vBi-Gallery for vB 3.6.X

This is the 3.6.X-Version of my vBi-Gallery for vBulletin.

It's an update to this hack:

This gallery-system integrates completly into vB, because it's a modification of the forum itself and uses the attachment-system of vb.

Therefore, it's neccessary to be sure, that the attachment-system is working and it's possible to create thumbs. Otherwise, the gallery won't work.

Btw, I want to thank all the people here, which are using this gallery.

Hello,

Basically I like the display of the gallery on the forumhome (although I may need to do some template fixes as the attachements come all out of shape).

However, I dont want a forum to turn into a gallery. I just want the gallery to list attachments from a certain forum on the forumhome.

So lets say I have a forum called XYZ. Any pictures attached in XYZ would simply be displayed as a gallery in forumhome without making the entire forum into a gallery style.

To change the width of the box, simply edit the template gallery_postbit. Search for:

And replace 350 with 99%. That's all.

The postion of the reply-button is as it is supposed. It's the normal reply-button under the thread. Just insert a test-answer, and you'll see.

Just a couple of little questions
The header cell on the gallery display in forumhome says
Galerie
Latest Pictures in the gallery:

Great we all know what it is but how do I change the word Galerie to Gallery?

Also when viewing a picture the information box, posted by etc the header on this says Informationen. How do I change that to Information.

I have searched for the words in the templates but I can't find them so assume it needs changing somewhere else.

Just looked at your demo site www.sf-galerie.net
and I see that the gallery sub forums have custom graphics instead of the usual icons.
Am I right in thinking that this is done with the Gallery setting at the bottom of the forum settings?
ie> use gallery thumbnails yes/no
which graphic to use? ............

Is there anything else that needs to be done to do this?

You're right, it works with this technique. It isn't implemented complety yet, there are some routines missing (my sf-galerie.net is my testing place...).

This will come in the next version (release on sunday i think).

I've unintalled version 1.23 and reinstalled version 1.30 but the admincp still shows the version as 1.23.

Also, I'm running vBulletin 3.6.2 and before I upgraded to 1.30, I was able to see the pictures in the forumhome but not in the Gallery. Now, it's opposite. I can't see the pictures in the forumhome but the pictures show up in the Gallery.

Any idea?

Did you make the changes on the templates for forumhome? Without them, no pictures can be displayed on forumhome.

Yes, I did make the changes to the forum home. The title shows up (Latest or Random, depending on the option from vBulletin option -> Gallery) just not the pictures.

The problem with the template-width can be depending on the fix width, i'm not sure. I will look after this problem tonight.

i really hope u can help with my template issues as thats the main problem, i also have that missing phrase problem too.

Its not the fixed width either just so u know, i have a liquid version of the same style and its messed up too, u can go to my site and switch the style to see for yourself.

I have the GD Library installed and it works viewing thumbnails in my portal but not in my gallery. I double checked everything but still those RED X's appear.

My User Groups / Permissions have the permissions required to download attachments. Also my GD shows a thumb image in the option/images section, but nothing within forum for the picture within the gallery.

Un register users cannot see images not on forum home or inthe gallery it self, once logged in you can see fine.

I use to use the 3.5 version of this hack and wanted to upgrade with my boards upgrade.

I imported the new product overwriting my old one. Added the changes listed in the install and now my boards keep getting this error:

Try reinstalling the hack again. Could help. It seems, that the alterings of the database haven't been done. Do you also have the right to run queries (set in the config.php)?

@Ninjamaster: Looks like the settings for the category and the gallery is wrong. Did you set "Act as a gallery" also for the category? This isn't needed. Only for the the forums, which will be the gallery.

@Hades: I don't have much freetime, as i have a job and a family also. The problem with the permissions. Give guests the permission to download attachments, this should help.

As soon as i get the time for it, i will update the FAQ on the first page.

If you get messages displaying that there missing columns in the SQL-Database try to reinstall the product (and overwrite the old version). Or check out for sure, that you have the rights to run queries.

Tried overwriting the product again, every other product I have installs/upgrades fine. But as soon as I enable the gallery again the boards totally break and all I get is:

By the way, the 3.5.4 Version of this Hack lists itself on the post as version 1.23. Where here on this thread you list the version as 1.30 for 3.6.2 vBulletin. But when I upgrade with the download here on this thread the product lists itself in the Product manager section as 1.23:

Nearly perfect thank you for the help. The only issue now is that on my forum home page, I see a header section at the top for Random Images from the gallery, but no images appear there. But the layout is showing correctly in the gallery forum as well as on the members profile pages. So for those you get my mightest thanks. Glad to be able to turn that much back on again.

Now I'm starting to feel bad about posting but maybe this is related to my other issue. I just went to my forum manager and tried to update the settings on my gallery forum. (I also tried updating any of our forums and the error is along the same lines).

Otherwise run the query in your admin-cp.

Be sure to set the the prefix for the table forum, if you have so. E.g. vb_forum

I added that in as it was missing and tried again, now it seems I'm missing another. This is leading me to believe that perhaps none of the sql queries were made. Yet I have a gallery set up on my site, it was there and seeming to run fine before this upgrade.

Happened to me since vb 3.5.5 and again on vb 3.6.2:

Make your gallery forum a category (No Posting). Answer No to Act as a gallery?, No to Gallery-Category? and No to Use Gallery-Thumbnails? Make a forum as a child of the Gallery category, answer Yes to Act as a gallery?, No to Gallery-Category? and Yes to Use Gallery-Thumbnails?

Works for me.

That's exactly what I had to do. It was ok with the old version on vb 3.5.5 but upgrading to this new version for vb 3.6.2 deletes those two tables!

Ive struggled with this script all weekend (difficult to understand/configure rather than any code problems) and think I know it pretty well now.

Looking at the XML and my DB, it only makes some very minor database updates (adding some extra columns/flags to the main forum table). Hence, I dont really see how this hack could down your mysql.

What error are you getting when you start mysql?

I also noticed that some new users that go on the board, the pics dont show up just an X, how could I make it so the pics will always show up on the gallery header. If not I would like to turven it off for non registered users and once they register the gallery and header all show up??

I've tried to hack this module and I found out the reason why I 'm not successed as follows:
a, In a successful case:
This forum was hacked successfully, the album display correctly so if you get the direct link of the picture like this

b, unsuccessful case:

I suppose that this error caused by my forum attachment system, but I dont know how to solve it.

You could create a forum for each of your users. Depends of course, how many users should have such a section and how many users are on your board.

the added bits are 'if (isset($forumid) == false)' so the thumbs aren't attempted to load on other pages than forumhome. (got a big speed-increase on the forums after doing this)

also added 'if ($vbulletin->options['show_random']==1)' and 'if ($vbulletin->options['show_latest']==1)' bits to get rid of redundant sqlqueries.

@Axl-Rose: This seems to be an php/apache-problem and shouldn't be a problem of the hack.

@Farmer: Please check, if your vb creates thumbnails for attachments. And be sure, that you didn't used linked pictures.

Then go to "Plugin manager" and you should find the template there.

I don't understand what you're saying. Anyway, I was letting the creator know incase he didn't already. My members reported it, I will fix it myself but was checking with the creator first incase he has it planned.

Disabling the plugin would disable the gallery, that's not what we want and it's only the gallery affected anyway.

It seems, the settings for the gallery are ignored. Try to check in the gallery-option if there is a number set for the amount of pictures shown on forumhome.

If everything is o.k., try to just reinstall it.

@buurman: I thought, i had already published the modifications for CMPS. Hmh, o.k., i'll look after it tonight.

It's not so hard to to make a random-picture-box and a latest-pictures-box for the CMPS.

Improve the layout on images when you click on a gallery, at the moment they are all placed above each other, it doesn't look that tidy. A blank line between each image would be nice just so that they are spaced out a bit, maybe create thumbnails instead of showing an enlarged image so that we can display several images together in one post and the user can then click on them to get the larger picture.

Just to let you know:

I've started coding a new version of the gallery, which won't use the attachment system any longer. Instead of it, it uploads the pictures to a directory on the server.

Therefore it was neccessary to write the whole code new. At the moment there is no demo-version or any screen-shots. As soon, as they are, i'll show you.

Any suggestions for this new gallery?

Great little hack, I must say Harald. I'd love the option to have people click on the picture from forumhome and it takes them to the actual picture post, instead of just the picture.

The only thing is....

Images smaller than 100x100 arent displayed in the post, but they are in the forumgallerie... mmhh, if you add a bigger file afterwards, then it does display the small file also.

Cant seem to find the solution.... anyone?

Im getting the CMPS portal block for this Gallery to work, but cant get it to work the way I want to.
This is the code for a random block:

(like 7 images in a row and same size of attachments)

If I want to have 4 images in a row, on the portal and 7 in the forum, what do I have to do?
Is there a way to make a new "adv_random_gallery" template and make it look in that template, like "$random_gallery2" so I can change the settings in that template.

Or I just wait till Harald finishes his new version of this great addon :) and then worry about it :)

Sorry for late reply. I'm busy on releasing the beta-version of the new vbi-Gallery 2.

For those "Red X".: Check all settings for attachments (and make sure, that the picture isn't linked via URL). Also, make sure, your vB can make thumbnails for attachments (maybe a graphic library isn't installed?).

Hopefully, i can release the first beta around christmas. Maybe this may be a better solution for you all.

The new version doesn't need a category and then a forum inside of it. You define a category, define the permissions (which usergroup can access the category and which one not?) and also set, which usergroup will be moderated, if they upload anything in this category. That's all.

This mod works great for me, but unfortunately only users logged in can see the pics. I tried all the options (visitors can download attachments) to have visitors see the pics, but no go. I guess I'll wait for the next release for that.

I'm not using the old gallery-system on this site any longer. So i decided to use another gallery-solution as long as vBi-Gallery 2 isn't ready.

Just wait for the version 2, the german Beta will be released tonight and i'm hardly working on the english version of it.

i've been having big problems with firefox and IE lately, firefox favorites are broke so the Favorites display but not in subfolders, IE is broke or something i dont know, anyway .. i just want to ask 1 question, can the gallery scan a folder and then resize+create thumbnails of the images and then delete processed images as the scan goes? I have over 2,500+ images and i need a gallery to display them, i can't add 1 by 1 to the gallery since there's also new images created each day, weeks..

Images are displayed fine on forumhome and in members pages. The problem is no thumbnails being displayed on the actual gallery. i have looked through every thread here and checked attachment permisssions, thumbnails etc.... any ideas on resolving this. im using vb 3.6.4

Did you also check the vbulletin-options for postings? There is also an attachment-setting (i think it was "Show Attachment Inline". Check if this is set to yes.

Sorry for no updates so far, but i'm working for the last weeks on the new version, which will be released soon (german users find a beta-version on vbulletinhacks-germany.org).

The BIG problem on the new version is, that all text is hardcoded atm, and therefore i can't release it (it's all in german).

I don't know what is wrong, but I don't have an upload button and when I attached something, it doesn't show up. These instructions are poor and so is the hack, IMO. Sorry, but I am installing this until all the words are in English (and spelled properly) and pieces aren't missing or broken. Nice idea, but needs more work. Thanks for your efforts.

You are right! I tried editing the forumdisplay in notepad but kept on getting parse errors. I then did a find and replace for the forumdisplay.php in dreamweaver and that done the job.

One thing i did notice is that the image not rated should be uploaded to directory forum/images/statusicon/ not forum/images/misc as stated on the instructions

You should also upload file not registered to the forum/images directory

Just installed this script on vB3.6.4. Installed easily and seems to be working like a charm . I left out the Gallery button code as I will integrate that later on in my menu structure (using aria chocolate+ by vbstyles). Only thing I'm not sure about is they way the gallery categories should work. What should switching it off and on do?

My members love this gallery but most would like to see the gallery in a CMPS box with one single random or rotating graphic.

I can create a new CMPS Module but what I don't kow how to do is remove the gallery random pics from the forumhome template and put it into the module.

Hi this is a nice mod, I have a couple of problems though, hope somebody can help.

I put in the code the gallery attachement so that it doesn't blow smaller images up, but now images are tiny. how do I make them bigger, without the images being blown? If that makes sense?

Also the new thred links aren't being replace by the upload button, how does one fix this?
