctly, I have changed them in the vbadvanced settings. When i tried to change them in the header postbit it worked on the CMS side, but then it borked the forum side navigation links.

i too had this problem, i had to go and edit them in Style Manager > All Style Options (under Edit Fonts/Colours), but the logo and the login still dont work as i cant find these to edit, all the links are set to /blah.php instead of on mine /forums/blah.php

For login form search for this in "header" template: <form action="login.php?do=login"
If logo doesn't work, you can hardcode image url in "header" template. Replace image url in this code: <img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" height="92" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" />

i changed my links to be www.mysite.co.uk/forums/index.php rather than just adding the /forums/index.php ..the ones i can find to edit work just fine lol

Would it be possible to have this style with black bits instead of the blue/green/purple? This skin would be perfect it this was possible.

Hi CyberAlien,

I still can't get my right column bar to be displayed on all pages.

Right now, it's only displaying on the forumhome only. I tried moving the table to navbar and the rest of the table to footer... but the alignment went haywire.

appreciate if you can guide me thru this.

Thanks buddy.

CyberAlien

If you are moving it to navbar/footer, make sure you put it in navbar before $spacer_open and in footer after $spacer_close

milsirhc

hmm. i don't see a $spacer_open in navbar template

CyberAlien

Then add it like this:$spacer_close
put here your code
$spacer_open

Hi CyberAlien,
I have a problem and am new to vBulletin. I downloaded your style first above all the rest because I like yours the most.
But the logo will not appear. My logo is in misc/logo.gif and the other styles seem to work well so it's something with your style that doesn't work.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a second time, still no good. The logo doesn't show up. Can you explain very carefully what I should do. By the way, I am not good with coding or anything and am an ubernoob at technology. Please be patient with me, I'm learning all this. Try to explain as if to a child because really I have no idea about this stuff.

Thank you.

You uploaded images to wrong directory.
http://www.scripturediscussions.com/images/ca_evo/ - file not found. images should be in that directory.

Thank you, I put all the ca folder inside the images folder and it came up.
Another dumb question for you, what is the hex color for the background of the header area. I Think I used the transparency layer that you supplied but I must have done something wrong because it looks lighter.
What is that color behind the header? Please look at the site to see the problem.
Thank you.

CyberAlien

Its a gradient image, not a static color.
