Eh, I get this when I click on "Jukebox" on my nav bar: You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

How do I change permissions for the Jukebox?

Go to you admincp, edit your usergroups so that it rebuilts the bitfields. You can set your permissions for each usergroup there as well.

I just changed how the system reports errors and I didn't fix that on the mysql end yet. But, basically that means that your directory is not CHMOD'ED 777 (Which is "yourforumroot/media" by default)

Thought I would give it a trial on a test install seemed to install fine.

Doesnt like filenames with spaces tho. wmp seems to throw a wobbly and say cant play. Maybe it needs to somehow replace spaces with %20 ?

I would suggest to the mod author to use a Flash-based MP3 player for this mod, this will resolve the issue of downloading music. I could help out if so needed.

I wound up creating a flash player for us to get around browser and platform incompatibilities (quicktime? windows media player? etc), since we're just throwing mp3's into it, though the flash player will wind up working with some external video as well.

Jinzora is a big portal looking jukebox, maybe one of the biggest around, no vb integration that I know of tho, even tho it does have a connector system in place for integration to several portal sytems.

I tried it, it is pretty much not users friendly at all. the installation is complicated. I can never finish the installation, the tables can't be created, I tried to manual add table but totally lots of errors appear.

I gave up that script. Either I will try a simple one or I will pay few hundred bucks to have a full features music portal.

@nitro : are you from Vbportal.com ?

Strange iv never had a problem using it, allways installed fine for me. Your probably better getting the tar.gz and unpacking it on site then all the dir/file perms should be good from go.

He probably means the php.ini setting which governs this but can also be occasionally overridden in htaccess, but its host dependant.

It worked...the song was uploaded...but for some reason or the other...it doesn't play the complete song but just a part of it and then stops...whereas the actual file has the complete song in it...

I suspect with mysql 3 MyISAM could be a problem. Also Jinzora doesnt require mysql at all its an option, you can cache your media files in a file datastore or mysql, unless thats changed recently I am a couple of small version numbers behind but mysql is not yet listed as a "requirement". ;)

The song is 5.91 Mb and the lenght is 3.06 minutes!

I have a lot of (users own) MP3's on my forum and this seems cool.

If it, hasnt already been mentioned.... some sort of automated 'time out" and disposal of MP3's uploaded might be cool. So there is, say, a 3 month maximum allowed stay for each tune in the Jukebox and and then the tune gets disposed of (and removed from the server database to save space)

Am I saying something dumb? Is there provision for this already?

See our database keeps getting larger.. its a worry, and we need a solution.

What I mean is - the ammount of 'stuff' we have to back up - keeps growing. A lot of that is down to our MP3's.

If there was some automated 'time limit' for us keeping ouir members MP3's on our server it would be good.

(And Yes they are kept seperate from the database.)

If anybody is having a issue where the server auto-CHMOD's the files that people upload to 600 then do this..

Open jukebox.php

Find:

$result=move_uploaded_file($_FILES['mediafile']['tmp_name'], DIR.'/'.$jukebox->url.$filename);

Add After:

chmod(DIR.'/'.$jukebox->url.$filename, 0640);

You can change the 0640 to whatever CHMOD you want but 640 works for me.

May i suggest to Cole2026 to put this fix in the post so all know, cause i am sure i ain't the only one who had this problem.

I think this is a really amazing feature and will come in very handy.

As for that guy who kept stating about licenses to stream music, it can be sure to stream your own music, which isn't against the law, for example if you have your own band.

Also, I wanted to offer this up as a change to be made in the future: The Highest Rated Media were showing up as downloadable links rather than being played in the player. For us this is a huge problem as it violates our agreements with BMI and ASCAP (links should allow people to play our music but not download). So I changed this in the jukebox_media_toprated template:

I've been doing alot of client work lately so haven't had a whole lot of time for this.

But anyways,

I've gone through several major code-rewrites and have not liked how things have come out. This time I'm trying a vBAgallery approach, giving the jukebox it's own folder and such. I have alot of time over spring-break to finish everything off and am planning on just bumping the version number to 1.5 at release.

After this release I'll check the support block and have some official support going out as well. :)

playlist would be more usefull than..... instead of coding Author, comments, and descriptions of the song... who cases all those, all you need to know is the tittle of the song, and the artist.....playlist.....this would be enough....

Any update on that, or is it something you could tell me so I could fix it myself. Since I'm dealing with video with mine, the full screen would be a very nice to have.

To fix the actual filename being displayed on top rated with the current version.

The Top Rated songs will show the link to the actual MP3 file, and when clicked it will ask the user if he/she would like to download it.

Edit the jukebox_media_toprated template and replace everything in it with the code above and it will no longer show the actual file, preventing users from downloading the media.

It doesn't come with a flash mp3 player. Where can I find one that works with this? It works with IE when I tell it not to use a flash player. But when I do, it just has a white box where the player's supposed to go.

same problem i was having, al least i believe it's occuring with any file larger than 2mb, so i did the wise thing, i uninstalled this hack and installed the LDM (Links and Download Manager) it's Great!, it allows you to play music, videos, upload photos,files, in my opinion, i'm happer using this hack than the others, mostly for the fact that i had the vbgallery, jukebox installed, well i removed them and now am just using the LDM. try it, it works great

I fixed two issues that I had with this today (I've been hacking mine to pieces).

Here was my player:

I had two issues. One, the big white box. This is because while Mozilla is smart enough to ignore some tags, IE isn't. So IE was parsing BOTH the Mozilla player and the IE player. It could render one and not the other, so I ended up with the double-box.

Adding:


style="*display:none;"

To the end of the object tag causes IE to skip it. Mozilla skips it anyway. This removed the doublesized object box, and renders just the one player per browser.

Secondly, after I fixed that, I noticed that the player itself didn't blend in with my background - the box around it was still white. I added:

To the object call, and what I ended up with is this:

Maybe I am in idiot. I have read all 29 pages of this thread, and I my jukebox is still not working. I changed the CHMOD in the media folder to 777, added the php.ini file, and every other fix noted here. Still with no success. Is it possible for someone to look at my problem? The one thing really killing me with this hack is the lack of usergroup file-count permissions. There's nothing really stopping a new user from signing up and uploading 500 megs of stuff.

Nah, Microstats just tosses the server load at the bottom of your page. For some reason your page output in that particular template has no whitespace where the actual applet code is.

If the template is at all customized, try reverting it. If not, it looks like something's up with the way it imported. Try pasting this code in jukebox_mediadisplay - this is my un-edited default template for it.

Just want to add again, this hack really, really needs a definable limit on # of files uploaded per Usergroup.

Right now if I allow regular members to upload, there's nothing stopping someone from registering to my site and chain-uploading 100 gigs of files 10MB at a time.

Note how it's all one big line, no breaks. It looks like your CSS renders properly, but as soon as the actual page code is parsed something goes nuts. Do you have any header mods installed? And have you tried it on the default/unedited skin?

This is exactly why I'm waiting patiently with my fingers crossed for Cole to at least post in this thread about usergroup permissions. If you have members you trust, you can install this hack. Blindly leaving it wide open to standard users however is a bad move.

I don't even see a reason to use anything other than the flash player, since it's the most browser/platform-independant choice anyhow.

Sorry if this has been posted before in one of the previous pages but I have been attempting to upload music from a CD to the jukebox but only receive this message: Could not find phrase 'jukebox_fieldmissing'.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do ?? do I need to convert the CD to an MP3 format and if so, what are some of the better free programs to use for this ???

you can try using itunes or musicmatch to convert to mp3 files.

for the error did you put the authors name in, you must fill this box before you submitt. I had the same error and that cured it.

some good coder should re-write this whole hack cuz its a very good hack. But should add-on to it, where the upload actually works and you can make song categoreys and all the rest of the features requested. I've only been able to successfully upload two songs that were small filesized, all the rest in my juke box are link hosted. SOMEONE RE-WRITE THIS AND FIX IT UP! :)

lol, i was able to upload 1 song
i went into my jukebox_media table in the sql database and i made a upload to use from there, and it worked that way
as far as the phrases, they are coded wrong cuz i went and made a phrase for

and i still got the same can't find phrase code, so this means its not coded to load the phrases right. i will try and look into the codes, i might be able to fix it.

ok i got a few phrase locations found there is a few more but they are in admin cp so no biggy
go to admincp---> Languages & Phrases---> Phrase Manager---> then at the bottom of the list you will see add phrase click there.

The main reason for the phrases being messed up in 3.6+ is that certain fields within some tables were taken out in 3.6 beta1 or somewhere around that release! just in case anyone was not aware :)

Quite easy to fix though.

angkor408, in mine its the same thing, ur on 3.5.4 and im in 3.6.2, so its from the code some field not enter corectly.

There is not a link I just know that fields were removed, I asked over at vb.com but did not get a response, this is one of the reasons the older plugins do not work with 3.6.

I am considering making a plugin to reinstall the missing fields so that addons such as this will work again. It is easier than waiting for someone to re code them. If a plugin is made you will be able to uninstall them before any upgrades of vb and then install again once your upgrade is complete, if you see where i am coming from.

The < Previous Item | Next Item > link work but it doesn't link to other song category.

1. Let say member just a post a new song on this link:

If you click on previous it say to the same screen is not link to the main page. If you click on next it jump to the next song but you can't go foward anymore.

Hopefully, someone will re-write the code so we can reload the plugin again.
Also, I would suggest is to add search option. This will allow other member search by song title or member ID. I hope they will add this on the new release :)

this hack would be way better if you could make thumb nail images for the video...and also if the video and music were kept seperate in different categories..it dosnt really fit what im looking for, but its a very nice hack...good job:D
