Hello,

This is a single server setup that access the server info via Admin login.
I will have a "lite" verison soon that needs only a IP:Port to connect.

I also have another in the mix with a database table to imput multi - IP:PORT.
This would allow for a choice of many "favs" or if you have a farm of servers.

Mine did the same thing, the only thing you change, is your Server Name, The IP and then the Password, and you can change the refresh time to like 20, that should work, if it doesn't let me know, and I can come to ur site and help you fix it, Also, be sure you "chmod" your shoutcast.xml to 777, I forgot to do that, and it woudn't work. do the chmod first if you haven't already :)

If you are sure that your shoutcast server is setup and there are no issues with firewalls and ports. Your webhost may not allow external queries to ports other than 80.

To test this, set your shoutcast server to port 80 (default web port) and see if your stats show up. If all is well, contact your webhost and ask if there are ports other than 80 that are open and can be used to request an XML feed from. (IE: shoutcast status php script). You may be in luck. :)

Everything is installed the scast_home.xml file is CHMOD'd but it says the server is down.

This worked fine with the old version with no problems, since i updated it hasnt worked.

Great Hack indeed! I have a new problem. Everithing was running smooth, when streaming from my computer with shoutcast. I decided to take things further and stream from within my server. I got the server to work and stream ok, only problem is that now the song name stays as the first sanem on the playlist.lst how can i fix this?

To put less load on the shoutcast server and to speed up page loads. The shoutcast info the script gets is cached to your local webserver in that XML file. The XML file is called up when a request to show the data. If your cache file does not update then you are not connecting to the shoutcast server.

9 out of 10 times this is because of settings (port,ip,password) or your webhost has blocked ports. Many hosts only allow queries for data on port 80 (http, rss, xml feeds). I have seen many webhosts designate a port for "other" needs of their clients.

Send a ticket to your webhost and see if ports are blocked (ie:8000). If so they may give you another port you can use. Reset your shoutcast server to output on that port. Lastly, if there is nothing that your host will do, you can move the shoutcast server to output on port 80 vs. 8000.

hi Zachariah.. i have a lil problem to solve with shoutcast... mu host currently don't let me to change chmod to scast_home.xml. I can set 'em to 666 only, and this would be enough but my server still appears to be down.. is possibile for you to let the product to use at least 666 instead of 777?

just fyi, my shoutcast station is currently on air and a local test on http://localhost:8000/index.html says that all works good..

The link is the setup from shoutcast thats all, I sat in here for a week and finally heard from my host NO so I went to the source got it hooked up and running and have forum room for discussion the and subforum link to the radio bada boom bada bing???

Ok..check this out..You all are in USER area..Zach..May i call you Zach? Anyway..He has explained in detail what you need to do..if yo uploaded correctly and CHMOD the file as required then your HACK is fine..if its not connecting then the problem is your shoutcast server. Quick fix for this would be go to shoutcast.com and read all the documentation. I could sit here and explain how it all works but I wont..My advice is dont read into it to hard its basic.

The chances are that your hosting company are blocking the port which you need to access your server. Have you tried contacting them and asking them to open the port for outbound and inbound traffic? I had to do this with my hosting company. Tell them you need to establish a socket connection in order to read some XML data.

Exactly what I meant with regards GoDaddy. They are complete amateurs. To be honest though, unless you have phenominal upload bandwidth, or an expected listener base of about 6 then you should consider a streaming host solution. I am with streamsolutions.co.uk - they have US and Oz based servers too. I think their plans start from about $2 per month.

However, you will still need GoDaddy to open a port from their server to your shoutcast server

I have the same problem Currently our shoutcast server is down.
All files are uploaded and CHMOded correctly. I own the server that shoutcast is on so i have no problems with ports. I am currently using 9981 because a clien of mine uses 8000.. Any ideas how i can get to show it is on ???

Guys. Zach has created a hack which just reads the server status information, streams the song info, provides a link to listen to the stream and allows access the to stats. He really can't be expected to answer all the questions on configuring a shoutcast server. I guarantee if you are not seeing the server online then there is a port issue somewhere (doesn't matter if its on your own server - check your firewall).

uploadspeed / bitrate = max listeners , always leave some for overhead

Example: 256k upload speed / 56k bitrate = max 4 listeners ( 4* 56 = 224kbps ) keep in mind that your provider says he gives you 256kbps upload, the actual speed might be much lower.

"What You Hear" setting for the imput of Soundblaster Live! feed vs. WAV.
Any sound that you can hear can Bcast as a DJ to the shoutcast server.

- Teamspeak, Roger Wilco or IM program that can connet your PC to others w/ a headset. As they talk or you talk it will be the feed that is sent to the shoutcast server.

I have seen people use 2 soundcards for I/O because they did not have a full duplex soundcard.

You should be able to move the hook location from formhome_compleet to global_start. In the settings area of the hack change the location to "custom".

This will allow you to place $scast in say the header template or navbar template that shows up on each page.

Ok there are a few things that could be happening.
- Lets rule out server error first.

Goto: "shoutcast server ip:port"
- http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port/played.html
- This should display your history of songs directly from the server.

If you have the same blank results there for each song. The DJ (source) that feeds the server may not have "enable title updates" and URL, Title are checked off in the DSP. (see attached)

Ok there are a few things that could be happening.
- Lets rule out server error first.

Goto: "shoutcast server ip:port"
- http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port/played.html
- This should display your history of songs directly from the server.

If you have the same blank results there for each song. The DJ (source) that feeds the server may not have "enable title updates" and URL, Title are checked off in the DSP. (see attached)

That was all checked. I just restarted WinAMP and that seemed to fix it. I am wondering if the new AAC+ encoder is buggy.

Two things I'd love to see for a future build is it display cd cover artwork and a "buy now" affiliate link to amazon.

That is not a big problem, I'll wip something up after I get ajax updates of current song and history.

I just found out... if your shoutcast server goes down... your main index will seach for updates... so it will hang for a while... so a tip... if your shoutcast goes down disable plugin till its back up... great plugin BTW

Read the documentation over at shoutcast.com. The Server IP is the IP address where your domain is hosted on. Usually if you have shared hosting, your provider wont allow web radio.

The port is 8000 typically. Ensure there is no firewalls blocking this port though. Your first step is to start the shoutcast server via ssh. Until your shoutcast server has started, this plugin does nothing.

Make sure you have Unlimited Bandwith on your web package if you plan to host your shoutcast server on your webhost server.

The bandwith useage depends on "# of users connected" and the quility of the song in kbps.

uploadspeed / bitrate = max listeners , always leave some for overhead

Example: 256k upload speed / 56k bitrate = max 4 listeners ( 4* 56 = 224kbps ) keep in mind that your provider says he gives you 256kbps upload, the actual speed might be much lower.

192k CD quility
56k stereo
24k mono (like an AM radio, but works for music)
8k voice

You need to review the documentation over at shoutcast.com. Ask your questions there as your questions on this thread will only clutter it with unecessary noise.

Until you get your shoutcast server running, then you really shouldn't be posting your shoutcast questions here.

You can find out your IP address at www.dnsstuff.com. Yes, you will need Winamp and the DSP plugin in order to broadcast. ALL of this is fully documented at shoutcast, so please ask over there first. You do not need to upload your MP3s to your server. They play via Winamp. Do yourself a favour and read first.

I have done this a few ways. It really depends on your availability of bandwidth and server storage space.

You can do a few things.
1) connect remotely to a server and transmit music / voice to it.
2) upload music to the server w/ a player and run on endless loop w/ rotating play lists.

I have installed shoutcast server software to the same server as my webhost., installed a player and uploaded mp3’s.

I have installed shoucast server software on a “co-located ” server and connect the stats hack to it for data and use a remote system @ home to DJ music.

What type of options do you have ?

I have made a "Module CMPS: Shoutcast Status Full" , "Module CMPS: Shoutcast Status Lite" block for VB3.5. I have plans to merge the 2 and make an ALL in One operation as I did with this version.

My stats wont currently work......

I still ahve the shoutcast server is offline although my stats on my atchual site is on air and im connected via sam. The Forum Stats still say im of air.

I've read through the first 12 pages to see if anyone else is having this problem, but I couldn't find it. None of the built-in players seem to work, except winamp.
Looking at my server log, I see this:

EDIT: I noticed that the errors was referring to the shoutcast_lite addon, and removed that from my modules (using vba) and now there are no errors on the log, but still get blank popups :(

This will allow you to place $scast in say the header template or navbar template that shows up on each page.

Hello.

By default if you list only the file name it will automatically point to the "root" folder of the forums.

IE: scast_home.xml will point to you /vBulletin install root/scast_home.xml
- You should not have problems of CHMOD 777
- make sure you have write access to the file.

Yes it can ping the shoutcast server. (this was never an issue)

The problem is the web server's ability to ping an external IP on ports such as 8000 (or your custom shoutcast server port ) and get back data. Web providers will shutdown almost all external port queries to ports other than 80.

By request many hosts: (unless you can do it yourself)
-- will open the port you need.
-- has a custom port to funnel all traffic through.
-- will tell you they can not help you.

Until you get an answer.

Configure your shoutcast server to output on port 80.
- (unless you also have a web server on that shoutcast server)

You need to CHMOD scast.xml..... I have no idea how many times Zacharia has already said that..... So, back on topic, any idea on how much longer until the next release?

Its stopped loading up the players, I have today upgraded apache and php. Now when I click on real, media player or quicktime it loads the main site page in the window, instead of the player.

Any Help please.
