Luky I do agree that people will need to input most info them selves however the info that is to be provided is generic info which if you go to any gaming web site that has game info is the same info and it really can't change now can it? I mean the developer of a game is the same, same with the publisher, the esrb rating and so forth. This generic info isn't going to give anybody tons of traffic, its the content after. Now with sites I've worked on before I just hate entering the same bloody generic information over and over again, and I've always wanted to just import the info so I can work on content that is needed and not waste my time with the basics. Thats really the whole idea, so yeah I'm lazy lol.

You dont understand my point. Its like vBulletin, they donot sell forums where you can choose form a list of topics, humm... i will take the gaming topic please! So will 50 other people. It comes pre loaded with 5,000 posts. All of these posts are the same, isnt it going to make any gaming forum that uses it look lame and noone will use them posts.

Okay let me try to explain this again. See with your example with the forum posts, that would be the content of the forum. Now with this mod the only thing that would come preload is the settings and maybe the geneic game info, the content of the mod would be all the comments, reviews, screenshot, etc which would be different with each site beucase the admins would have to do this them selves. Take the following examples, with IGN the game info is on the left, gamespot is at the top and left side.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/794/794508p1.html http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halo2/index.html See how the release date, developer, publisher are the same? Doesn't matter what site you go on if they provide game info it will be the same. So why have people enter the same info over and over again? |

This release has an updated display version of the games listing with new sort options on the client side as well added release date and multiplayer options on the admin side. I would like some feedback on the new style of listing. In the next release there will be additional changes as well features for the games section. Please do note that this version has a few old templates which are no longer in use which will be removed at a later date.

only problem we had was a SQL error saying it couldnt find "gamemultiplayid" guess taht was cause he still had beta 4 but I just manully added it and it worked, other then that everything is running good so far Good Job EDIT I just noticed 2 small bugs on the game list if a game hasnt been given a "Genre" or "ESRB Rating" for "Genre it makes the box bigger and looks abnormal and for "ESRB Rating" it gives a dead image path, on our forums it shows that image is trying to be read from "http://www.site.com/vb" here is the code from the View Source Code:
<td class="alt1"><img src="http://www.********.com/vb" /></td> Also here is a image of what I mean for better referrence any advice on the matter? Thanks |

The problem with the SQL is that you didn't uninstall the mod first. Got to remember that there is no auto updating just yet with the updates. I'm not sure about the the genre box, on my side it looks okay (thanks for the screenshot) only issue is that the height of the box is bigger with the image issue. As for the image for for the esrb rating, yeah could just make it as 'rating pending' (RP) when there was no rating given instead of N/A or could make it so there is no image shown, forgot about this thanks for the report. Another idea would be just to make the text show instead of the images on the rating, not sure which I would like better at this point of time, since I used the images so there would be less space used.

Is there a way to fix it so that the height of the empty box looks like the one with a Genre specified? Also maybe you'll like this or not, but you can also add a Descriptive tag for the rating images, so when you pass your mouse over the image of the esrb rating on the game list it would say what it is, like "Mature" here is a screenshot I made of a example, just imagine the mouse cursor over the little pic, print screen won't capture the mouse lol... anyway just a Idea |
