********Please do not use this modification unless you are VERY well educated on SEO and forum modification********
Zoints is a company that believes that forums are the killer application of the internet. We want to empower forum owners to take their community to the next level. Therefore, Zoints has been developing an extremely powerful vBulletin forum SEO and revenue enhancing solution for more than two years now. However, because we are focusing on our Forum Network (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=126669) and Thread Tagging System (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=127244), we have decided to release this SEO solution to the vBulletin community under the lgpl license. Zoints SEO is now open source and NOT supported by us. We hope that the vBulletin dev community comes together to take this already powerful solution and make it even better. Empower yourselves :cool:
Zoints SEO can be discussed here or http://network.zoints.com (again, we will not be providing official support).
Known bugs

Zoints SEO Explained
Zoints SEO has been in development for a couple of years now. It is an amalgamation of various modifications made to a Big-Board that helped it get to that status. This SEO modification was created with very large boards in mind but should help small forums too.
As you are about to find out, Zoints SEO is very poorly named. If we were going to use a descriptive title, it would be called, "Zoints Search Engine Optimization, Revenue Enhancement, and Lots O' More Members Joining". However, that doesn't quite have the ring that "Zoints SEO" does and our marketing department (which does not actually exist) won out. Prior to installing any SEO modification, you should educate yourself as much as possible regarding SEO. I say this because there are a lot changes you can make that will hurt you. But PLEASE be careful, the statistical probability that the person claiming to know about SEO actually knows a damn thing and isn't just spewing forth garbage they read on a message board is very low. God knows I am not an SEO expert, Zoints is NOT an SEO company, and 98% of the people who claim to be knowledgeable should be run away from very quickly. Two good sites to learn FACTS:
1. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/
2. Google Webmaster Guidelines (http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769)
The Features and Settings of Zoints SEO
After properly installing Zoints SEO, you will be presented with the following options in your admincp:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
As with any decent script, Zoints SEO can be turned on or off with a single click. Even better, each time you turn it on, an angel gets their wings.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
A 301 redirect is the proper way to redirect a user to a new url. If you change your urls from showthread.php?t=#### to something else and DON'T utilize a 301 redirect, then old links are going to end up going to a 404. That's very bad. Select yes here :)
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
Zoints SEO has three primary options for URL rewriting:
1. No URL rewriting
2. URL rewriting without mod_rewrite. Why use this? If you want to insert keywords in the url but don't have mod_rewrite available or don't want to expend the resources (using mod_rewrite is server intensive and slows page generation) then this is a viable solution.
3. The mod_rewrite everyone knows and prefers.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
A lot of people like to use the vBulletin archive as a sitemap. If you're going to do that, you might as well name is sitemap, right?
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
If you choose to utilize keywords in your URL, you have two choices of how to separate the words:
1. keyword-in-url.html
2. keyword_in_url.html
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
If you choose to utilize keywords in the url, then sometimes thread titles can be way too long. This option truncates the number of keywords in the url to however many you want.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
Stopwords are words that the search engines don't care about all that much. You can turn on the removal of stopwords you list with this option.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
This is a great picture. Any true SEO will agree that hippos are the cutest animals ever.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.jpg
If you add stopwords to the box below, they will not be listed in any urls. For example, if you have a thread title of "My dogs likes to walk" and "to" as a stopword, then the url would be /my-dog-likes-walk.html
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
This option allows you to set meta keywords on a forum by forum basis. Now, I am of the opinion that meta keywords are deprecated. If search engines are still taking them into account in their algorithms, then I weep for the state of internet technologies. Why did we include this? Because someone somewhere would scream and cry and claim they heard from their uncle's friend's grandma's cousin's daughter who built a high ranked geocities page that the reason it was ranked high was the meta keywords.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
This is the page that allows you to insert meta keywords on a forum by forum basis. That way if you have a forum about dogs, all the threads can have keywords about dogs. And if you have another forum about cats, all the keywords there can be about hippos because hippos are better than cats anyway.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
Zoints SEO also lets you set custom meta descriptions on a forum by forum basis, use the vBulletin default, OR populate the meta description with the first X words of a thread.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
If you choose to populate the meta description with the first X words of a thread, this option lets you choose how many.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
Should you decide to set the meta descriptions on a forum by forum basis, you will utilize this screen:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
Have you ever noticed that vBulletin has domain.com/forums and domain.com/forums/index.php? That's theoretically bad. That's bad because it dilutes your incoming links. Some people will link to domain.com/forums and others will link to domain.com/forums/index.php?. This option gets rid of the index.php so that you just have the clean url.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
As stated earlier, Zoints SEO was build with large forums in mind. Have you ever been on a large forum with 20,000 threads in a single subforum and getting to page 73 of 452 was an exercise in futility? Well, the search engines want to get there too so they can efficiently crawl your content. And they also want you to have less than 100 links per page. We therefore came up with this:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
What does the "all" option above add?
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
The "all" link makes life much easier for our friendly search engine bots to get to all of your content in an efficient manner while maintaining less than 100 links per page.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
As previously stated, Zoints is much more than just an SEO script. We all know about the very popular "welcome headers" hack that says, "Hi guest, welcome to hippotalk.com, the forum for those who think hippos are very cute. Register or we will poke you with a pointy stick". It's a great hack, but it's not good enough. To increase guest registration rates, you must speak to them. The feature below allows you to write custom guest messages on a forum by forum basis. In other words, if a guest is viewing a subforum on thread in a forum about dogs, you can say, "Hi guest, if you are interested in dogs, then register already!". If another guest is viewing your cat forum threads, they can see something like, "Hi there, why do you like cats? Register and lets talk about it."
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
The default guest message title:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
The default guest message:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
You can then set the guest messages on a forum by forum basis on this screen. This lets you target your messages and have more relevant content :cool:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
This is another trick of the trade. You know all those "no permission" messages people are forever getting? Now you can set them on a forum by forum basis too. This lets you write custom no message pages and direct bots to new areas of your site...
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
The default no permission messages:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
The screen that lets you set no permission messages on a forum by forum basis:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
If you want to use the archive as a sitemap, this option does that.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
The option below is one of those aimed at large forums. It is 100% impossible for large forums to have less than 100 links on their default archive pages. Zoints figured out a new navigation methodology that allows just that :cool:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
A simple setting that determines how many archive links per page:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
Ok, here we got a little crazy. Try and follow me here. We created a "thread decay" system. Basically, for threads older than X days, guests will be taken to a different version of the page. This different version might have more ads, might have less graphics, etc.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
If you choose to decay to a style, this is where you choose which one:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
This is the setting for X where any thread older than X decays.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
vBulletin changed their archive between 3.5.3 and 3.5.4. The automatic detection fails sometimes so this is where you can switch.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
Have you ever tried to place ads in your archive? If so, you know that unless you're a good programmer, it is a pain in the butt. Well, Zoints decided to make it simple with these settings:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/09/2.png
And that is Zoints SEO in a nutshell.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is Zoints SEO better than vBSEO?
A. The folks over at vBSEO (http://www.vbseo.com) are pretty darn smart people who have developed what has turned into an excellent product. If you're looking for a quality SUPPORTED solution, you should look over there. Zoints SEO does some things better than vBSEO and vBSEO does many things better than Zoints SEO. Each product has its advantages. It really depends what you're looking for in a product.
Q. You were kidding about not supporting Zoints SEO, right?
A. No.
Q. Are there any bugs in Zoints SEO?
A. Zoints SEO has been tested on dozens of forums (including many Big-Boards) for a LONG time. There may be a few bugs around, but it is a very stable product with proven results.
Q. I have this problem with Zoints SEO, will you help?
A. No.
Q. Uhhh, you do realize you could have sold this for a decent amount of money, right?
A. Yes, but then we would have to support it. Zoints is not an SEO company. Our core focus is our forum network (http://zoints.com) and various supporting solutions.
Q. So I can package Zoints SEO up and sell it as a commercial product right?
A. Nope.

After installing an error appear at the top of every page:
Warning: Wrong parameter count for strrpos() in /includes/init.php(317) : eval()'d code on line 31
and when trying to access a thread:
vBulletin Message:
Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
File: /home/core/public_html/includes/class_core.php
Line: 3023
However the URLs are rewrited and the sitemap work fine.
I'm using the .htaccess mod_rewrite option without the custom meta descriptions and keywords.

Hi,
i've installed this mod on a fresh vBulletin 3.6.1 (Template: steel purple) and configured it.
I've rurned on "Adding an "all" link to your page navigation allows ALL forum pages and thread pages to be accessible via a single page. This is very efficient for search engines AND users.". But there isn't any "ALL"-Link
Also the copyright will not be shown.
All template changes are correct (double checked).

Indeed. But the hope is that the community would come together to make the necessary changes. That's the point of open source. I think the vBulletin.org community has become too reliant on a few programmers lately. People need to start to work together.

thanks for posting links to some demo sites, this will help myself and several others understand what this product can offer..
I would like an answer to "what this will do better then vBSEO that is posted in the first post"
I seen a reply to go through both products and look for yourself, but the thread stater claimed this, I think he should be the one posting this info..
Also, I have a few questions, will the old url's be 301'd to the new ones ?
is there a sitemap that will submit to google the re_written URL's ?
and one of the "demo" sites has session ID's s=423525252452525253 after the url's,, this is a big turnoff to me,, will this be an issue ? or does that site have some other SEO work to go, to remove session ID's..
thank you, and best of luck with the zoints SEO

With the new update the product-zointsseo-2.2.1.xml doesn't have to be run? When it is run it does the quiri... That is what I was refering too... Overwriting the files did nothing for my site and my site is down so how do I work with the plug ins?
You can add:
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
to your includes/config.php
It will at least let you access your site and disable problematic plugins (hopefully)

thanks for posting links to some demo sites, this will help myself and several others understand what this product can offer..
Not really. If you look in the first post, there are a TON of options and you would have to view source of the sites to see many of them in action. In addition, things like the archive ad management system which is included cannot be seen by viewing a forum.
I would like an answer to "what this will do better then vBSEO that is posted in the first post"
I seen a reply to go through both products and look for yourself, but the thread stater claimed this, I think he should be the one posting this info..
Some is fact, some is subjective. My real problem is that many people install SEO enhancements without having a clue about the SEO theory behind it. I could tell you X, Y, and Z is great about Zoints SEO, but are you going to believe me? Anyone who is well versed in SEO, programming, and monetization will quickly see the differences between the products based solely upon the screenshots and information in this thread.
I will be going through tomorrow and doing an extensive writeup. But frankly, i'm of the opinion that no SEO modifications should be installed unless you know WHY you are installing them. There isn't an SEO product on the market (Zoints SEO included) that in MY opinion doesn't have a couple features that can in fact hurt the performance of a forum. Zoints SEO is a fantastic piece of software, but I sure as hell wouldn't turn a couple of its features on. Algorithm updates happen constantly, if you're going to play with SEO, you better understand it.
Also, I have a few questions, will the old url's be 301'd to the new ones ?
Please check the screenshots posted in the first post.
is there a sitemap that will submit to google the re_written URL's ?
No.
and one of the "demo" sites has session ID's s=423525252452525253 after the url's,, this is a big turnoff to me,, will this be an issue ? or does that site have some other SEO work to go, to remove session ID's..
If they have session IDs then they aren't using any of the url changing features.
thank you, and best of luck with the zoints SEO
Thanks Brandon, but don't wish luck to us. Zoints SEO belongs to the vBulletin community now. Wish yourselves luck :)

Very strange and I do not understand it....
Right now I can access my admin cpanel and I have basically reinstalled this script. I am now getting a very strange error..
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: cache_ordered_forums() in /home/talkandm/public_html/index.php on line 496
This line is basically for the moderator columm...
I am going to go through the template edits and see if that is where the problem is.... I believe it is and it has to do with my style...
Thanks again for the help...

Yes I use vBSEO, but I have friends and clients that can't afford it right now, if this is a good product for them, I would suggest it..
Trust me, I'm not asking question to make you look bad, these questions I did ask I feel are important to someone who is considering Any url rewrite..

If you check the coding then you can see where it adds the session url and it should automatically be pruned off the url by vB anyway. If it's not then it's a problem with their board not with this mod.
But on the other hand the writers beat demo doesn't look to good: http://www.writersbeat.com/ xD

Well I finally got everything worked out last night. I ended up reinstalling 3.6.1 and that did the trick along with me undoing the other things the install script did.
I then reinstalled and did all the edits again manually and it seems to be working fine right now. I have my fingers crossed...
I believe what caused my problem was the Thread Decay System........
At any rate the script is running fine right now though I still have to test it's functionality.
I appreciate the time and effort that has been put towards this and towards helping me last night...
I believe the install would be much simpler on a standard vb site..
If anyone would like to test this product feel free to check out my site. You would be doing me a favor also because as I said, I have not checked the functionality yet.
I am creating a temporary user for everyone...
It is called
ZointSEo
password will be zoint
This will get you registered access...

Does vB installation come default with a .htaccess file?

Here's the portion of my htaccess file that adds rewrite for zseo.
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^keepmusicalive\.com
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.keepmusicalive.com/$1 [R=permanent,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(f|all)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ forumdisplay.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(t|p)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ showthread.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(index\.php|\.css) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(archive|sitemap)/(.*)$ $1/index.php/$2 [QSA,L]
But it's important to note that I have enabled a 301 redirect that essentially directs all my homepage traffic (http://keepmusicalive.com, http://keepmusicalive.com/index.php, etc...) to be redirected to http://www.keepmusicalive.com which is the forumhome page at this domain. I've enabled the "redirect index.php" option in the ZSEO CP, and I've also enabled my archive to act as a sitemap and to be renamed as Sitemap.
So if your forumhome page is yourdomain.com/forums, or if you have different settings enabled, your htaccess will look differently than mine. ;)

Thanks, I've never had any reports of that before. It could very well be because I haven't upgraded to this latest version yet. I don't know if it contains a fix for what you reported, but I do need to upgrade.
I'll look through this thread to see exactly what you're wanting to do as far as excluding the /gallery folder.
EDIT: Ok, I found where you said that /gallery is redirecting to the /forums directory. Couple of questions for you....
1. Did this start when adding the Zoints SEO product or when you last edited your htaccess file?
2. Post or PM your htaccess file so I can look at it. Things will be a bit different since your forumhome root is yourdomain.com/forums, and requires a different type of redirect.
3. Just to clarify, are you only using the redirect to get rid of http:// versus http://www. PR splitting and dupe content, as well as getting rid of /index.php for the same purposes? Or are you also redirecting yourdomain.com to lead to yourdomain.com/forums?
I might not be able to help, but if you'll let me know what you're working with and what you're needing to do, I can at least give it a shot. :)

Thanks a lot MusicMan,
1. This only occur if I set Enable Zoints SEO to "yes" and have the original unchanged .htaccess
2. .htacces file is:
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(escort-gallery) - [L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(f|all)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ forumdisplay.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(t|p)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ showthread.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(index\.php|\.css) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(archive|sitemap)/(.*)$ $1/index.php/$2 [QSA,L]
The first line is added but not working, it's also not working (means it still points to the forum directory) with the original file.
3. Don't know what you mean, use it only for the zoints default settings + Rewrite URLs and insert keywords, (using mod_rewrite).
Thanks again.

Ok, I'm not 100% sure of what all you're needing to do with your rewrites but here's what I see.
http://mc-escort.de has a PR0
http://www.mc-escort.de has a PR3, so it makes sense to go ahead and redirect to http://www instead of to http://
So, backup your current htaccess and give this one a shot. Replace everything you posted above with the following.
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mc-escort\.de
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mc-escort.de/$1 [R=permanent,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(f|all)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ forumdisplay.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-]*-(t|p)[0-9]+(p[0-9]+|/index[0-9]*)?\.html)$ showthread.php/$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(index\.php|\.css) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(archive|sitemap)/(.*)$ $1/index.php/$2 [QSA,L]
It may or may not work exactly like you're wanting, but it's worth a shot. Let me know if that fixes the /gallery redirecting to /forums.

Sure. This code was made by MusicMan (thanks Glenn!) and you need to simply changed the URL on the 4th line to your sites address. I have no idea about .htaccess so I have no idea if anything else should go in this file!!

From within the forums a typical URL will display as

Do the links on the vbadvanced page point to a particular post or the last post in the thread, whereas the forum doesn't? The p=11086 looks like a postid to me and is normal. I see it at my forum and it just refers to a particular post. http://www.keepmusicalive.com/showthread.php?p=24014#post24014
These types of links aren't too common, but are more likely seen on search results or syndication type feeds, which your vbadvanced is probably using to display recent threads/posts.

I'm noticing people on Who is online viewing a location that comes up with invalid link: /forumdisplay.php/-.html?u=403
This has also made my gallery and links stop working properly too, pointing to the wrong place. What do I need to alter in the htaccess file at all?
I wonder if those issues have been solved. This is what's holding me fom installing.

After properly installing Zoints SEO, you will be presented with the following options in your admincp:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/1.png
As with any decent script, Zoints SEO can be turned on or off with a single click. Even better, each time you turn it on, an angel gets their wings.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/2.png
A 301 redirect is the proper way to redirect a user to a new url. If you change your urls from showthread.php?t=#### to something else and DON'T utilize a 301 redirect, then old links are going to end up going to a 404. That's very bad. Select yes here :)
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/3.png
Zoints SEO has three primary options for URL rewriting:
1. No URL rewriting
2. URL rewriting without mod_rewrite. Why use this? If you want to insert keywords in the url but don't have mod_rewrite available or don't want to expend the resources (using mod_rewrite is server intensive and slows page generation) then this is a viable solution.
3. The mod_rewrite everyone knows and prefers.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/4.png
A lot of people like to use the vBulletin archive as a sitemap. If you're going to do that, you might as well name is sitemap, right?
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/5.png
If you choose to utilize keywords in your URL, you have two choices of how to separate the words:
1. keyword-in-url.html
2. keyword_in_url.html
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/6.png
If you choose to utilize keywords in the url, then sometimes thread titles can be way too long. This option truncates the number of keywords in the url to however many you want.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/7.png
Stopwords are words that the search engines don't care about all that much. You can turn on the removal of stopwords you list with this option.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/8.png
This is a great picture. Any true SEO will agree that hippos are the cutest animals ever.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/9.jpg
If you add stopwords to the box below, they will not be listed in any urls. For example, if you have a thread title of "My dogs likes to walk" and "to" as a stopword, then the url would be /my-dog-likes-walk.html
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/10.png
This option allows you to set meta keywords on a forum by forum basis. Now, I am of the opinion that meta keywords are deprecated. If search engines are still taking them into account in their algorithms, then I weep for the state of internet technologies. Why did we include this? Because someone somewhere would scream and cry and claim they heard from their uncle's friend's grandma's cousin's daughter who built a high ranked geocities page that the reason it was ranked high was the meta keywords.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/11.png
This is the page that allows you to insert meta keywords on a forum by forum basis. That way if you have a forum about dogs, all the threads can have keywords about dogs. And if you have another forum about cats, all the keywords there can be about hippos because hippos are better than cats anyway.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/meta-keywords.png
Zoints SEO also lets you set custom meta descriptions on a forum by forum basis, use the vBulletin default, OR populate the meta description with the first X words of a thread.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/12.png
If you choose to populate the meta description with the first X words of a thread, this option lets you choose how many.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/13.png
Should you decide to set the meta descriptions on a forum by forum basis, you will utilize this screen:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/meta-description.png
Have you ever noticed that vBulletin has domain.com/forums and domain.com/forums/index.php? That's theoretically bad. That's bad because it dilutes your incoming links. Some people will link to domain.com/forums and others will link to domain.com/forums/index.php?. This option gets rid of the index.php so that you just have the clean url.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/14.png
As stated earlier, Zoints SEO was build with large forums in mind. Have you ever been on a large forum with 20,000 threads in a single subforum and getting to page 73 of 452 was an exercise in futility? Well, the search engines want to get there too so they can efficiently crawl your content. And they also want you to have less than 100 links per page. We therefore came up with this:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/15.png
What does the "all" option above add?
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/16.png
The "all" link makes life much easier for our friendly search engine bots to get to all of your content in an efficient manner while maintaining less than 100 links per page.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/17.png
Register and lets talk about it."
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/18.png
The default guest message title:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/19.png
The default guest message:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/20.png
You can then set the guest messages on a forum by forum basis on this screen. This lets you target your messages and have more relevant content :cool:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/guest-messages.png
This is another trick of the trade. You know all those "no permission" messages people are forever getting? Now you can set them on a forum by forum basis too. This lets you write custom no message pages and direct bots to new areas of your site...
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/21.png
The default no permission messages:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/22.png
The screen that lets you set no permission messages on a forum by forum basis:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/permissions.png
If you want to use the archive as a sitemap, this option does that.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/23.png
The option below is one of those aimed at large forums. It is 100% impossible for large forums to have less than 100 links on their default archive pages. Zoints figured out a new navigation methodology that allows just that :cool:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/24.png
A simple setting that determines how many archive links per page:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/25.png
Ok, here we got a little crazy. Try and follow me here. We created a "thread decay" system. Basically, for threads older than X days, guests will be taken to a different version of the page. This different version might have more ads, might have less graphics, etc.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/26.png
If you choose to decay to a style, this is where you choose which one:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/27.png
This is the setting for X where any thread older than X decays.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/28.png
vBulletin changed their archive between 3.5.3 and 3.5.4. The automatic detection fails sometimes so this is where you can switch.
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/29.png
Have you ever tried to place ads in your archive? If so, you know that unless you're a good programmer, it is a pain in the butt. Well, Zoints decided to make it simple with these settings:
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/archive-ads.png
http://img3.zoints.com/Zoints-SEO/archive-ads2.png
And that is Zoints SEO in a nutshell.

One small observation. All seems to be perfectly hunky dory, apart from when accessing threads from the 'Recent Threads' in vBAdvanced.
From within the forums a typical URL will display as
hxxp://www.cornishserver.com/forum/welcome-member-no-t2149.html
But visiting the same post, but from the vBAdvanced recent threads it looks like
hxxp://www.cornishserver.com/forum/welcome-member-no-t2149.html?p=11086#p11086
Doesn't seem to break anything, but a curiosity all the same!
Confirmed. Will be fixed.

The explanation of the Template Changes are bad. I did not find some of the Code the Style. And yes, I searched in Master Style too. Using 3.6.1
And I have a wish.
I I use German characters like äöü the Link ist cut there.
Forumtitle ist: WoD1: Jäger die Vergeltung
Link is: wod-1-j-f-108/index.html
Thats Bad. Other Forums have the complete name in the link.
There are Other Characters that cut off the Word like é and some other.
I like to have a translation matrix where I can enter a translation like
é = e
ä = ae
and so on.
and one last thing. I like to rewrite the User Profile Pages too. Is that possible?

Looks like all administrators will have the option to Rewrite URLs w/o mod_rewrite
But if one has mod_rewrite available, is it better to use the mod_rewrite for URL rewrites or is it better to use the rewrite option that does not use mod_rewrite?
The instructions allude that the only difference is that the mod_rewrite option can hog up more processing speed. So my question is, if everyone has the option to not use mod_rewrite, why even offer the mod_rewrite option if it's gonna accomplish the same URL re_writes, but only consume more processor resources?
Just curious... hopefully this hasn't already been discussed (cuz I could not find the answer in searching this huge thread).

I have vba links installed -- is there any sort of work around I can use so that I can use both (seeing as though links in not compatible with Zoints)? as far as I can see, the only problem is the base href in the template. If I remove that, I think it should still work.
Edit Oh and also.. Can someone tell me why if I turn it on to:
"Rewrite URLs and insert keywords" -- Then when I try to click into a category, I get a dead page.
But f I use: "Rewrite URLs and insert keywords", it works fine.
I have mod_rewrite turned on, and I just double check the instructions. I have done everything correctly. I am using vB 3.6.1

Zoints SEO is currently incompatible with:
1. Incompatibility with vBA Gallery link.
2. Incompatibility with vBA Links
Then uninstalled it. Trouble is, the forum it is installed upon is fairly active, and is rendered untennable because of the incompatibility, so any time delay between install/ticket submission/repair would make it not a viable proposition :(

Very cool.
However, clean install on 3.61 clean
options like dynamic guest message has no [edit][delete]
same for the dynamic permission message.
also is it ok for the keywords to be added and followed by f11 or f45 or what ever?
its not very clear how this accomplishes url rewriting wothout mod_rewrite.
will it work with lighttpd?

Well well,
This Addon seems quite good looking. I've installed this on my site. It works fine except some cases.
1)
$string = str_replace("?", "Ue", $string);
$string = str_replace("?", "ue", $string);
This code doesnt re-write the Thread links. I Still have - for the Turkish characters.
2)
Archieve has problems I think.
Chech out HERE (http://www.forumturkiye.gen.tr/archive/index.php) and click on a link. It will bring up the 404 Not found error. Couldnt figured out what had caused that.
I would be glad If I receive help

1-) Open the file /includes/function_zseo.php and search for this
$string = unhtmlspecialchars($string);
add below:
$string = str_replace("ı", 'i', $string);
$string = str_replace("ğ", 'g', $string);
$string = str_replace("?", 'u', $string);
$string = str_replace("ş", 's', $string);
$string = str_replace("?", 'o', $string);
$string = str_replace("?", 'c', $string);
$string = str_replace("Ğ", 'g', $string);
$string = str_replace("?", 'u', $string);
$string = str_replace("Ş", 's', $string);
$string = str_replace("İ", 'i', $string);
$string = str_replace("?", 'o', $string);
$string = str_replace("?", 'c', $string);

$string = str_replace("?", "u", $string);
$string = str_replace("ş", "s", $string);

I just build a product for an easy Character-Translation.
Just import the Product und change one File.
Open the file /includes/function_zseo.php and search for this
$bit = iif($vbulletin->options['zointsseo_url_separator'], '_', '-');
add nder that:
// Hoffis Char-Translation
if (!empty($vbulletin->options['chartranslationmatrix']))
{
$search = array();
$replace = array();
$sr_arr = split("\r\n",$vbulletin->options['chartranslationmatrix']);
if (is_array($sr_arr))

foreach($sr_arr as $val)
{
$trans = split("=",$val);
if (is_array($trans))
{
$search[] = $trans[0];
$replace[] = $trans[1];
}
}
$string = str_replace($search, $replace, $string);
}
}
// End Hoffi
Upload the File and go to Zoints Settings to configure your Translations.
Each Line one Translation. Like:
?=ae
?=e
Have fun.
The Zoints developer can integrate this in the next release if they want. No Problem for me. A Credit would be nice. ;)
German Version avaiable here: http://www.vbhacks-germany.org/showthread.php?t=5700
Remark: If you exclude Words with special Chars that you translate, you must enter the translated Version in the Settings!

i think if you join zoints (for free) or donate $100 you're authorized to do it
and to accomplish it technically, just go to language phrase search (in vB admin backend) look for the zoints copyright verbiage and replace the text with an empty space character " "

In my archive it shows forums but when I try to look at a thread it redirects me back to the main index of the archive so I cant read archive threads while this hack is turned on. Everything else works great except I cant looped when I try to read posts in the archive.
If I disable archive_postheader and archive_process_start plugins it works fine.
Does anyone know what could cause this problem? Is this happening to anyone else?
great hack btw, I am very thankful for this, if I get this one problem worked out it will be 100% smooth operating.

I noticed you recently switched your forum from your own seo system to vbseo.
Not that it matters as both systems are great and do what they are intended to do.
On topic: Do you happen to know why a site using Zoints SEO's rewrite gives you an infinite redirect loop which results in the inability to access the site's content when you refuse the site's cookies? (works just fine with cookies)
I've tried it on multiple sites (even your own). I have noticed that vBSEO does not appear to have this issue and it is kind of odd since cookies shouldnt really matter.

Yep, i've been dying to try a new url schema for quite awhile. vBSEO allows me to do that, whereas Zoints SEO does not. vBSEO allows for far more configuration options than Zoints SEO at present. You get what you pay for :)

+1
What SEO does is to make the site more Crawable. It doesnt put you in Top10 results in Google or whatever and it is not about patience. It justs help search engines to search better since "SEO" means "Search Engine Optimisation"
For whom "knows what he's doing" Zoints SEO is on of the best plugins I have installed on this site. I strictly recomment it and for whom "Doesnt know what he's doing", you can try buying vBSEO and start prayin' to god to give you rapid community development bec. you are paying for it.

I like the plugin and understand SEO, the concept behind Zoints SEO is great. My problem was a very basic thing got broken. View New Posts on threadview no longer works. I posted here and didn't get an answer, I viewed the Zoint's forum and see people have asked the same with no answer.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '\"', expecting ']' in /home/bonjurke/public_html/forum/includes/adminfunctions_template.php(3593) : eval()'d code on line 2
This is likely caused by a malformed conditional statement. It is highly recommended that you fix this error before continuing, but you may continue as-is if you wish.

Here's what I did to fix the View New Posts link on showthread:
<a href="http://www.forumurl.com/showthread.php?t=$threadid$firstunread"><strong>$vbphrase[view_first_unread]</strong></a>
So far it seems to work.:smoke:

Uninstall the product via the product manager, and remove any uploaded files from the installation...

Interesting... I've been doing a lot of reading.
Some say SEO is the way to go!
But I also heard this doesn't matter..
Either way I installed and will give it a go.
My next question..
Any plans on trying to make this work with vBAdvanced?

sitemaps arent gonna do anything for a forum that already has all its pages linked anyway

Hi guys,
First of all, i installed your seo on my last forum and it was super! Unfortunatly this time i seem to be having a problem. When i installed zoints SEO and turned it on, i noticed all of my images were missing and that none on my urls worked.
After looking into it i found out it was missing the forum directory in each url and so it wasnt finding the images / going to the forum or thread, for example it would go to this url:
http://www.myforum.com/forumdisplay....stions-10.html
But the forum isnt in the root, its in the forums folder so it should be this:
http://www.myforum.com/forums/forumd...stions-10.html
If i add the forum directory to the url it works perfectly, but i can only do that manually. How can i tell zoints SEO that my forum isnt root its in the forums folder and that it needs to be adding /forums to each url it optimises. Also, when doing the mod rewrite, do i add the lines to the htaccess in my forums folder or the one in my websites root?
Many thanks for any help you can give!
James

"Incompatibility with vBA Gallery"
can I just check that all this means is it doesn't rewrite the urls of gallery & image links?
as I have no problems at all running Zoints SEO on a site with vBGallery :S
