What does this do?
This is a Jukebox system, you can add and listen to/play videos/songs, users can rate the media, comment it, and much more!
Updates:

0.9.0 - Total Rewrite, several new features, template overhall.
0.8.1 - Fixed several bugs that I overlooked at first distribution.

Known Bugs:

File Writing Error - Fix by Replicators, See this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=927024&postcount=343) post.

To Install:
1. Import the product xml file in this folder.
2. Upload all files in the upload folder.
3. Create a folder named media in your forumroot (or another name, you can edit the name of the folder you want to upload media in, in the ACP settings. CHMOD 777
3. Enjoy.

I have updated the readme script slightly, tweaked some things, and so on. Also added several screenshots of the program.

It should be fine now, just upgrade by overwritting the product xml file, and upload all the files over again.

Sorry, rush release, was in a huge hurry last night and overlooked alot.

For those of you that are having problems accessing the Jukebox, I think I have gotton it to default user permissions, but if not, you MUST go into each usergroup you want to allow to use the jukebox and configure them.

Did you import the xml file in the products menu?

Yes, any 3.5.x build it will work with.

You must have the mysql version specified above to install as of right now.

EDIT, I believe I found the bug that is causing this:
* Fixed bug when doing a multi-line INSERT on a table with an
auto_increment key which was not in the first part of the key.

Uhh, I will have the script work around if you are on an older version of mysql, but for right now you have to have 4.0.4

As for people that have a lower mysql version, I will look into the problem and try to find a workaround.

I did. And went into my file system. It just loads for a really long time. And then nothing appears.

Can you answer putting media into the jukebox step by step? Because I uploaded it to the media file in my ftp, then I went to my jukebox and there was nothing there. So I clicked add media and uploaded the file again. It loaded for ten minutes then stopped I went back to the jukebox. Nothing there.

I can't ignore that error. The media gets added to me media folder but not to my jukebox... What's the point of just storing music when I can't even listen to it?

I'm currently not @ home so do not have access to the most recent code.

But, I found that a very recent feature I added right before release is not closed properly, and is affecting the Jukebox system.

I'm really sorry for the inconvienience, if you do not want the Jukebox to be active, go to the Jukebox Settings page in the ACP, close it and specify a reason there, and I will have an update so it is functioning correctly with a couple hours.

EDIT: I quickly administered a temporary fix to the files, a more perminant fix will be released when I get home, but for now, just download the zip and just reupload jukebox.php.

The extension of the file you want to link or upload to the database is not allowed.
The allowed extensions are:
mpg,mpeg,avi,mov,wmv,mp3,mp2,mpg,mp4,wav,ogg

The file I used the link to is an mp3 file so I don't see what the problem is...

Actually, I think you misunderstand me.
I have an existing library of files that I don't necessarily want to load onto another server. I just want to have pointers to the original locations (on a seperate server on the internet.

I can understand that I can upload .pls and .m3u files.

That error usually gets created when the xml files you uploaded havn't created themselves into your database. Are you sure you uploaded the XML files to the FTP in the right folder?

From Webhost manager, I found mySQL only 4.0.25-standard, that is why the table wasn't created.

Is it any way that you can make it install the table with mySQL 4.0.25?

I have installed this hack - but it does not let me upload media. Why is that? Also - I did enabled my usergroup to be able to upload media.

This could be very useful on my forums and i cannot wait until it is alpha. One thing i have noticed when adding a audio/video files is the place where you wanna add a link is too small,some addresses may be huge where that audio file is so i would recommend expanding that box.

This mod could go far if done right,if only there was a way it could encode before going to the ftp but that would be nearly impossible,or just too hard to do. Also would be cool to have forums inside the jukebox,like one per genre of music,etc. to keep it more organised. I like where this is going though, and by all means is it possible to where the link source of the file is hidden?I think that should be a priority as nobody will want their files linked to other sites,not all of us have unlimited bandwidth not to mention a data pipe that could do that much. I am gonna have my jukebox disabled until a alpha version is done,and it hides the link source of the files that get uploaded.

Works Great. Install did not put tables into the database, so I opened the xml file up in a editor and manually added the table. Works like a charm now!

So the problem is that these are not being installed with older versions of mysql but as loing as you do them manualy your fine. Worked for me anyways... :)

Well, I am down to one last issue. Maybe one of you got through it and can help me now :)

I uploaded a video. If I click the link under "Highest Rated Media" the video opens in windows media player which is fine. Now the problem is when I click the link under "Most Accessed Media" or "List of Media", i get this message: There are no more entries to view.

It worked the very first time I tried this right after the install and additions to the database (when I clicked the media, I was taken to a template that displayed it, not right to my windows media player) Now, no go...

When installing, please use the following instructions instead of the ones attached to this thread:

CHMOD 777 through your ftp program (smartftp, wsftp, etc.) or through your cpanel. If you are using cpanel, go to your file manager, click the directory, then in the right column, click set permissions, and make it 777 (writable).

Something I am not understanding........

I installed it precisely to the instructions.

When I go to the "Jukebox" button, everything comes up fine. I am able to upload media and its displays as if I uploaded it ok, but when I go to play it the windows media players thingie just sits there.

Check that you filenames (movies uploaded) don't contain spaces as I have noticed this doesn't work. Secondly, if you do not have the updated codec packs for your windows media player, then you will not be able to see some videos.

Open the video in your media player directly, can you see it then? or are you getting a error. If you would lke me to check it out for you, pm my the link to your site and I will check it out tonight. Most likely, from what I have seen and tested, it is your codecs. Mine doing thing says upload went fine when i goto play just sits there... i look at the server filefolder media and file is not there.... i have to manually upload file via ftp to get it to work... i think though it something ive done not really sure what yet....

If the file is not there, then your permissions are not set. Change your upload folder to CHMOD 777 (Writable). That should fix it.

i did see that post and none of my failed to upload files have spaces
funny thing is that my test file for just under 2mb had spaces in the name but it uploaded ... just to be clear here i am not pickin on anything i think this hack is awsome

another one I've just discovered is that if you try to use a url for an mp3 file it doesn't like it and refuses to do it.

I've got an mp3 file on my server at http://www.realitytvforums.co.uk/ka/track1.mp3It's only a tiny file just a snippet of something that I can't even remember what it is.

You can happily use it to try the import from a url.

Of course it could be because I put the http:// bit in and that it isn't the same server as where I was importing it to.

I think you might be ok since the installer doesn't actually install the database tables... First try importing the sql into your database. If you don't get syntax errors, I think you might be fine.

Welp, I tried to submit a bug report but wasn't able, so I'll do it here.

I'm on mac os x 10.4.4, using safari 2.0.3 and firefox. I recognize firefox isn't working, and I'm assuming the problem with firefox is going to be the same with safari since they're using similar browser engines.

The bug: mp3 media does not play in Safari. (it does play on windows IE, I checked). Basically the page opens, the player is visible, but an error message comes up:

"The playlist format is not recognized".

Nothing plays.

it MAY be a problem with windows media player on mac. I may write a js detect that forces quicktime instead of wmp if platform is mac.

I made a couple of improvements to this.

First off, to get around the #$%^ browser media player problems (I'm on a mac, as are many of my users, and the player straight doesn't work on the mac), I swapped it out for a flash mp3 player. So no video there.

I also commented out the code that forces the forum url into the path to the audio file. My audio file sits on my root site folder and is linked to already all over the web. forcing the folder to be in the forum just plain sucked for me. I hope that that is something that can be changed in a final release -- give us the option to set our path to /forum/audio/ rather than forcing the forum url before the media/audio folder.

In Highest Rated column i get the direct link that makes me download the songs
Thought it would stream but either way
it's the same amount of bandwith right?
Also....the files that i manually uploaded into my media folder
One has spaces and one doesn't
They both work for downloadlinks but neither of em work otherwise
I have the latest version of Media Player installed
IE nor Firefox seem to work at all (except to download)


Is there a fix out there for it?
I love the jukebox..but would prefer for it to stream so no trouble will come my way due to copyright issues

You missed the file edit to Jukebox.php in this thread... and if your tables were already there... they more than likely are not correct... (missing the album field...)

STEP 6. In the jukebox.php file, find:

if ( $mid > $count['media'] ) :
eval(standard_error(fetch_error('jukebox_nonewer') ));
endif;

and DELETE IT. (This corrects the fact that you continuously get the NoNewer error phrase when clicking the media name to be viewed.)

if you have problems afterwards, I'd be happy to take a look...

My forum couldn't get enough of the old jukebox by Trafix and I was pleased to see this one.

It looks good, but, I can't get her to work on my forum as anything to do with the Jukebox creates an error like this:

Ok well, not to get anyone's hopes up, but I have a 50% stable (stable in the terms of, it runs) version of 0.9 running on my localhost. It's a complete rewrite, so the bugs have been large in number and I've been tackling them down for the last couple weeks.

The installer will be fixed in the next version, the mysql IF conditionals are messing up the install for people on normal 4.0.x MySql, I will be removing them for 0.9. I also have added support for over 50 new file formats, including flash formats, and a new optional flash extension player for MP3's, WAV's and so on.

The code is also alot more efficient, I have reduced the amount of queries on a page substantially and have also changed the templates ALOT.

I'll send out an update email for all those installed this when I have the new version up, but because of my previous track record, I would rather keep quiet about the actual release.

My server won't allow this, when people upload songs, it auto sets the CHMOD permissions to where people can't grab the file, and if i change it to 777 it wil go back to it. 755 is allowed on my server though, but not 777. I know there is nothing you can do about this though.

To upgrade you have to:
1. Upload all files in the zip to your forum root
2. Import the product in the zip (.xml file), make sure overwrite box is checked.
3. Revert any customized Jukebox templates you may have.

In response to Mark's post about adding the "album" field to the DB architexture, that is not nessessary with 0.9.0, I have removed this, at least temporarely from all of the code.

You have another plugin that is conflicting with the Jukebox because the line it is corrisponding to is:
($hook = vBulletinHook::fetch_hook('global_complete')) ? eval($hook) : false;

vJukebox does not do any type of vBulletin native division function, nor does it use a global complete hook.
