View Full Version : Remove expired options redirect page?

I had a user complain because they were in the middle of a post, and a message popped up telling them they had options that were expiring, and then redirected them to the store so they can renew them - however this auto-redirect caused them to lose their post. Is there a way to make this a user-selectable option, or something that emails or pm's them instead, so if it pops up while they are making a post they dont lose their post?

I'll figure out a better way to expire the options.

Or just a setting that says "recieve redirect page for notice of expiring options?" yes/no for the user cp part.

Well, that has to be changed then to expire the option as well.
If there are expiring items, they will have to expire first as well. So it's a bit more complex, but I think I could do it in time for v1.5.6

it also seems that gifts they were given by other people cause that 'option is expiring' page to pop up - which isnt too relevant and sometimes bothers them - because then they have 'lost' a gift, and dont really want to rebuy it for themselves. Seems like when an option someone else has purchased for you, like a gift, expires, it should just expire, and not pop up a page redirecting you to the list of options.

What do you mean? We have a time period on gifts - they last for 14 days - is that what you mean, or is there another option I dont know about?

Give Gifts is one of the 5 or so options that do not expire yet.
So setting the expires in X days for that should have no effect at this time.

I would also like to see the redirect page gone.
I've been having a different problem with it.
When the option expires it first returns a php error referring to functions.php (Sorry it was too quick to take a note of)
Then it takes me to a redirect page that isn't attached to any template. (see screenshot)
I think this is all related to this post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=974179&postcount=3340)
It's annoying though as the only expiring option I use is the arcade pass so I can only test it once a week.

Yes. Is there away to get rid of the redirect?

Why not alert them on the next page load?

Is it right for the redirect page to have no template attached to it? Mine just appears as an all white background.

OK this is turning into a pain.
One of my users just reported the following error when her arcade pass expired:
1. Fatal error: Call to undefined function: print_portal_output() in /home/moonclamp/public_html/site/forum/includes/functions.php on line 4175
This is obviously something to do with vbadvanced portal
2. She then refreshed the page and got that annoying non-templated options expired redirect message
3. Then she got a system message:
The points / store Product XML you have imported does not match the same Version number as the PHP files uploaded. Please reupload all PHP files to your forum's root folder. Then re-import the Product XML file with Allow Overwrite set to Yes.
I've read the fix for this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=113444&highlight=The+vbBux+%2F+vbPlaza+Product+XML), however I cannot understand why this should happen if I haven't done anything with the points store for several weeks.

The redirect page should be fixed in v1.5.6
