PosterBar (Information Bar) v1.0

PosterBar (Information Bar for members who have never posted) v1.0
By: Infantrymen
Inspired By: Slapyo's Information Bar for Guests Modification.
Works for Vb 3.0-3.6
Easy, about 5-10 mins

This modification will display a Windows type information bar across the top of the browser for members who have never posted. When the member clicks the information bar they will be sent to the forum of your choice to add a post.

* 5.25.06 Cleaned up the code, updated.

Please make sure you click INSTALL if you use it.

Yes, you can have them go to a forum or go directly to a new post in a certain forum. I perfer it without the sound... (your members probably will too...:p)

The improve headers hack is awesome, but I dont like members who only read complaining about a big chunk of words telling them to participate. This is the ideal complemention hack, as it uses just a little space at the top.

Thnk you Roms

Thank you Roms

Thanks, I'm thinking of making one to work for a number of types of members soon (guest, unconfirmed, inactive poster, never posted...). :)

Looks like another very useful hack, just wondered if anyone could clarify whether this will work together with the Welcome Headers mod posted by Ted S here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=99579 ?

. . . or is it a choice of using one or the other?

Try going over the install steps again and make sure you've done the modifications in the right areas and the the URL pathways are all correct..

it's everything correct.

Everything can't be correct because the java and the warning icon isn't showing up. make sure you have uploaded everything and you might want ot try using the full path for all the URL's...

I just visited your site... goinfantry. Nice! What do we need to change to advise people to register?

And will it work for posting and registering, or can it only be installed once?

Thanks!

If you look in this forum there is a modification like this specifically for registrations (ie: Slapyo's Information Bar for Guests Modification). :)

Installed.... :)

I think I tested it right, so we'll have to see if I get screamed at or whether new members start posting to the thread I set up.

Just for clarity, is this the code I eliminate so the sound doesn't play?

<embedsrc="posterbar/posterbar.wav" autostart="true" loop="0" hidden="true"></embed>

I can't hear anything anyway (too low a sound wav file?), so I thought I would delete it, or perhaps use the microsoft click sound?

Regards,
Badger
