Hi again,

I've tried my best to build a [hide] hack that will fit to to
the wonderful POST THANK YOU HACK

but for sure you can use it without, then it'll work if user replies to a post with hidden content ;)

You can coose in acp to show hidden content to admins mods or users of a certain usergroup (if you have useradmins or something) too.

It will show up some hint that will let your users know what to do (thank, answer, or even nothing)
by now with some small text, soon with a set of images ;)

BUT
my english is way off what I want it to be, so please go ahead and edit the language file to your needs

So, here's what you've all been waiting for *grin*
Tha ajaxified version of my hide hack.

BUT, this is rather bruteforcing ajax, so be warned :D
First: you could fully disable ajax for this script in ACP!
Now how it goes, it checks the length of pagecontent every three seconds (usersides, no worries about serverload here), and if it finds some new "content" like a filled thanks-box or a new post it calls all the posts that have hidden content (of this page only of course) and tries to refill the postbits,
this causes some sql-queries, almost as much as to totally reload the page itself.
AS soon as I find a more elegant method I will update again.
Nothing else was changed though since 2.6, only modified in handling the ajax-request.
If you encounter any problems with the ajax of this script, just deactivate,
no javascript at all then will be loaded from this script, and you'll have a "normal" version in hands.
(size is due to an pic-install-help-image ;))

Gear, I've read some thousand lines of code of various hacks and "original" phps, getting me some ideas, possible hooks, workarounds and array-calls, I cannot say that you wont find a line in this code that isn't in any other hack or php.

I was under the impression thank you hack was not needed in order for this hack to work. I recieved a database error:


Invalid SQL:
SELECT userid FROM post_thanks WHERE postid='165' AND userid='1';

Uploaded all the files, and edited the correct files...

ronak, Go to ACP -> own vb codes, edit the hide-tag and replace the line from the replacement-box with {param}
click save and you're done :D

greek, yes it's in german if you don't install the english-language file.
to disble you may disable the hack in the product-management completely or in it's vb options settingsgroup

i'm a bit curious about you language settings, that you are unable to import the langfile to the existing (let's say english) phrase-set
If you really do not have that small dropdownbox in the Phrasemanagement
please go ahead and open both files (the lang.xml and the product.xml) with any texteditor and just copy the phrases from the lang.xml into the product.xml replacing the existing ones (you will recognize them for sure!)
see in attachement ;) (import and OVERWRITE)

so if you want to get rid of hidden content in the latesttopics module, you will have to take care on your $thread['preview'] in there.
if you find a place where to put something like

Ronak, well, you mean those 21pix editor-buttons, don't you?
I don't have one by myself, I hate wysiwyg and never had used any of those buttons at all (strong believer in hand-bbcode-tagging ;)) but feel free to set one, just go and edit the settings in OWN VB CODES in acp, you will find where to set the button i'm sure :D

ociosos, then it would be a better idea to set the refreshscript on the hiddenimage, I think.
I may catch a button but I surely wont edit any buttons from other hacks or vb itself :D

Oh and Ronak again (uh how long I've been away??),
well, what improvements.. let me think:
mainly this script now catches the settings of the post thank you hack and
show all hidden content of a thread if post_thanks_button is in firstpost only,
if every posts has a thanks button it only shows the hidden content of the post you thanked for. (with kind permission of Abe1)
I killed one useless sql query (but added two others ;))
it also now shows up the [hidden not quoteable] message lolo suggested.
(editable in andreas' hint 2 at this time, no vbphrase, i'll fix that)
multiple-hide per post possible now
and some very minor changes I really can't even remeber :D

lolo?, yes, I try to reduce to a max of ONE sql query per post ,tag and call (worst case now is two, best case none), but I need too much lines for that by now.. must reduce ;)

Now, let's get to the Ajax Part you're all waiting for :
I've done a small adaption of this hack (not nearly as exact) working with an ajax-button of it's own, but i can tell you this isn't fun at all;
I'm not quite good in writing javascripts, so I have to take one small step after another.
What I see so far is that if I do a ajax-version of this hack, I will have to build a jscript for each hidden-fieldset and again two(or more) sql-querys to show them up;
to be honest: I don't like that thought :(
Maybe it's on me and I only have to fix some errors, I don't know by now.

Will let you know when ever I make some improvements.

Hi Ronak, I'm not very good in iconifying.. but if you want, use the one below.

So, having you updated to the ajax issue:

I've build up a javascript that's able to read even multiple posts and spits them to predefined containers,
because ajax is only able to send and get ONLY ONE at a time, this really is nothing you really want, multiple sql querys, multiple php-calls, multiple TimeOutCalls (to fetch correct state) and extremly blown up script itself. (at this time twice as large as last version and growing)

So, right now I try to build an acp-option to activate this only if you know
what you are doing to your server with that, and this means loss of performance and of course to reduce sql queries to the absolute minimum.
And if possible to reduce the script itself to get smaller to save every ressource you (and I) have!
If there is one important thing, then it's performance ;)

Now I have to find out what to optimize, what to drop, what to tweak again and of course all the debbuging that's possible :D

BUT:
Still I am unable to promise a working ajax-version of this one,
but I will post what I've done as soon as I surrender or succeed ;)

Cant get this to work. I reuploaded the product.xml in english. I uploaded the images to my forum/images. I go to phrase manage to import this as you stated: import via acp phrasemanager DONOT create new language

and put it in (own vb codes -> edit [hide] and there you'll see)

I'm trying to ajaxify this thing so that no reload is necessary.
but in fact even this is not a problem but just a missing ajax-ability...

Greek, if you have installed the english xml you don't have to install a language set at all (not if you don't want to have the images shown but the simple textstrings)

the others (bigger and blue) are shown by the language set (marked as img_) you have problems to install :D

So if you want to have the small ones, install the post_thank_you hack,

same thing for newthread/newreply; you know what you're intending to hide whilst typing I guess, and because of the unfamous bunch of messie code wysiwyg produces once in a while it's easier to just not parse hide in any editor :D

this sql query seems to be from the -has posted- if condition that has to be in three plugins, but why you cannot access the post-table is a book of seven seals right now.
Maybe the database layout was changed too in 3.6.3 but I don't know.

Well do me a favour and go to your (service or something) ->table repair option in acp (no need to repair anything, just take a look what the table is called actually) there you will find all names of tables in your database.

I've checked the javascript multiple times misskalunji,
before releasing this version and after you said you've got errors to handle...
well, on my system tested (nowhere else) and i can't find any error not even any "nonworking" condition but to have an disabled ajax in the acp.
Well, please check as described:
activate ajax for your board in acp and activate ajax for this hack too
then find any hidden content that you CANNOT see by default (if you're an administrator or mod or hack is disabled in that forum or something)
to check wait for the page loaded completely (even better wait some seconds more ;))
then reply to the thread or click the thanks button.
(you will have to wait then for servers reply to that request, first hidden content is updated first then second (if visible) and so on.)
maybe this will take upto another five seconds (if you have large posts to be updated)
If you still don't see any hidden content without page reload, this javascript wont work with your javascript-engine installed (please let me know which one that is)
Or: you don't have javascripts enabled, but then you will have no ajax throughout the vbulletin page...

well, in the unaltered database of vb 3.6.3 there has to be the column post.visible , that's the item that handles softdeleted posts (userdeleted but visible to mods and admins)
I cannot say where the problem comes from, maybe another hack that removes or alters this column (nerver heard of such, but that doesn't mean anything)

Dermio had/has almost the same problem a page ago, so I verified the existance of this table and column.
Same friend of mine (who gave me the sql-layout) installed this hack in his very clean 3.6.3 testboard and it worked without any errors.
Again, I have to say sorry, but I have no idea what's causing your problems :(

no, when i hide the content i can't see the preview, and when i do not hide, i can't see the preview neither :S
so.. the problem is when the hack is enabled, i can't see the preview, but when i disable your hack, i can see it

well, in the unaltered database of vb 3.6.3 there has to be the column post.visible , that's the item that handles softdeleted posts (userdeleted but visible to mods and admins)
I cannot say where the problem comes from, maybe another hack that removes or alters this column (nerver heard of such, but that doesn't mean anything)

Dermio had/has almost the same problem a page ago, so I verified the existance of this table and column.
Same friend of mine (who gave me the sql-layout) installed this hack in his very clean 3.6.3 testboard and it worked without any errors.
Again, I have to say sorry, but I have no idea what's causing your problems :(

Open the xml file with an appropate Editor (notepad++ ultraedit or even a simple wordpad) something with numbered lines best.
Edit Line 173 : find post.visible replace with visible
same in line 272 and 341.
save and try again.

But it's altered (only hidden content replaced by "This post contains hidden content") so there should be something in this box though.

ga2000gt, go to plugin management in your acp, there find the plugin Andreas hint 3 click on edit and see the executionorder 126
go back and edit the plugin Improved Thread Preview 1.5 change it's executionorder to something higher than 126, or change the executionorder of "Andreas hint 3" to let's say 4 :D
If this still wont help, you can deactivate this plugin alone to see your threadpreview again, but keep in mind:
then you will have all hidden content in the preview.

Im pretty convinced that is the problem I did it once then I got pms that the code was gone. I went clicked edit the code was their but it was not showing until I clicked save. Just to be sure I went I did post cache again and saw the same thing happen. Did it a third time which was today and the same thing happen. So yes its affecting this hack... The easiest way to show you if you think Im lying is to come on my forum and Ill do the post cache while you are their. You can see the code before I do it and I after I do it....

I just don't understand your problem not even yet..

You'd clerared postcache and what code was gone then? only the parsing from the hide tag (what seems to be somewhat very unusual because it is not stored in postparsed table) or all the other html of all other tags and only hide tags are parsed or is none of the text parsed at all and all bbcodes are simply shown as such?
for example, you'd best take a screenshot (simply push the print-button on your keyboard and then paste to any imageeditor)

And I still don't understand why you think this relys on my hack and not on any other or any setting you've made in vb itself, or even a bug or something.
I've tried to reproduce your error and cleared my postcache, and as soon as i reload my page all bbcodes are perfectly show up in full html incl. the hide-hack. (reload.. not resave) :(
Do me a favour and fully uninstall (not only disable) my hide hack and clear postcache again to see what's happening, and if there is any difference then (well except unparsed hide-tags of course) let me know.
Otherwise please try the same with every installed hack, to see what hack is causing this error and ask the one who is responsible.
If you have uninstalled every hack and still have this error, please ask at vbulletin.com ;)

Well you've ENABLED the "thank you" option, that's why the hacks asks for a non existing table in the database.

you will be shown 13 Phrases in GLOBAL phrases.
these are shown up your forum (all others are from the admin control panel )
edit the ones called sid_hide_img_xxx to edit the text (or images) shown up in showthread.php
or the ones named sid_hide_txt_xxx to edit the phrases shown up in printthread.php.

just rightclick and download it.
then put in in your images/editor folder and you can add it by simply editing the custom bbCode that you'll find in ACP.
(You'll see yourself if you're there ;))

About the images:
If you did what I told you to, you will have to see the images.
But let me make it easy:
Checklist
1) open ftp-client and browse your forum-root then open images-folder
check if there are the images en_hide_xxx.gif (there will have to be four of them)
--if not UPLOAD images from the english folder of the zip to this directory

2) open your admin control center and got to phrasemanger.
search for phrases containing sid_hide_img in the phrasename
(also there will have to be four of them)
check if you have an html imagetag in the phrase-content <img src="images/en_hide_xxx.gif ...
--if not IMPORT the xml you'll find in post#159 via importphrases as mentioned above

Now reload any thread containing a hide-tagged post (it must be hidden to you, or you'll never see any image for sure)
If it is not hidden:
edit settings of hide tag in acp -> vb-options
deactivate : show to mods, show to admins, show to usergroup, show thanked, show posted
go and check thread again.
revert hide - settings again

the ajax function uses exactly the same querys the initial showthread-call does.
So if you have a db error it has to be there from the beginning and not in the middle of somewhere
Please check that with deactivated hide-hack options show to admin, show to mod, show to usergroup and
then twice one with option set to hide on reply (only) and again with hide on thank (only) and then let me know which of this two variants will cause the error.
(are you sure you have the thank-you-hack installed?)

To make sure this hack works, you fully have to uninstall all other hide-hacks before, otherwise it'll surely cause errors.
But I'm pretty sure that you didn't install this hack properly,
so let us do it step by step:
1) first, go to acp -> Product Management -> import new product
(product, not plugin or language!!)
select "ajax-product-sids_hide_v0.3.5-vborg-en.xml", check the radiobutton "Allow Overwrite" (yes) and click on import
(you should not see any SQL-Error or it failed, make sure you uninstalled all previous versions of this hack, and all hacks parsing [hide] tag first, then try again)

2) Now upload the images marked as en_hide_<something>.gif into your root/images/ folder via ftp

3) Import the "hide_bbcode-images-english.xml" via Languages & Phrases -> "Download/Upload Languages" make sure to mark
"Overwrite Language" -> "english // or whatever from the dropdown"
AND
"Ignore Language Version" (yes)

** if you do not have any language in the dropdown (never heard of that though) edit the phrases manually:
Search in Phrases: "sid_hide_img" search in "Phrase Variable Name Only"
and edit as descrpted below:

4) Now check your settings in "vBulletin Options" -> "Posts: vB Code [hide]"

If you encounter any error within the forums, let me know the exact error to give me a chance to let you know what to do.
Most it's because you've not installed the post_thank_you hack (see first post for link) and checked the "Choose YES to unhide hidden content to users who clicked 'Thank You'" what then will cause a invalid sql query for the post_thanks table (that's missing for sure) just set this option to "No" to get rid of that error (or, install the hack mentioned ;) )
For any other error, I need some details :D

Thank you so much for this hack, I have been trying to modify an old hide hack to get it to work like yours with out a lot of success.

I had the old buttons from my last hide hack installed so I got the

Invalid SQL:
INSERT INTO bbcode(bbcodeid, bbcodetag,.....

error when I first tried to install, I deleted the bbcode section from your file and then it installed fine.

I don't have the thank you button hack installed, I don't think I need that, very happy just the way it is now.

I navigate to some other thread, and when I return I see the picture again with the Hidden content please press the Thank you button…

that's what the post_thanks_already phrase is made for ;)
Are you sure you have the correct post_thanks hack installed?
The hack can only check settings and thanks given with the post_thanks_hack mentioned in first post.
(which is the best "thank you" Hack around imho ;))

If you have any other thank you hack, let me know which one, maybe I can help you out,
but the best way (in my opinion) is to use the thank you hack from Abe1

Yes I have the correct, and the latest version of the post thank-you hack (5.3) from Abe1.
In fact I have used it for quite a while before I installed your hide hack and I had no problem with it what so ever.
The strangest part is that after clicking the Thanks button, it disappears (the thanks button) so I have no idea what could be the problem.
Also as I mentioned in my previous post the other issue is that after navigating to another thread and returning where I previously pressed the thanks button the content is hidden again.

well, if set to yes you will surely get the popup (if javascript isn't disabled)

But the hack itself sets the options correctly, so there's no need to say that you have to alter the settings.

I don't know what changed yours, but I think it was you, otherwise you'd have found other entries changed, too.

(all hack functions are identical)
So, it has to be some other hack that's interfering.

please try the following:
go to plugin manager and
let me know which installed hacks use this hook:
postbit_display_complete

then edit this plugin of my hack
fetch hide tag
(same hook as mentioned above)
and change the executionOrder.
first, to 6 and if that doesn't help to something higher then the highest executionorder you can find in pluginmanager
(sorry you have to click on edit to see executionOrdner)

I'm sorry, uninstalled all my hack, and installed all the latest versions of the ones you mentioned "above"... No Way to reproduce your boards behaviour!
I checked all imaginable settings in all different hacks, cached as much as I could, but I could not find any setting, that would lead to this error.
You're not the only one out there, so it has to be a bug somewhere,
I've seen it with my own eyes (browsers), but I simply cannot find or reproduce where it stuck.

The only thing that would make a sense would be a missing userid
so that my last triggerif(!$bbuserinfo[userid]){
$hide_read = false;
}
would refuse to showup hidden content.
You could give that a try by replacing that (in plugin: "choose wether or not to show in printable version") with
if(!$bbuserinfo[userid]){
$post['message'] =$post['message'].'..:H:..';
//$hide_read = false;
}

And if you find ..:H:.. at the very end of a post containing hidden content in printthread.php let me know.

One thing I discovered looking at your forum is that the hide tag isn't parsed correctly (see attached image: mine vs yours)
to fix that go to acp "custom vB Codes" and edit {param} to <i>{param}</i> click save, edit back and save again.
Now it should look like mine again ;)

And, I can see all hidden content at your board without any thanks or reply; is that because of the same error, or is it just an emergency "let's show it all as long as it hides too often"?

Automatically parse links in text is disabled in my board.......i removed it a long time ago...maybe that was the reason??

i made a small detour to the hack....some fine adjustments to bypass the problem temporary

i enabled see the hidden content for all user member groups...except the newly registered......when they reach certain postcount..they dont have to thank to see the hidden content

this way only new members have to click the thankyou..

check it now...i changed the user i gave you to newly registered........

ok now back to the hack

i added the code ...and tested it..same thing...and i removed it...also same thing.....

should I bring.the Automatically parse links in text back and check it out.....??:confused:

just an update

i installed a clean board in my laptop..and your hack works more than perfect.........

i imported board setting from that new board to the clone board......and nothing happened...same bug....on refresh...everything is closed again

that means it is something related to the settings.......

plus i dont think it is related to any other hack...since all other hacks and plugins are disabled......

to tell you the truth......i dont have a clue.........

but having a fieldset or anything that keeps you (as an mod or admin) keep track on what's hidden and what's not to a user is somewhat important (at least it is most of the times ;))
But that only removes the fieldset for hidden images, parsed tags-fieldset is hardcoded to the plugins ;)

database errors only occur if you have not uninstalled the hack correctly or installed another [hide]hack.
Open up "Eigene vB Codes" and delete the hide-tag entry (completely)
then uninstall my hide hack and install it again, make sure to click the "?berschreiben" Radiobutton :D

I can't imagine any templatecode messing the php code up ;)
Please make sure, that you have the original vB showthread.php uploaded (in ascii mode) also, php v4 is required

global $vbulletin, $vboptions, $bbuserinfo, $db, $threadid, $hide_call, $postid;
replace by

the $thank array should be useable without the globaliser ($thank comes from the post_thanks hack in postbit_display_start),

Well to use images, you may only edit the phrases marked to contain an image (sid_hide_img_xxx) nothing else!
If you are sure to fully remove all fieldsets,
find strings like this:

and only keep the \\1 or replace by anything you like (two occurances),
but be sure on one thing: I will not give support if you fail, or mess up something, you have to know what you're doing.

you have to keep your post_thanks hack, this hack does NOT contain any copy of Abe1s Hack.
In admincp you'll find a new entry: "Posts: vB Code [hide]" in the vBulletin Options scroll-list that's where you setup the [hide]-hack :D
post_thanks-hack has it's own entry ;)

well the code for printthread is slightly different (because there is no post_thanks in printthread) so that codes uses an extra query instead of the array delivered by post_thanks_hack.
That's why I thought it has to be the $thank array....
All other lines are logically identical.
