View Full Version : How Do I Search Calendar's 'event' field for any email address?

Hello. I deliberately broke my three questions up into 3 separate posts to keep things clear and simple. This is (I hope) my final advice question.

As part of my efforts to cope with the rapidly growing number of events in our calendar (we're now up to 2,100 future events and growing fast), I'd like to be able to scan the event description field in vb_event to locate all calendar entries which contain an email address and then use the address contained in individual calendar events to email a copy of the event to the contact person for the event.

Since our calendar events are largely posted by a single research assistant in our offices, I can't use the username to send the listing to an individual calendar event's contact person. So, I've decided the way to do that is to search the event field for any email address and then email the event posting to that address.

Can someone here tell me how to "snip out" the email address from an event's description or perhaps even give me a simple query that will do that?

For those who are interested and may be able to help, you can find our events calendar here (http://www.steppinoutnewmexico.com/forums/calendar.php)...

Thanks!

No, I'm not. I'm running 3.0.8. This add-on seems to be for 3.5 and at the moment, I'm running only the vanilla version of the 3.0.8 events calendar. But I don't see why that should matter in this case. From what I saw in the add-on description, it didn't mention a thing about automatically isolating an email address from the body text of an individual event.

I'm assuming that you, perhaps know something that I don't about this addon? Is it even available for 3.0.8?? Does it address any of the requirements I described in my 3 posts hers this morning?

Thanks
