View Full Version : How do I get the arcade access to work?
I turned off access under v3arcade and turned on 'Can this group purchase Arcade Access?' in vbPlaza for each usergroup, but am not able to access the arcade.

I had the same problem guys..
after setting that option in the usergroup manager you have to then set 'No' for the Arcade Permissions in the usergroup manager (same page) for can play arcade/ can view arcade.

The way to setup Arcade Access to make it so users MUST purchase access is quite simple:
Lets use Registered Users for example:
1) Set the arcade permissions to no for 'Can View Arcade' and 'Can Play Arcade.'
2) Then set the vbBux/vbPlaza option for "Can Purchase Arcade Access."
This will make it so all registered users will not be able to play the arcade unless they purchase the "Arcade Access" item from the vbPlaza.
If you do not wish for the usergroup to have to purchase Arcade Access, then simply set the Arcade Permissions for "Can View Arcade" and "Can Play Arcade" to Yes. And leave the "Can Purchase Arcade Access" set to No for the vbBux / vbPlaza option.

Thanks man. I had 'can view' still on.

thats excellent CMX, thanks for explaining that..
now..on the flip side of that....
if i want regged users to access and play arcade, but without having to buy access with pass...thats sorted above...but theres no clear indication anywhere that the user is being charged to play a game??
is there anything different that neeeds setting up to get this to work, or is it done using those settings u mentioned above, but its just not that obvious?

its a no go for me.. tried it but it won't work :(
i feel so noob or something near to that because i don't get it working...
this is what i did
on my site it was required to have at least 1 post to be able to play arcade.
so i made an user test
gave him 50 postcount
1000000 points
so logged in and bought arcade access
and then i get this error
test, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
well the account is enabled so that is not the issue
normally a user is only allowed to play arcade if they are member of arcade permissions... so thats what is making it extra confusing for me

By default all users are charged to play the arcade, I'll be adding a new usergroup setting for vbBux / vbPlaza so that certain usergroups can play for free anyways.
This hack will modify the permission variables to GIVE the arcade permissions if they have purchased Arcade Access. If its not working properly, I'd need to access your Admin CP with Can Administer Plugins to try and track down the issue. It's possible there's a bug that doesnt affect all v3 Arcade Owners as its working for me using the above steps at www.vbplaza.com.

It says Cost to Play ahead of time, I dont think a confirmation page would be a good idea for most.

I have tried everything i can think of to get the arcade pay per play working and it just wont. i have set can view/can play to no for the usergroup and set can purchase arcade access and my test user still cannot access the arcade even when the account has both arcade access AND arcade pass purchased it just shows the normal permission denied page, also it is not showing a cost to play nor is it charging my test account to play a game, i have spend hours on this and have given up now, i cant spend any more time on it. i have vbplaza 1.5.3 with v3 arcade 1.0.5, i have reverted templated edited templates, checked, double checked and triple checked all the access options and playments and nothing. I am just going to have to accept that for some reason it wont charge users and the access wont work and try to think of some other way to get my users to actually post rather than just join, get the 20 post minimum then just play the arcade and not post.

It displays the cost to play under the description in v3 Arcade.
And in the game display area by the Play Game link for ibProArcade.
Goto http://www.vbplaza.com/forums/ and sign up to see how its displayed there.

Great, that's weird to know that there may be some kind of issue with vB 3.5.3, but good to know as well.
Thanx for supporting vbPlaza!
