I don't think you really want this - you would get an awful lot of pop-ups - very few people (if any) will always have the same ip address.

but i realy do want it... because i want to authenticate them with it... to stop users having several users on same account....

Sorry, but I really don't think you fully understand how IP addresses work.
Anyone accessing via Dialup will have a different ip address everytime they connect, and most people who have cable/adsl/dsl/other high speed access will change ip address over time (anything from days to months). What about people accessing from home and work (and friends) ?

Don't forget our AOL users who will change an IPADDRESS on every page.

they gone be asked on login if they wanna change it, it's only for "paid users" anyway and i do ofcourse understand how it works... not that dumb ..
And this is something i do want, iv'e been looking around for it and figured i could ask in here. I have found the ipadresse in sql but not sure how i can get it changed by the users himself when login in if it's different from the one in user.ipadress
We dont have any aol users and dont want any of them :-)
I've seen this on a site, dont remeber what or where but....
most people here in norway keep same ip for a long periode of time, and this is for "online" event where i want to make sure the user are authenticated and can only be logged in once and from the ip they have in user.ipadress

Not only aol, but several of its subsideraies as well use their proxy system.
Anyway,
If you insist then you will need to probally take out a service request because I don;'t think anyone else wants this, or needs this.

hmm strange, it's for an "authenticated" service i need it for, not reading the board itself.. Any tip on how i could fix this ? it's the "popup" that ask for change of ip for use of "paid subscriptions" that i have the problem with, the actual script that shall authenticat them vs the user.ipadress i can fix myself.. But not sure how to get IP from user and check vs user.ipadresse if user is a paid subscriber and the user.ipadresss != current ip adresse
