DESCRIPTION

Have you ever wanted your users to be able to define who exactly can view the information in any particular post? vS-Hide Hack Resurrection, a vBulletin 3.5.x - 3.8.x expansion, features a set of handy tags that together give your users an opportunity to do just that:

: defines the minimum number of posts required to read the content within.
[SHOWTOGROUPS]: defines the usergroups that may read the content within.
[HIDE-THANKS]*: defines that the content within may only be read after the person says thank you by pressing a special button. (Expanded Edition Only)
[HIDE-REPLY]*: defines that the content within may only be read after the person replies. (Expanded Edition Only)
[STU]: defines the users that may read the content within. (Expanded Edition Only)

*(1): The HIDE-THANKS tag comes with a full-featured Post Thank You System. See features for further details.

Why "Resurrection"?

The reason is simple: This hack has been written many times by various people, and nobody ever got their version working correctly.
This product presents a professional version written from scratch, and there are no backdoors through which hidden information can be illegally retrieved. Unlike other systems, this one works correctly with the vBulletin Post Cache.

Usage Syntax:

Shortcut code, can be mapped to any of the below ones. By default, it is mapped to HIDE-POSTS.

i have edited the usergroup but however i see no hide hack setting in forum settings...

The expanded edition lets you hide text by whether the user has replied or not, and by whether the user clicked thanks or not.
The free edition only lets you hide text by number of posts and by usergroup.

The expanded edition costs $24.99.

There is a HIDE-THANKS feature, when thank you is pressed, the end user receives reputation. Only featured in expanded edition though.

I got this error on the admincp straight after importing the product:

Site error: the file /usr/local/apache/www/crazyapes/myforumurl.com/htdocs/includes/visionscripts/psionic_hide/global_start.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_fre_4.3.so to be installed by the site administrator.

Posting requests to activate license won't speed up the process. It takes as much time as it does, and I won't see your request faster than I'll see your order. Your license has been activated.

You have to have reputation enabled, that's one. Reputation reset could be something you did wrong when you upgraded from 3.5, that's two. Please have patience, you don't need to bump your post every two hours, that's three. Thanks.

I have noticed, what ever you set the rep to be added for every thanks, it simply makes the total rep that...

So if you make it 10 reps for every thank you and someone says thank you, it simply gives them 10 reps total, even if they had 80 reps, it moves it to 10, it seems to be changing the total instead of giving them the specified amount...

I have tested this time and time again and im getting the same results...

All i want to do is give the user 1 rep for every thank you... can't be asking to much can it!

Psionic Vision, I do not know what to tell you. It's been 24 hours and I still have not got my license activated. I cannot download your product despite that you said my license is active. I have provided a screen shot showing you that my license is still pending. I've been waiting all night and all day to get this mod installed on my site. My site used to be on IPB and heavily used the hide-reply modification. So I am unable to open my new board up until this mod is installed. It could be a bug that appeared due to different hooks in 3.6 than in 3.5. Please post it as a bug in the visionscripts bugtracker. Thanks.

Make sure you've got the latest files uploaded. The object that is mentioned in the error is in the global_start.php, which you were supposed to update when you installed this version.

What does it say under "System Requirements"? I believe it says "Ioncube Loader", but perhaps my English is failing me. Or, perhaps I should move the section higher. :)

The statistics are correct. In the expanded edition, you need to upload one single folder. Therefore, it is counted as one File Uploads operation. :)

As for the time, well... I can install the expanded edition within two minutes, so I wrote that.

There is no reason to wait until later. Please download the latest package, open readme.html and follow the instructions. If done correctly, no problem will appear. This version of the hack has been tested on an unhacked vBulletin 3.6.0.

Make sure the product XML is installed and enabled. If that doesn't help, pm me with your ftp and admincp info, and I'll see what the problem is.

this is what i did,
uploaded the files, per the Read me ;)
edited the php files, and the template files, and per Read me ;)
then uploaded the product as per the read me ;) and I checked, and it was enabled..

sorry, i can't give you ftp as its a clients site..

I'm wanting to hide anything in code tags from everyone not in one particular usergroup. So far I've tried a few different things and have not found anything that has worked.

This works, but required the usage of code and for easiness sake, I want to be able to just use code instead. I've not poked around too much in your code yet, but I'm confident that you can change the tags to something else which is the straight forward bit. The complicated bit is to use an existing tag instead.

I've tried replacement variables, and moving a couple of things around in the edited vB files, but not found a solution yet.

With IE 7 i get an unknown javascript error if you hit the HIDE tag without clicked in the quick reply answer box before.

Example:
Click the "Quick Reply to this message" button to activate the "Quick Reply" box.
Click on the HIDE or STG toolbar button without clicking in the answer box first.
Enter anything in the popup and click okay. You should now see the error message on the bottom of your IE 7.

It is impossible to quote hidden content. The tags together with the content get replaced with ** HIDDEN CONTENT **

There are features for that in the Expanded Edition. You can also disable whatever tags you don't want.

That does not look like anything that could be caused by this hack. Most likely the version of the file you are uploading is not the original.
Anyway, please ask support questions for expanded edition at visionscripts.com.

If it's not useful to you, it is useful to someone else. Perhaps you just don't understand how to use it correctly. Also, there is such thing as a description of the hack, and it is available in the first post. I recommend you read those before you install hacks.

.... By design. Supermoderators and administrators can edit posts, so there is no reason to hide text from them, because they can always look at the source. Moderators also can see all hidden content with the forums they moderate.

I've installed the lite version and it doesn't seem to be working. I don't get any error messages but the content is not viewable. I've read through this thread, and double checked through the installation package but I can't seem to find my error.

I don't see anything. The buttons are there, and I can highlight the text, and click on the HIDE button, and then submit. The thread goes through as usual. There are NO error messages, but when you view the thread, nothing is visible. No image, no text. NADA. And when you reply to the thread, you still don't see anything. When I go to edit the post, I can see the post within the [HIDE] tags, but it's not visible.

You need to turn on forum and usergroup permissions and upload the latest copies of the files & product.

Correction: With the purchased version only. The limited edition does not require ioncube...

Doesn't make any difference. Zip is best if you are running windows xp on your local computer and don't have any archiver software installed.

found a little "bug", after install i can click in the readme.html that i installed the hack, but it redirecting me to the 3.5.4 hack version, not to the 3.6.0 version here.

The reason I said Jesus is that it's been said a lot of times that unless stated otherwise, a 3.5.x hack works with all 3.5.x versions of vBulletin, and 3.6.x hack works with all 3.6.x versions of vBulletin.

This is the 8th+ attempt at the install of this product. I even loaded this product up on a brand new vbulliten site and this was/is the only plug in running. I and three other people have confirned that each and every line of the install insturctions were followed to the letter. We used three different sites and we spent loads of hours trying to make it work.

It appears that the class_postbit.php is not seeing the $hhr->parse_bbcode object/function.

Any suggestions to a solution?

Currently I have deactived postbit_display_complete hook for this modification so that the site does not produce this error.

Yes, you can enable/disable it per forum. It is not hard to use either, you just press a button and the "Thank You" is saved.

Hi there psionic! If I want the VBCMPS News module not to display hidden text... I had to add the parsehide function to the news.php so the text would be processed and hidden if nececairy.

Since your rewrite in 2.7.x, I get an error that function ParseHide is not defined while im viewing the news on CMPS.
Is the function renamed or must it be hooked into a global start to be available in for instance CMPS etc?

That feature has been a paid feature of this hack ever since its coming into existence. Perhaps you are referring to another hide-reply hack, that may be free, but this one never was.

Make sure you have a legitimate 2.7.0+ expanded edition of this hack. There you do not need to refresh. But since the concern is about expanded edition, any support is to be carried over at visionscritps in the custom forums.

These are not large templates so it is more efficient to have them everywhere rather than run a conditional on every page.

It's not better serverload-wise, but it is better from the development point of view - if I need those templates elsewhere then I won't have to break my head over my the tempaltes are not cached.
