Looked at the instructions and everywhere else...don't see any upgrade instructions. Is it upload/import/overwrite for the files and the xml?

The XEON version uses all new files, therefore if you need to remove the old vbMp3 Player just delete the files it used. The only file that is exactly the same is the flashobject.js, which is used for embedding the flash player correctly.:)

Great! Now its much more interessting, to use this player :)

And thats above all because now you can change the playlists, so you can offer your visitors several music genres

BIG CONGRATULATION WHICH COMES FROM A GERMAN ;)

Thanks! :)

You will have much more functionality with playlists once I release the full integrated vBulletin version.

how do u change the play list????

Hi,

Details on how to do this has been added to the first post. All you do is edit the data fields in the XML files, changing the urls and titles only. There are other optional fields you can change, soundBuffer and streaming, these have a default value in the player itself, but you can override these values per track in the XML file (details in first post explain these parameters).

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Yes, there is. However, it depends how you wish to add it to a non-vb page. Either by popup or embedding the whole player?

It does require code changes in both cases, if you would like these details I will document them for you, and send via PM.

Okay, I will PM you the details a little later, bit busy at the moment doing a couple of custom jobs for clients.

The pro version will be free, I never released this modification for profit from licensed vBulletin users. All the work I put into this mod, is mainly done during quiet times, when I don't have so much custom work from clients. At the moment this is hard since I have alot work, so its a case of squeezing it in when I have time.

Still, I get there in the end! That's what counts! :D

You shouldn't suffer database errors, because this modification does not use any database queries yet. It would need to be fully integrated within vBulletin to cause any database errors.:confused:

Cool beans. My last question...

I told you before I had made several playlists for the old player... can I copy and paste the lines with the URL's into the new XEON playlist to combine them all into one playlist since the 50 track max bug is now fixed?

And thanks for a great product. I've been waiting for this new version. My members love the tunes. :D

sorry not sure if this has been addressed but One how do yoy edit xml files? and two how does one resize the xeon player. Mine is a bit too short on one side and cuts off the player... I tried resizing it by click resize=yes and i tried adding more width and heighth but it doesnt seem to change

I have updated the XEON package now to resolve that size issue. I had inserted the dimensions for the javascript popup incorrectly.

XML files can be edited in Notepad, Wordpad or any text document editing software. Note: do not use anything like MS Word as this will add unwanted code that will cause problems..

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Yes, you can.. The playlist XML file format hasn't been changed at all, so everything will work fine.

The only problem I had with playlist switching was coding the player to flip through unlimited lists. The player was refusing to unload and load new XML files. I will be 'fixing' this very soon.

Excellent! And it's convenient that you have 5 playlists in the new version, and I had made 5 playlists for the old player. That way I can keep the music in categories. SWEEEEEEET!!! Thanks again...off to upgrade. :D

Probably a silly question, and perhaps one that has been asked already. I read the thread but may have missed it so I apologize if it is actually already out there.

Now, the question:

Is it going to be possible in the Pro player to have the playlists have titles instead of numbers?

BTW - this addition is awesome. Thanks for it.

Hi,

Not a silly question, and certainly not asked for before...

At the moment its not possible to parse a playlist title through the actual flash player. However, once this modification is fully integrated into vBulletin then the options will become endless, things like searchable playlists, tracks and allowing members (permission set) to add songs, etc will all be possible.

could this be made into a attachments reader?
like when ever there is a thread with audio attachments a button well apear near the reply and quote under sig, and u click on it and it will send those files to the player's playlist, (maybe the urls for the attachments can be put in a table in ur db then the player reads its playlist from there) and then it will play the filesin that thread, and if u keep the player open then u can go to other threads and keep adding to the list.
i really like this idea:) that would be one of the best hacks a attachment player

There's only one problem with playing attachments when using flash, and that is security related issues. It's very easy to setup and attach a redirect in flash. So you would need to be able trust your members 100%, or have permissions set in such a way so they could post attachments, but not show until they've been moderated by an administrator.

There is a new parameter been added in Flash player 9.0 ActiveX called 'allowNetworking' - but this doesn't stop a flash redirection for malicious purposes.

By 'slow' do you mean the actual mp3 track appears to sound like its running at a slow speed? If this is the case, its due to how flash works with mp3 streaming and variations in the mp3 bitrate. If your mp3's have varying bitrates then you end up with all sorts of problems. The way around this is to make sure all mp3 data is encoded at 128bit rate.

If you mean mp3's taking time to stream from a server then try changing the soundbuffer value to 3 or change the stream to false, within the XML file - this will override the default values I have set in flash player.

Hope this resolves your problem.

I have an idea only.... maybe you could add it to your cool mod. Here somewhere is a hack for "now playing list for postbit" Could you add that to your mp3 player set up? Kinda cool to see what someone is listening to.... Might even be cool to do a mousover a users name and see what they are listening to either on forum home or in posting.

Something I could ponder with the main release, or an addon perhaps. Who knows anything is possible with vBulletin!;)

I will release a mini mp3 player, with 5 playlists available, soon. It will be compatible with the full vBulletin integration which will be released very soon!;)

I'm still having a minor issue with the playlists... don't know if it's my computer or the player.

I had 5 playlists, all with under 100 songs, except for #5, which had 107 songs. When I click on that playlist button, I get an error about a script is causing flash player to run slowly, do you want to abort this script?

I took out some songs, leaving about 80 in the playlist, and it works fine.

Ideas? I love this hack! :)

Hmm... I will have to check that issue. I tested it with a 'dummy' XML file holding 1,000 'dummy' tracks and seemed okay. I'll check it out, because I have nearly got the AdminCP and Product Installer working, which will mean no more XML file data. Just running some tests first before releasing it though.

Well, the beta will be released shortly... just running some more tests before I actually release it. Seems there is a few bugs in the Xeon player, using under 5 tracks, and now over 100 tracks, it becomes unstable and goes into a loop. So, it will be released with these known bugs, until I can fix these 2 problems which seem to be intermittent on the test site.:confused: I'll get these issues fixed ASAP as they will cause problems if members have permission to add tracks. Just need to fix the Product Installer XML to use the javascript embed.

But Usergroup permissions, WOL and allowing members to view/add tracks is all working, along with the vba CMPS updating as well.:)

The XEON just needs re-compiling, re-documenting and packing. It's fully working within vBulletin with no errors. New features include Usergroup permissions for viewing/adding tracks, counters display number of tracks in each playlist, WOL is also setup and AdminCP settings for adding, deleting or editing of tracks. Just looking into the mp3 ID Tag reading, which was working earlier, when I received an error in compiling..lol Typical, works with an error!:confused:

Just checked you site! Cool...:cool: Because you have your CMPS installed in the root of your domain the code will need to be changed to reflect that the player and XML files are in the forum directory. The code you need to change is the relative path to the player .swf and also the .js file for it to work from the same .swf.

If you want me to post the changed code to work on your CMPS let me know.

Well, it should work - but probably be a bandwidth killer. Albums are normally fairly big in file size.

I'm just doing the final few edits to some templates in the Product XML, and then the full vbulletin integration will be released. Been on test for about week now, with no problems - just been adding extras! :D

The demo I have on beta testing, does support popup as well as page embed, however the popup isn't available to guests at present.

Hopefully, I will be releasing it very soon - just need to tidy up the product.xml file and a bit of code. Because of the XEON not supporting more than 100 tracks per playlist, an IF conditional has been added preventing the player from being overpopulated, which leads the player becoming unstable.

Hi Shazz..;)

Due to way myspace.com upgraded their servers after a worm was sent using flash through their servers, they added a default parameter called allowNetworking="false" this only prevents links from working inside a flash file. However, the embed code I use to get around the IE issue, would prevent it from working on myspace, because they don't allow javascript on their servers (security issue).

The only way around this would be to host the player on another server with the XML files, and use the old method code to embed the flash player. This will only work with the current XEON player, the one due to be released uses an entirely new method of populating directly through PHP and MySQL.

I used to use myspace.com until they brought in the allowNetworking parameter - shame really.

:)

The new XEON is virtually rebuilt, and not compatible with the current installation. Hence, it uses all new file names and files, apart from the flashobject.js embed file.

If you haven't yet upgraded to the current XEON, then I would recommend waiting just a few days until the new one is released. I will probably release it as a main addon, and use a new thread due to the whole re-coding of all files. The XEON player does still look the same, but I have changed internal coding, making it incompatible with these current players.

Hi StarDome,

These current versions will work on vBulletin 3.6 and above, as they do not require database table alterations. The instructions will be the same, for most vBulletin versions.

The one due to be released is completely different, not in looks but as in functions and fully integrated into vBulletin's database. This would need testing on vb3.6.1 because we've only tested it on 3.6.2.

So you're in luck! Go ahead and give your site a new look! :D ;)

If you know which paths to change and in which lines it quite easy!;)

Anyway, try this...

Replace the code in the adv_portal_xeonplayer template of the style you are using with this:
<!-- Start XEON vbMp3 Player -->
<tr>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/forums/flashobject.js"></script>

</tr>
</thead>

<tr>
<td class="$getbgrow">
<!-- js flashobject -->

<div align="center" width="100%" id="xeon_player">
Warning!!! To view the XEON vbMp3 Player please enable JavaScript and Flash!
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
var fo = new FlashObject("/forums/xeon_vbmp3Player.swf", "xeon_player", "400", "450", "8,0,0,0", "#E1E4F2");
fo.addParam("quality", "high");
fo.write("xeon_player");
</script>

<!-- js flashobject -->
</td>
</tr>
<!-- End XEON vbMp3 Player -->

hmm..that's the code I tried. anyway..tried this too. still doesn't work. :/

is there some setting to allow flashI might be missing?

where can we find more skin
exept for default stlyle of vbmp3 player

Hi,

This player does not use 'skins' like other players you see around the internet. The actual flash file, has become too complex, just to change the skin 'on-demand'. With the vBulletin full integration version it simply does away with all files that would normally allow changing of 'skins'. This may change in future versions, but only done via the vBulletin AdminCP.

There is alot planned for this player, and even combining it with an FLV player, which would not only give users mp3's but also video as well.

Yes, sure it is...

All you do is use the original CMPS block code, not any custom code. Then upload the another player.swf you want to use into your site 'root', along with the flashobject.js file. You would need to duplicate the 5 XML files from the forum 'root' and copy them to the site 'root'.

That should work, because the javascript flashobject call is in the CMPS block code.

It looks fine to me, apart from you've only populated 1 XML file with 5 tracks, all 5 XML files can use tracks upto 100 songs in each.

If you still see the same songs it maybe cached in your browser, this is a problem when viewing or debugging flash movies. Try emptying your cache and then reload the page.

Hey Syrus,

Cheers,

G.

You wouldn't believe the demand for this modification, or maybe it's just the player! I'm expecting to release the full vBulletin Integration this week, would have been last week but I had problems with my host and had to move servers carrying a 1/2Gb database with me.. and 11hrs to upload my site over this weekend, really put me behind.

Anyway, thats all done now, so I'll get the documentation done and packaged, then you will be all set to go. I'll release it as a major add-on so people don't get mixed up with the XML version on this thread. Due to the new one using the database and no XML, the players coding needed to be modified. I expect I'll update the original vbMp3 Player to use the new method of database population, once I have the XEON working perfect, with no known issues. At the moment the 100 tracks per playlist is still a problem, and the full vbulletin version has been modified to cut-off playlist additions once 100 tracks in any playlist has been reached.

So its not far off release!;)

Some suggestions my users mentioned:

-Making the player wider it's too small.

-Having some kind of way to make it so people under the age of 13 can't see the songs that have swears. Perhaps you could this by having different folders.

Kind of you my friend.:)

I am thinking on making another player this time with the ability of adding new skins, and selection via the AdminCP - at the moment this isn't even done, so its a long way off, but a possibility. :D The skiins would all need to be based on a template system.

To create a usergroup contional array you would have your code like this, but obviously changing the X's for usergroup ID's.

Well, you will have to wait a few more hours yet.;) But the wait will be worth it...:)

I would have released it today (Friday) but after reconnecting my test vbulletin board since moving servers, the new server went down.:surprised:

Which put back the final testing of rebuilding the tables using the product.xml file. I've made changes to the main player file, which means the players available on this thread are rendered useless. These changes were needed to tighten security of the XEON player, which now uses a single PHP file to populate all 5 playlists, which are all held in the database. A few cosmetic changes, have been made to XEON player, and I've not yet put this version on public view.

Initially, it will only be a vBulletin version only and not support a vBa CMPS block module. This will be released later in the week as an addon.

All will be revealed later today...:)

This modification has attracted so much interest, and the possibilities people have used it for, have astounded me! Thanks to all that have supported this modification, in one way or another.

Please note, I will send out an update email to all that have clicked 'Install' to inform you of the major addon release and the new url will be included in the email. Support will remain only on vbulletin.org.

I'm not sure why, but there are no options for the vbPlayer in my usergroup page. In fact, there are no options for the vbPlayer in my admincp at all. Is something wrong with my installation?

Though the link from my navbar does bring up the player and the music works for me.

When I filled in the link with my site stats, I got an error page.

'Time-outs' on FTP is normally caused by your web host setting restrictions on uploading via FTP

syrus.xl

how could I track the ammount of listens each track has?

It couldn't be done as it stands at the moment, since there's no way of getting that information. This mod is XML based and uses no SQL queries, therefore it doesn't store any information in the database.

If the ID3 Tags are present in the mp3 track then it will read the data (only this version supports this feature).

All you do is enter in the XML file all data for the track except the 'title' - leave this blank. It should then read the ID3 Tag.

Try going to ACP -> vBa CMPS -> Edit Modules -> Then select the title of the block you wish to remove. On the next page you will need to select 'Delete' from the dropdown in the 'Select an action'. You then should receive the Confirmation Screen to delete the module.

I know this is for 3.6.3, but will this new version also work with 3.5.X?

It has been reported to work on 3.5.4 - it only adds some extra tables to your database, but doesn't change any existing vBulletin tables.

So in theory it should work with no problems.

yes thats the one. i put the code in for navbar. worked fine. shows up. moved files in forum root. did that. move admin file in, did that. but the file with the images, {like member select ones} i did not move. would that be problem? if is where do they go?
also i did move xml in through plugins also. but still cant get to open plus there is nothen for where to select users permissions for the player

The XML file is a Product file, hence it needs to be imported through the Product system, not the Plugin System.

here is what the navbar loos like:

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function log_out()
{
ht = document.getElementsByTagName("html");
ht[0].style.filter = "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.BasicImage(grays cale=1)";
if (confirm('$vbphrase[sure_you_want_to_log_out]'))
{
return true;
}
else
{
ht[0].style.filter = "";
return false;
}
}
//-->

I would like to receive a simple template edit problem. I want to include the mp3 player link on mys ite besides the navbar. I can not get the mp3 player to popup in the defined width and height. Can anyone help me figure out the html coding that I should use if I was to place the mp3 player link in my left hand column? Thank you

How do I change the code so it reads the direct path to the url? Im still having some problems in IE 7. Anyone get this to work? Thank you

The url in the main popup code you need to change from relative to absolute urls.

Example: (the Popup code)
<!-- vbMp3 Player Start -->
<if condition="$show['member']">
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--

function OpeniPod(){
iPod = window.open('http://www.domain.com/forum_name/ipod.htm','iPod','directories=no,height=430,width= 190,location=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,status=no, toolbar=no')

return false;
}

-->
</script>
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="#" onclick="return OpeniPod()">vbPlayer</a></td>
</if>
<!-- vbMp3 Player End -->
Obviously you would need to change the url in bold to reflect your site.

Other code you may need to change to absolute would be in the ipod.htm file - edit this with Notepad and change accordingly.

Are you using a custom vBulletin style? If this is the case then it maybe coded differently. You would need to look for a line referring to Calendar, unless you have removed this from your navbar.

With custom styles it may have been moved to another template. Normally, these would either be the header or FORUMHOME templates. I've not heard of the Epic style/skin so I can't give you precise directions.

Isnt the player supposed to be in the admin cp?

That is not this version. This version relies on XML population therefore requires no database adjustments or SQL queries.

The version that uses the vBulletin ACP can be found here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=129641).

Probably this version at the moment - since the other version requires a fix in the product XML file, which I have not got around to doing yet.

This error does not relate to this modification, this mod uses no database SQL entries. It is entirely XML driven.

This would be the case of the player not reading the mp3 file correctly. Make sure you have done the following:

1. No spaces are used in the mp3 file name. The player will associate a space with %20 and therefore you will not hear the track.

2. Make sure you do not use foreign characters or non alphanumeric characters.

3. Check the path is correct to the mp3

You add songs by editing the XML file included in the .zip. Just enter the url and name of track in the file, like the examples.

The example tracks are no longer valid links, therefore you should change them to mp3's of your own.

This problem normally occurs if the player is not reading the mp3 file name correctly. See this link (http://www.digitalport.co.uk/digital/showthread.php?t=74499&garpg=2) for details on this FAQ.

I made the change to the file name. The file is currently named this way: Praise_To_God.mp3

And it is stored at wikiupload.com But I still get no sound or advancement and the play button just flashes at me when I attempt to play the song.At the bottom of the pop up box is continually reads: transferring data from wikiupload.com

What might be wrong here?

Is this named mp3 file reflected in the XML file? I'm not familar with wikiupload.com, does it support full url addresses to files stored? Meaning the end of the url ends with .mp3 and nothing else, or the player will try to read this as a flashvar, which isn't designed for use with this player.

should I just put al the sound files in the xml file?

All the urls to your mps's should be entered in the XML file, along with the track title. The XML file is read by the flash player file, it doesn't read mp3's directly.

If it's not showing in any IE version you may need to update your Flash player ActiveX plugin. It was designed with Flash 8.0, therefore you would need Flash Player 8.0 or higher installed.

You can find the latest version here (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash)

Yes, it is possible... it can be done with either using vb, or creating a new php file and templates. If you're not sure how to do this then I'll add a package to do it.

Which player did you want the template page for? The ipod looking mp3 player or the Xeon, the difference is some dimension settings which I need to enter in the template file.

I installed the newest player in my 3.6.5 but I am having no luck getting it to work! 1. I am getting a message on top of the player box: Warning, please enable flash and java before you can use. Does this mean in you PC or in VB Admin?? 2. When I upload an URL, it says the admin name not found and I checked the settings close and I believe everything is correct!!! can someone help??

syrus.xl

It's a debugging line built into the code, and doesn't necessarily mean you don't have Flash or Javascript disabled in your browser. If you're installing for the first time check that you have uploaded the flashobject.js file - if this is missing then you will get this error.

auctionguy

All the files are based around an XML driven system. There is only the one template edit required in the navbar. The mod itself uses the XML file, which you must configure for mp3's to play.

The only thing that i can figure out is that 1. I have the Dual Nav Bar, does it matter where yours is positioned?, I wouldn't think so and 2. Would I need to remove that bit of code to allow others to use it, for me to use it?? Thats all I've got!! I really want this thing to work, great mod!!

I'm coding this for both versions, it will just be a new template - and a url you'll need to add/change.

Is there a way to let the player stop playing after the last song or after x minutes.

I stored the mp3 files on my own server so if members let the player play and go to sleep, that will eat al my bandwith in a few days.

Ive added mp3 files to my server and when I add them to the playlist and mark them as approved they dont show up in the mod. Seems no matter what I do approval stays at "0".

Also when I update the stream mp3 file from yes to no that doesnt update either.

Seems when you add a song as stream it doesnt save or let you change the streaming approval option after you save it. I set stream to false and it added it with no problems.

This question does not relate to this modification. This mod is XML driven not MySQL.:confused:

Okay let me better rephrase the question as the mod isnt working correctly for me. Heres what Ive tried.

Installed the mod no problems. When I add a mp3 file as streaming, and admin has to approve the mp3 file first. Im not able to approve it so that its added to the list. When I click approve and save it still shows "0" and wont change that setting. Thus wont add to the playlist.

So then I try again with another file. But if I add the mp3 files with streaming as false then it adds to the player with approval set to no. It then shows in the player but wont actually play ( and yes its linking to the correct mp3 file ).

quick question..

did I get this right, you can't actually upload mp3s directly to the server...but only active URLs to mp3s?

is that right? or is there way/setting to allow users to have direct mp3 uploads to the player?

Sorry, I do not have enough patience to read through 31 pages here. Wondering if later on, you can create a module that works for all media extension and all video (YouTube, Google Video...)

Also, will this module work on 3.6.8?

syrus.xl

This is actually an old modification, and has been updated to use the vBulletin database. Only the Pro+ version will be able to import video media from sites such as YouTube, Google Video, etc. This is in development, and uses a completly new technology which is capable of stripping all unwanted data from videos held on external websites.

All modifications we release, work on all vBulletin versions - totally independent.
