I've been a vBulletin member for a few years now, and maybe 3 years ago something went wrong and I had to upload both .php and .php4 files. Now, I just updated from 3.54 to 3.6, and again had to upload both .php and .php4 files.

I don't know if that is the reason, but when I'm trying to install a certain mod, I receive this error:

Can you please advise why this would come up? I'm trying to install IP 2.3 on a newly upgraded 3.6 vbulletin. I receive this error, and the coder told me to ask vB because my vBulletin install is messed up (which it is).

Can anyone please advise?

You shouldnt have to have both .php and .php4 files uploaded for vBulletin to work properly, it sounds as if you're hosting configuration is severly messed up, or a horribly botched vBulletin install.

I'd concentrate on why there is that problem before i went any further in the board.

My forum is semi-big board status, with 100,000+ posts and 10,000+ members. I've just let things be and usually installed mod's that worked fine. Since i upgraded to 3.6 I just began to receive this problem. Is it definitely related to the .php/.php4 issue, or is their a quick resolution to the error message?

There are ways you can use an htaccess file to reroute a request for a .php4 file to a .php file.. but I'm not sure if that works internally or not =/
