Go to settings:
1. Set Location to CUSTOM
2. Go to plugins list and find Shoutcast Status Full - Main and set the hook start to global_start
3. Then go to a template, i.e. navbar and put this command under <!-- / nav buttons bar -->:
$scast

Problem now is that neither the Stats or History will display. Is this a trade-off because of using a custom setting, or am I missing an edit somewhere?

This is a known issue.

My solution: delete the html codes in according with the problem above.. Its not big if you have no history.. But the real problem is the load average.. Your forum runs anyway fast with this plugin?

I'm really not sure what you mean by "deleting the html codes" ?? Nor do I yet see how this would cause the stats and history to display again. If this is a known issue when using the Custom setting, then I guess it may be a choice between having the full display on ForumHome, or a limited display on all pages. Maybe you (or anyone affected by this) could be a little more specific about the code you're referring to?

As regards server loads, this really isn't an issue. As Zachariah has already said, the call is to an external IP for XML output. The only time server loads would be affected is if the actual SHOUTcast stream was running on the same server as your forums.

My own site runs just as fast with or without this plug-in installed.

Edit/update : Just reading back through this thread I've noted this is something Zachariah is/will be working on. I'm happy to wait until he's got it done . . but an update on progress would be helpful . . .

1) IP:PORT of shoutcast server of choice. (no password needed)
- This will give you player options and what is playing.
- Does not need shoutcast server admin password

The big problems most of the time is with the webhost that the script is installed on.
For security reasons many hosts block ports other than 80 for data retrieval.

Shoot a letter to your host asking what ports are open in the firewall for a custom PHP script to remotely retrieve XML data from your shoutcast server.

- Your host may have a "set port" set aside for all external traffic. If so, you can adjust your shoutcast server to the port your web host can query.

- Your host might open a requested port (IE: 8000 default shoutcast ) or the port you are using on your shoutcast server.

Autoplay is a setting within each player. (WMP, QT, REAL)

I do not have a lot of experience w/ flash yet, but I am keeping an eye out for a nice player to add to the mix.

If you are broadcasting, and your mod isn't showing your server as online, then the problem is that your HOST is not allowed the SHOUTCAST SERVER IP:PORT in the firewall, so you will have to contact them and ask them to allow your shoutcast server IP in the FORUM HOSTING SERVER firewall . . .

You do not need SSH access unless you plan to install Shoutcast server on your webhost.
Make sure you have Unlimited Bandwith on your web package.

The bandwith useage depends on "# of users connected" and the quility of the song in kbps.

uploadspeed / bitrate = max listeners , always leave some for overhead

Example: 256k upload speed / 56k bitrate = max 4 listeners ( 4* 56 = 224kbps ) keep in mind that your provider says he gives you 256kbps upload, the actual speed might be much lower.

The shoutcast server and where it is hosted is up to you.
- I have one sitting on a windows 2k system and a cable modem.
- I have one sitting on freebsd server and a T1.

When you upload the files to your web server you want to keep the folder structure in tact.

CHMOD is usaly built into the FTP program you use to upload file to your webserver.
- properties of the XML file should allow you to change the permissions.

I am working on a database version to allow the admin to add multi IP's , Ports, Passwords, ect ..

Client side display will be a default station and the rest in a dropdown or something. I have not designed the front end yet.

I have it working on all 3.6.x versions. The underline or not is choice of the developer during assembly.

To put less load on the shoutcast server and to speed up page loads. The shoutcast info the script gets is cached to your local webserver in a XML file. The XML file is called up when there is a request to show the data. If your cache file does not update then you are not connecting to the shoutcast server. (cache file is always "zero" kb)

9 out of 10 times this is because of settings (port,ip,password) or your webhost has blocked ports in their firewall. Many hosts only allow queries for data on port 80 (http, rss, xml feeds). This hack will pull the XML feed from your shoutcast server port. I have seen many webhosts designate a port for "other" needs of their clients.

If you are 100% sure your setting and install is correct.

Send a ticket to your webhost and see if ports are blocked (ie:8000). If so they may give you another port you can use. Reset your shoutcast server to output on that port. Lastly, if there is nothing that your host will do, you can move the shoutcast server to output on port 80 vs. 8000 and your webhost should read the feed.

Ok I installed this hack a while ago and found out my hosting company wouldn't allow it...so I switched to one that would. I've read through the threads posted here and I'm still unable to get it to work correctly. Yes my hosting company has checked the ports and they're all open. I've tried chmod 777 and or 666 and still nothing. I'm also pretty sure that I installed the mod correctly but it still says server down on my forum. We are connected and streaming but it's still not working on the forums. Any ideas as to what else I could try since I really want to have this mod running on my forum.

Some possible enhancements:

Enable/Disable option in the admin panel
Permissions (only those in listed usergroups can see the radio - of course this doesn't prevent those with the URL from listening to it)
A radio scheduler - I'd prefer it separate from the calender as that can get cluttered with events. Just a nice table which shows the scheduled programs. This should be able to be enabled and disabled
An option to hide the Radio table in the forumhome template when the server is offline (as it's just taken up real estate)

This hack has a lot of potential.

Found a simple fix to enable the option to hide the radio status when offline

in the offline template find:

change to:

The hack works with a dynamic url made on your forum settings.

Default is "index", but you have renamed it to "portal" and portal.php is no longer your FORUMHOME.

I have problem with my host because they were blocking ports.so I contact them and they open ports 8000 and 3306 (8000 for shoutcast and 3306 for MySQL I run on my comp).

shoutcast.com is up, I just went by there. You need to click the Documentation tab on their navbar, you'll find detailed explanations there. :)

In the Zip download there is a folder hierarchy:

upload
- images
- images/misc
- includes
- includes/shoutcast

These should be uploaded to the "root" of the forums directory.
This will place the 2 missing files where they need to be.

/forums/scast_home.xml - The vBulletin install folder.

To put less load on the shoutcast server and to speed up page loads. The shoutcast info the script gets is cached to your local webserver in that XML file. The XML file is called up when a request to show the data. If your cache file does not update then you are not connecting to the shoutcast server.

9 out of 10 times this is because of settings (port,ip,password) or your webhost has blocked ports. Many hosts only allow queries for data on port 80 (http, rss, xml feeds). I have seen many webhosts designate a port for "other" needs of their clients.

If you are 100% sure your setting and install is correct.

Send a ticket to your webhost and see if ports are blocked (ie:8000). If so they may give you another port you can use. Reset your shoutcast server to output on that port. Lastly, if there is nothing that your host will do, you can move the shoutcast server to output on port 80 vs. 8000.

ok great hack thanks, i got 1 slight problem, if i use any of the WMP, REAL, OR QUICKTIME links they produse a mall popup box showing part of my forum home page, instaed of the player, playing the stream, the way it shood, the winamp link works but i had to selct what way i wanted to open the link for that 1 wether the rest dont give u an option,

I am facing a very strange problem!

So i have in vista shoutcast dnas and dsp plugin for winamp, all setup fine! Also my settings in the plugins options are ok!

BUT, when i put my server ip (which is my computers ip) i cannot access my forums page, everybody else can, but i cant!
When i change my servers ip (change my ip) i try to load my forum page and it is loading fine!

I'm having a little trouble with this module. I have this programmed on the right hand column. It shows up but it's a little design funky.

I'm using the popular skin, CA_Evo (fluid). One of the neat designs is you can shink and grow the modules. All of the other modules works fine but this Shoutcast box doesn't. I've double checked the code from the install.txt file but it doesn't look right.

Also, the ShoutCast server is up but my site says its down. I'm not exactly sure why the discrepancy.

I can work it where the script detects who is the DJ by info they fill out in the DSP plugin.
- AIM, ICQ (script will detect and pull the database info on the "custom dj profile")

It's definitely the shoutcast plugin, because if we switch it from global_start to forumhome_start, it works fine, but as soon as we switch it back, it causes problems.

I've edited the line above for both the default template and the custom on, I tried changing the height value to 100 and then 500 (just in case I was going blind lol) and even set resizable to =yes but no change. Tried a full cache refresh of the page too. Could this be because I'm using 3.7.0?

Make sure the MP3's you are streaming to the server have their ID3 tags filled out.
- Title, Artist

That info in each Mp3 is decoded and sent to the shoutcast server.

We get a lot of new members that don't know the radio is on the forumhome page.

Is it possible to have this, maybe by editing the xml file or copying templates across to forumdisplay or both ?????

I've experienced the same problem today. One user stopped streaming and when another started the plugin said the radio was offline even though the shoutcast was running fine. I've tried reinstalling the entire mod and to no success. Any help would be appreciated.

9 out of 10 times this is because of settings (port,ip,password) or your webhost has blocked ports. Many web hosts only allow queries for data on port 80 (http, rss, xml feeds). I have seen many webhosts designate a port for "other" needs of their clients.

If you are 100% sure your setting and install is correct.

Send a ticket to your webhost and see if ports are blocked (ie:8000). If so they may give you another port you can use. Reset your shoutcast server to output on that port. Lastly, if there is nothing that your host will do, you can move the shoutcast server to output on port 80 vs. 8000.

1) only the media player shows in a new window with the skin the rest players dont shown skins and no play..
2)The media player try to load the link but only for seconds then nothing..

ok ... I host my own shoutcast server as well as admin my own ports.... I have my default port for shoutcast set at 8000 and my broadcast program is encoding.. I have people that can "hit" listen to my broadcasts but for somereason the hack always says the shoucast server is allways down.......

I have verified the password aswell as the ports and everything is right....
I also changed the cache setting to :chmod 666 still nothing ... what might I be doing wrong?

I don't think that you find here shoutcast Hack for 3.7.x
I have 3.7.3 board and i use shoutcast hack for 3.6.x and is working fine.
Only with the CMPS shoutcast hack i get problems..

If your server is off line all the time, your webhost is stoping the querry to your remote shoutcast system (9 out of 10 times). Many hosts block all ports via firewall except 80. Send a e-mail to your host about what ports are open that you can use to read a xml feed other than port 80.

The majority of data is from your shoutcast server to the client.

The only data you are getting from shoutcast server to webhost is 4.8k per refreash of your cache file.
If your cache file is set to update every 3 min = 20 times an hour = 96KB hour = 576KB for a 6 hour show.

That is if the cache file updates every 3 min

Usually in your FTP program you can RT-click the file / folder and "CHMOD" or get the permissions / properties of the file.

However, I cannot set it to display on every page. I've set it to use a custom location and included the variable. It works on Forumhome, but on other pages it does not.

Right click on corrupted images and see where they are pointing to, then move the images in the upload folder ther.

- This file should be in the root of the forums folder. ($vboptions[bburl])

/forums/scast_home.xml - The vBulletin install folder.

The XML file is called up when a request to show the data. If your cache file does not update then you are not connecting to the shoutcast server.

But i have some issues with it, i have all the correct setttings in my admincp still it always shows that the server is down.

My port is 8088 and not 8000...Does that make any difference? (however i have put 8088 in port field in admicp)

Ok I got mine working now - so far so good - only thing is the info does not update regularly or at least it does not seem to - I will monitor it more and report back - I was very tired when I got it completed.

I am really not sure what the problem was - I could not make it work to save my life - So a complete "re-install" fixed it - not sure if something was corrupted with the 1st install but it works now and that is what really matters.

For now everything works great except for the updating but I will report back later on that to make sure full kudos are given - great add on, either way!

I had to re-install everything all over again and then it started working.

I am not sure if I messed up the CHGMOD the 1st time.


He did tell me he is working on new versions but that was some time ago.

I need the CMPS version but just put my custom flash player in a module until he redoes these.
